@@alwinhuynh Oh, one of my friend in the gym have the same issue with the program. So, I think that have to do with individual differences.
@@hindy51 ...I run c6w twice after texas method (such an agressive program but I made serius gains), c6w did work for me, I got weaker in my squat (lost my technique and skill to lift heavy weights) my dead and bench didnt move up.
Shaw deadlift is the most logical to me. If you follow strength sports you'll immediatly kinda know what its about, and it'll be easier to establish. Especially if Brian makes a video about it
Candito deadlift is what I call it. It's just shorter and I don't see anyone else using it. I find it a sweet movement to work the upper back to. Always a good thing. Thanks as always.
In a real snatch or snatch deadlift the bar contacts or rests at the hip crease, if it doesn't your grip isn't wide enough. I would just call it wide stance conventional. It looks like Shaw's regular deadlift but for him it's not really wide so it's not intentional. I remember on a video someone asked Clarence Kennedy if he can get a WR snatch deadlift but he said Brian Shaw's is basically snatch deadlift since there's no clear rules. Also Martins Licis used a regular stance snatch dead for rehab for his hamstring (not really snatch grip just wide grip narrow stance)
Don’t be mistaken..This is a wide stance conventional Deadlift. Aka the Brian Shaw deadlift. With Sumo, the arms are inside the legs and feet are turned out more. With Snatch grip, grip is wide with more of a narrow stance.
I think one point that he made in the original video for the wide stance snatch grip is that it forces your lower back to stay in a good position since the grip forces your upper back to stay tight. Maintaining good form then would be a good carryover, plus it has a longer range of motion.
I had so many legit questions about my squat but every time I got near ur in person I get star struck lol and couldn’t think of anything worth saying. Anyways great to see ur still going at it (w/content and lifting). Keep it up! 💪🏼
Hey man, haven't watched you for over half a year or something. Nice to see you're still going strong, keep up doing what you do best. Also I want to train my grip-strength, any tips?
Shaw Deadlift and Snatch Grip Sumo both paint the right picture in my mind. This is a fine development by the way I am in complete agreement with you regarding the logic of the positioning, and the upper back gains will be sickening.
@@christophernicolai1517 "stance width is more similar to a sumo than a conventional, same stance width as a narrow sumo, only difference is you have to point your feet forward to give room for elbows. Besides it's just semantics and he's looking for a phrase that sticks with people and I think most will understand what a "Snatch Grip Sumo" would look like/would make sense to them when they see the movement.
@@cooldude96531 Similar stance width and being the same as, are two very different things. It wouldn't make sense to people with calling it "Snatch Grip Sumo", since, as others pointed out, it is in fact not sumo. And it is not just semantics. Fat man deadlift. I actually used WSSG for a few cycles, unfortunately I couldn't get much out of it because I found that my mobility wasnt really up to scratch, had to do it off blocks as I couldn't achieve a neutral spine from the floor. But I am determined to try it again once my mobility is better!
This exercise is very common in Asia among Olympic lifters. When they train for the Power Snatch, they program this into their training cycles. I know they have a name for it, but I don’t remember what it is.
Tried this today i felt a massive pump in my back only did 100KG 4x4. I deadlift twice a week and did this on my 2nd deadlift day. Looking back at your video i see your using more leg drive so i’ll try this again next week adding 10KG more
It's essentially a strongman deadlift. If you watch Shaw, Thor, etc they have a wider stance and since strongman you have to do conventional deadlift and not sumo the hands are on the outside. To be fair they are also LARGE people so there's that as well. So i think calling it a Shaw or Strongman deadlift would work.
Call it "Snatch Sumo" it's short and to the point. People know what a snatch grip looks like, they know what a sumo foot position/movement pattern is. Boom. luv you
Considering the position and your barbell commision tank top I think that the name for this deadlift is obvious; BBC deadlift, because it helps you assert dominance like nothing else, though to make sure I would have to see BTC attempt it.
hmm I like the point about using this as opposed to a "deficit" sumo which is just a bitch to set up and execute like you said. going to rotate this variation instead of deficit sumo. and honestly I think "wide stance snatch grip" is a clean name lol
I struggle a lot with deadlift. I have very short arms (neg 6 ape idx) , fairly short legs and a long torso. Squatting and benching come quite naturally to me, but deadlifting is a nightmare. Do you think this would be a good exercise for me to try or is there anything else you would advise?
I would recommend doing a lot of block pulls, and paused deadlifts just off the floor. Also pick up some figure 8 straps and learn to pull with the bar in your finger tips
‘Wide Stance Deadlift’ no need to include ‘snatch grip’ as that’s implied by it not being sumo - and you’d of course have to have a wide grip placement to accommodate the wide stance. As it’s quite unique to yourself I also think ‘Candito Deadlift’ would be a good alternative.
Nah wide stance snatch grip is definitely a thing and resounds with people. Other established powerlifting coaches/athletes use it as well, like Sebastian Oreb (ie @australianstrengthcoach) and his athletes
Why are you trying to reinvent wide-stance leg press ? Just a thought :-) Also, you could name it: Strongman Deadlift. In WSM competition they are not allowed to do sumo deadlift, so they go wide stance and thus wider grip.
The Strongman deadlift already exists. It's a conventional deadlift but with straps allowed. The point of it is to avoid using alternate grip, reducing the risk of bicep tears.
I’d just call it a wide stance conventional. Because you feet are still next to your hands. I would call a narrow stance with a wide grip a snatch grip deadlift though
In other words, Brian Shaw's conventional stance.
He mentioned Shaw Deadlift in the video.
Or Jerry Pritchett
In Shaw’s case, his feet are really only slightly outside his hips.
Shaw and Pritchett both do this but they're big guys

How about just call it "Snatch Grip Sumo"? Nice and simple. Everyone correlates sumo with a wide stance anyway
It's not sumo. It's conventional.
Because a sumo deadlift is definitionally one where your hands are placed 'inside' your feet on the bar.
