How To Make A Paper Spool For Your Slow Stitched Scroll

  • I made a rolled paper spool for one of my slow stitched scrolls. I’ll share how I made the house scroll in the next video.
    It’s best to use flyers or newspapers because they are free and the ends stick together easily. I recommend using a skewer to roll the centre tube. A larger object will create a bigger hole and I feel that makes the spool soft and squishy. Simply add additional layers of paper to increase the size of your spool and bead ends instead.

    Omg I wanna make one for my slow st. Scroll. I was gonna buy a wooden one, but too expensive, and these look so good.

      If you wanted to make a bigger one you could start with a paper tube from paper towel or foil. Then just cut large triangles from a thin cardboard to roll for the ends.

    The end product is lovely, but why do you turn your ruler upside down? The cork is to stop it slipping as you cut, as well as preventing ink from wicking when drawing lines.

    • @cookingjennfer
      @cookingjennfer  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! Personal preference. I don’t like the gap the cork creates between the paper and the ruler. I always use it upside down except for measuring. I use metal rulers so when I cut something with a blade it doesn’t get stuck like it does with plastic.

    Hi, did you use 5 sheets of newsprint?

    • @cookingjennfer
      @cookingjennfer  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hello. I didn’t count. It was probably more like 6 or 8. The length of paper will also determine the size of your roll. Just play around until you achieve the size you’re looking for and then glue it.
