    After watching this video, I suddenly have this urge to box up and send all my knives to Skeeter for a tune up, lol. It's not hard to tell he's done this many thousands of times. A master craftsman at work.

    I am very impressed, Skeeter!! You can tell you have sharpened thousands of Knives. You made it look so easy. That’s how you can tell somebody is a complete master. Thank you for these videos being a knife collector I am very interested in the sharpening process. God bless you guys. John

      Same here. I know how to sharpen myself, but it's a pleasure to watch how a master craftsman does it.
      BTW, I'd love to see you go back to putting out a video here and there. I always enjoyed your content sir. I know it's a pia to do them, and I understand the reasons you stopped, but I sure do miss watching them. God bless, and stay safe!

    Awesome! I have a Genesis that I've had for several years now. One day I'd love to come by your shop and get it re-sharpened "by you guys". Heard you would do that.

      Yes, we will. You can bring it by the shop or ship it. Email info@ltwrightknives.com with questions how to do that.

    ●Is the 1st machine a belt grinder or belt sander? Is the surface feet per minute around 3,000 or 5,000?
    ●What's the RPM of the Grizzly bench grinder-- 1,800 or 3,600 RPMs?
    ●What brand is the green compound? I'd like to look up the grit size.
    Thanks for the video.

    • @LTWrightKnives
      @LTWrightKnives  Год назад

      It is 2x72 belt grinder. It has a variable speed controller so the FPM is always changing. The grinder will have a plate on it with the RPM's listed. The green compound is from RW Wilson.

    How to sharpen LT Wright scandi with microbevel? Like standard flat grind (also with microbevel)? With true scandi is simple. But with scandi with microbevel sharpening by hand and stroping in the end you get more like scandivex. Wich is ok but I just want to be clear with that. Did I miss LT Wright scandi grind sharpening presentation?

    • @zebratruck
      @zebratruck 3 года назад +2

      If you just sharpen as a normal Scandi and strop on leather you’ll be fine. The micro bevel we put on is VERY micro, nothing like a secondary bevel. It’s put on with a hard buff, not a belt.

      @@zebratruck Thank you for quick answer. I allready have LT Wright Forest trail, flat grind and I consider to buy Genesis A2 scandi but it looks that is out of stock in every web shop. DLT, Theknifeconnection...

      @@zebratruckHey Scooter, is the hard buffed bevel you do at the shop comparable to an actual micro bevel as far as strength and durability?
      Also, how about a video on how you guys recommend corrosion prevention on the carbon steels? Just apply oil when done for the day? Applied and left wet, or applied and buffed off?
      Thanks!👍🏻

    Can you use this method on a scandi grind knife?

    • @LTWrightKnives
      @LTWrightKnives  6 лет назад +1

      Yes.

    • @zebratruck
      @zebratruck 6 лет назад

      The stropping, yes. I'd just use a ceramic rod to get the burr if it's that far gone.

    What are the names of the disks you’re using? Thanks

    • @LTWrightKnives
      @LTWrightKnives  3 года назад

      Do you mean the buffing wheels? They’re from Duro-felt and they’re the “hard” durometer. You’ll see the different ones on their web site. The buffing wheel on the right is just a floppy cotton wheel, non-sewn.

  • @stokersmith8156
    @stokersmith8156 6 лет назад

    How come the blade does not cut into the belt as you are forming the burr?

    • @LTWrightKnives
      @LTWrightKnives  6 лет назад +2

      It's hard to explain, but it just doesn't. The angle that we hold it at doesn't cut it.

    • @zebratruck
      @zebratruck 6 лет назад

      Because I'm not holding it too steep as to dig into the belt.
