A Fantastic person. I once played the B-minor mass, trumpet, and she was the horn player on baroque horn. She played fantastic with an amazing confidence!

I hope you don't mind my reacting to things expressed in the conversation with Froydis. On the subject of stage fright, I picked up the idea along the way as I sang more and more solos of just focusing on the mechanics and feelings of the music that I would be expressing. In other words, it was not about my ego and what people would think of me. It was about the techniques, expression of the music and honoring the composer.

It seems like lung capacity is to horn players what hand size is for pianists. We all tell ourselves it's hugely important, and then proceed to list zillions of counterexamples that demonstrate that it's not really that important at all. :-)

Something that an upper class-man told me in college was to do what oboe players do. I was finding myself with enough air most of the time but needing more oxygen. He told me to exhale first and empty my lungs before refilling them again. I found that helped me to have enough oxygen to carry through the long phrases. Find a classically trainer singer who will teach you about breathing, which muscles to relax, which ones to set and more efficient use of air.
