    I've never seen an artist have so many finished, possibly, pieces in one painting. You mute, define, mute, define, and it comes out so perfectly balanced. I so appreciate your style. Thank you for making these videos.

    Seriously fearless brushwork going on there. I don't do much abstract but I'm slowly leaning towards its appeal.

      Hi and thanks for watching. The painting at the beginning is very simple, and it is very reminiscent of what I used to do many years ago. But I can understand what you mean by saying it was stronger. The point however (in my opinion) is that the video in its simplicity tries to show (and to remind me) that all those "moments" are still part of the whole painting, even when progressively "hidden."

      I understand what you mean, and it is legitimate. The initial stages are very similar to what I used to paint many years ago, more structured and regular, to put it very shortly. Whereas for this painting it would have been only an intermediate stage to go in another direction. And in the end the video, differently from the final image, keeps all of them together in a temporal path, and this is what I was curious to record.

      Hi, it's made using oils, acrylics, charcoal and some light touch of oil pastels

    How long does something like this take to dry?

    • @lettera_79
      @lettera_79  Год назад

      Hi Janis, the drying times depend on the used binder and medium. For this specific painting all used water-based paints have very fast drying times. For areas painted with oil, the range goes from one day to one week to be touch dry, a few months for a deeper drying. This can be influenced by many factors.

    Can someone help me look at this/ understand this? I don't mean to bring it down, not at all but I just don't understand how to look at it to start appreciating art like this in general.

    • @ohvnaq
      @ohvnaq 4 года назад +2

      i think you just experience it like you would experience tasting food, hearing sounds, drinking drinks, taking a shower, etc.. there's nothing to try to understand, just enjoy the experience.. at least that's how i see it. colors and shapes and strokes and movements invoke feelings the same way tastes, sounds, sensations do

    • @MrTelemikey
      @MrTelemikey 4 года назад

      @@ohvnaq thanks! True, I guess. Although for example with wine tasting... by trying to describes the flavours and noticing the length of the aftertaste etc, one gets 'tools' to appreciate the wine. Of course, in the end it's a question of(acquired... who enjoyed their very first wine?) taste. For me, I find such work strange, I feel like I don't have the tools and thus also 'the taste' does not work for me,cwhilebi would like to appreciate it.

    Schon verrückt, oder? Früher war Kunst etwas ganz Besonderes, etwas Herausragendes. Hatte eine Bedeutung. Nur ganz herausragende Menschen mit einer enormer Begabung, langjähriger Ausbildung und einem Durchhaltevermögen konnten es zum "Künstler" schaffen. Heute braucht man nicht viel um "Kunst", oder wie man das nennen soll, zu machen. Die billigsten Farben und irgendeine billige Leinwand genügt schon. Auch kann jeder, jeder der sich mal kreativ ausdrücken will, "Kunst" machen. Das Besondere, das Herausragende ist heute nicht erwünscht, da das "andere" dann diskriminiert wäre. So sind Genies heute in der Kusnt nicht mehr gewollt und werden sogar absichtlich negiert um das kollektive Leitbild, jeder ist ein Künstler nicht zu zerstören. Diese Gleichmacherei gibt es zwar in der Musik auch, aber nur in der populären Musik. Nicht in der zeitgenösisichen Musik und auch nicht bei den Interpreten Ernster Musik. Da kann man sich nicht einfach eine billige Violine kaufen und sich hinstellen und eine Komposition spielen und sagen, das soll so klingen. Das geht nur in der zeitgenöisschen Kunst.

      I don't agree at all, or at least that what you say has nothing to do with this content. This is simply a video about making a painting at a particular time. Not only does the word "art" never appear, neither in the video nor in the description, but no one in this video says what is art and what is not. It is simply a video made to keep me busy in the studio at a particular time in histor (march/april 2020). Neither the colors nor the canvas are "cheap" as you say. And, I forgot again, in contemporary music, which I follow, there are people like those you describe. Those people are there in every sphere. And basically, if you think about it, that's what you're doing right now, too. In any case, I thank you for watching and for being here to discuss it, it's always enjoyable, even when we have very different ideas.

      Did you try slowing down the video from the RUclips player? It becomes a bit jumpy, but perhaps more distinguishable.
