"Hazel" works so well because sound is super important for horror and while the setup was very home-made, the sound definitely was not. The music is absolutely excellent and haunting and Rhett and Link are amazing musicians who know how to tell a story with music.
As soon as the spooky stuff began, I forgot who I was watching and it became an actual horror movie. Hazel is fantastic. I'd watch a whole ass movie based on this plot.

Sad that it didn’t do as well as R&L’s other tiktoks. I do unfortunately think its just because of that platform. Many users are younger, and just don’t want to sit through 11 parts (at a couple minutes each) if it isn’t something they are super interested in. I feel like the majority of views/likes on the series there was us super fans (each vid had around 11k likes), then one vid must have got into the tiktok algorithm, arguably one of the most active/straightforward horror parts, and got over 70k likes. I just think tiktok can’t handle a series like that. But- it was absolutely phenomenal though. It was so cool and one of my favorite things R&L has created.
I'm super glad they put the whole series on youtube. I wouldn't join tiktok just for that, especially when i thought it was just going to be them writing a song. But the end result was so good it deserves to be seen by more people than just their tiktok fans!

The Hazel experience was fantastic! One of the small details i loved was that the introduction of the album was hidden as a prize in a GMM episode and then not revealed or referenced again until on Hazel itself forcing you to go back and find it lol. I loved the whole experience 10/10 would recommend (already have btw)

Totally agree. The blend of comedy and horror was perfection. It's hard to do and I was so impressed. And "found footage" style stuff is normally not my favorite, but it was so fitting with the medium of TikTok.

As a writer, I always love hearing your thoughts on delving into new ways to transform your media beyond that which is expected of you. I almost never read YA, but I bought Bleak Creek, and I found that as a person raised in the bible belt living abroad, it was a very comfortable read, and the kind of "bad guys" of that culture were very fitting. Keep doing what you do.

This was a neat "behind the scenes" episode. I didn't watch Hazel live, and it was a bit spoiled for me by the merch/ conversation that came out right after, but it was definitely a cool little movie that I enjoyed watching. I watch A LOT of horror movies and shows so it didn't really scare me but it was spooky and I really thought the music was great. I'd watch more of this! Just for reference I'm not a youth so I don't really have the opportunity to do much live tv / tik tok / etc. cause of life but yeah, the end project was pretty cool!

The two constants in my life have pretty much always been GMM and horror. I'm an avid consumer of ARGs, and this was a fun surprise, to say the least. I lost my mind seeing it unfold in real time! R+L comedy mixes so well with horror, and I hope/pray that there's more to come.

rhett is right in that the first video of the series has to end on a cliffhanger for people to keep watching. only a small part of your audience would be interested in writing a song with you.
Re the tik toks. I especially loved the dog sketches. Loved Damnyell. Loved Link dancing. Etc. Hazel was so great. Loved being part of the initial launch.
I'm interested what their reactions to the reception have been, considering the comments are overwhelmingly positive but the views are not great. I loved it and i love that they've found a home for their sketch stuff on tik tok and instagram and that they seem really enthusiastic to keep trying new stuff. Loving the content guys and constantly impressed by how much different stuff you are working on!

When I first turned on the hazel video I was a bit confused. It’s not the sort of content I expect from Rhett and link. But once I realized what they were going for I absolutely loved it. As a fan of horror I thought they really nailed it with both concept and execution. Horror and comedy have always gone hand in hand so it makes sense that these two could successfully pull off a video like that. I would love to see more. It was super creepy and still had some good laughs too. Very well done I thought.
Now do the same thing, but set in the Mythical studio. Use the same transition trick to get yourselves "lost" in repeating rooms, could even have an actual interactive component with the audience.

When I saw the Hazel video come up on RUclips (I'm not on TikTok at all) I purposely saved it for a day closer to Halloween. I decided to watch it last night (10/27) and got all in the mood, turned all the lights off, expected a horror movie, and it was still absolutely incredible even lacking the TikTok surprise element. By part four I was trembling and holding the remote in case I decided it was too scary and I wanted to turn it off (I did not). Last night Hazel was in my dreams. This morning I watched this Ear Biscuit and have to say, it was an amazingly well-done project. I'm going to have to rewatch it with other people I know to show it to them and to go back and see all the little details about it. I think it will even work well to show to people who don't know you guys as well as I do, but that layer of familiarity made it extra chilling. Also appreciate how well you established the layout of the house. When I saw that painting with the lips I knew we were about to be able to see The Door. Excellent job.

Firstly the project was super cool and so well done. Personally I think it worked better and really well on youtube. I think the way tiktok works, doesn’t lend itself well to this kind of series. It was missing that ‘virality’ factor to get people engaged, but i also feel like it would’ve lost its authenticity.

