As a huge Thin Lizzy fan, I love that Huey honored his friend Phil this way - even throwing a nod to his "Bluesy Huey Lewis" days by adding harmonica to this classic.
Saw them in STL back in the day. They opened the 2nd half of the show with this song. In the dark...At the guitar hook the lights burst on. Pretty cool to hear Huey's voice belting it out.
I loved when the guys did this song live!! It was always so cool when Johnny and Chris would come out running from behind the drums. Every time I hear the original song on the radio, it brings me back seeing HLN doing it live. I miss those days!
😲
Man...I knew he toured with Lizzy in the 70s but I would never expect a performance like that. A newfound respect for the News.
Huey Lewis play the armonica with Thin Lizzy
Bon Jovi did a good job covering this song also, but i like this one much better.
What a drummer
Huey had the perfect voice for this song.
Best version of this song that I've ever heard. Huey & The News rock!!
All day long Fella. The News Wall of Sound is amazing. 👌
There were/are an amazing act. You got your money's worth when you went to see a Huey Lewis & the news show. : )
Love that Huey channeled Phil Lynott for a brief moment of thanks and blessing.
Saw Huey and 38 special at Norfolk Scope many, many years ago. They put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Respect to Huey Lewis and the News.
Huey was pals with Phil Lynott & worked with him... it shows, great cover.
Huey played harmonica on Lizzy´s Live And Dangerous -album on one track.
Huey payed on Phil`s solo album, also !! And it was fab!! Great Great job !!
I like this much better than the cover version that Bon Jovi did of this song.
The energy on the stage is crazy especially in the breakdown... truly a song for the ages as well as the performance

Huey Lewis once said “ Phil Lynott was the greatest front man in rock roll”, He said I know, cause we opened up for Thin Lizzy 50 times.
Phil Lynott - a great Dubliner, said by a proud fellow Dubliner
I love this cover
K Kalzone yeah it's brilliant version.. love it myself also... Lizzy forever

Excelente versión de este clásico de thin lizzy
Always thought that if Robbo or Gorham split from Thin Lizzy that they can replace one of them with Chris Hayes.

Good awsome tuning version
100x better than bon jovi version
Wow! Talk about a wall of sound! Phil Spector has nothing on this band :)
I don’t know about that. How many Huey killed? (joke) (kidding) Huey the best.
@@robstone5333 Not sure, but he certainly killed this performance
Man, the good old days when you could smoke on stage (see the bassist)

Also, live version of "Small World" is pretty amazing
Live at Tokyo Dome
Me when my bois are not in fact, back in town.
UN COVER DE THIN LIZZY
Superb bass playing, just does the business with no fuss or heroics. But as usual, gets little praise 🤔
Actually, Phil took Huey under his wing, and I believe if it was not for that Huey would not have become as big as he did.
Thin Lizzy, one of Rock's best bands ever: Just ask Metallica, Whiskey in the Jar.
THIS SONGS ABOUT VIETNAM VETS COMING HOME.
To ireland?
Are you sure? I thought the Vietnam vets song was "Walking On A Thin Line"?
Lmao… the song about a street gang over in the UK