There was DEFINITELY a few jumpscares but i do agree it was done in a way where even someone who avoids horror in general can enjoy it.

hazel was great. almost had a little bit of a sci-fi element too.
the comedy was on point also.
I didn’t realize it was an 11 part series on TikTok, I saw it on RUclips and watched it all the way through thinking it was amazing!!!
The two constants in my life have pretty much always been GMM and horror. I'm an avid consumer of ARGs, and this was a fun surprise, to say the least. I lost my mind seeing it unfold in real time! R+L comedy mixes so well with horror, and I hope/pray that there's more to come.
I went to watch it just before this and it’s like...genuinely artistically good. Even aside from the fact that I enjoy R&L content, it was legitimately compelling.
Very well done boys! I throughly enjoyed this! Always been an avid horror fan and the concept was solid. It made sense in its own weird way. I really hope there's a continuation of this!

I've been behind on GMM and Ear Biscuits for a long time, but I do check in every now and again and binge videos. I loved the short film!
I usually don't like any horror/scary things... but I loved Hazel. Perfect balance of horror and comedy for me to still enjoy it without getting nightmares
rhett is right in that the first video of the series has to end on a cliffhanger for people to keep watching. only a small part of your audience would be interested in writing a song with you.
Re the tik toks. I especially loved the dog sketches. Loved Damnyell. Loved Link dancing. Etc.

I'm interested what their reactions to the reception have been, considering the comments are overwhelmingly positive but the views are not great. I loved it and i love that they've found a home for their sketch stuff on tik tok and instagram and that they seem really enthusiastic to keep trying new stuff. Loving the content guys and constantly impressed by how much different stuff you are working on!

You guys are really good at writing thrillers, watching Hazel gave me goosebumps similar to when I read Bleek Creek. I’m really hoping that the “show” you are working on is Bleek Creek!!!
When I first turned on the hazel video I was a bit confused. It’s not the sort of content I expect from Rhett and link. But once I realized what they were going for I absolutely loved it. As a fan of horror I thought they really nailed it with both concept and execution. Horror and comedy have always gone hand in hand so it makes sense that these two could successfully pull off a video like that. I would love to see more. It was super creepy and still had some good laughs too. Very well done I thought.
The slow raising of the fork in the woods just about had me in tears with laughter.
Now do the same thing, but set in the Mythical studio. Use the same transition trick to get yourselves "lost" in repeating rooms, could even have an actual interactive component with the audience.
They should release a full horror movie on the rhett and link channel I think it will be a major success

I am personally not someone who uses TikTok, but I loved watching Hazel on RUclips. And I could definitely see where it would work on a platform like TikTok. I feel like it works really well both ways !!! Congrats you guys on creating something fresh & new! I really enjoyed it!!!!
I miss your short films like the past Sketchtobers you guys did. You guys are so full of creativity and awesomeness that I hope that never goes away. I don't use my tiktok app very much so I was very glad to be able to watch Hazel here in YT and I can let my sisters watch them too.

I get why you may feel Hazel under-performed, but for the record, I think it was absolute brilliance, and an amazing piece of both cinematography as well as just a fun ride (with some beautiful compositions to boot)!

When I saw the Hazel video come up on RUclips (I'm not on TikTok at all) I purposely saved it for a day closer to Halloween. I decided to watch it last night (10/27) and got all in the mood, turned all the lights off, expected a horror movie, and it was still absolutely incredible even lacking the TikTok surprise element. By part four I was trembling and holding the remote in case I decided it was too scary and I wanted to turn it off (I did not). Last night Hazel was in my dreams. This morning I watched this Ear Biscuit and have to say, it was an amazingly well-done project. I'm going to have to rewatch it with other people I know to show it to them and to go back and see all the little details about it. I think it will even work well to show to people who don't know you guys as well as I do, but that layer of familiarity made it extra chilling. Also appreciate how well you established the layout of the house. When I saw that painting with the lips I knew we were about to be able to see The Door. Excellent job.

Firstly the project was super cool and so well done. Personally I think it worked better and really well on youtube. I think the way tiktok works, doesn’t lend itself well to this kind of series. It was missing that ‘virality’ factor to get people engaged, but i also feel like it would’ve lost its authenticity.

Not long ago I listened to an Ear Biscuits where you discussed movies and it ended with a pinky swear where you said you were going to create a horror movie. I've been exited ever since, and even though I didn't watch it on TikTok but as full length on RUclips, I was not disappointed. Great work
I LOVE horror. You guys are really good at making spooky stuff. I thought the Lost Causes of Bleak Creek was going to be the only horror I'd see from you. At least for awhile. Hazel was such a fun surprise. I love how you guys actually set up that little easter egg a few weeks ago during the animation episode of GMM. And I LOVED how everything was happening in "real time".
