      lol how come??? lyndsey is NOT a ballet dancer. not even a little bit. fitting someone with pointe shoes happens ONLY after practicing for years and being approved by your trainer that you are strong enough and ready to go on pointe. Fitting shoes does not add 9 years of hard work. She was just trying to be nice and diplomatic saying "if only she would be fitted better". the reality is - shoes are just a tool, you need to be able to use it, and that ability is not easily attained. Im actually put off Lyndsey didnt realise how much of a cringe this was and went with the vid idea.... what bad taste.

    The sad thing is that she's a fantastic dancer with so much musicality and physical strength. It's just really obvious that nobody taught her how to use pointe shoes. From the way she's moving in them, she seems to be treating them like sneakers (close to Michael Jackson's toe stand). Props to her for executing everything with confidence though. Most people would freak out and feel completely unstable on pointe if they had no prior experience.

I kind of wonder with this as well as some of the other videos of people who don't actually do pointe if the reason she can get up is mainly that the shank is rock hard and not broken in.

      @@BelovedfriendLSB I'm really shocked they didn't fit Lindsey into better shoes or that the dancers behind her couldn't tell her how to correct her feet on the echappes. Seriously, anyone with ballet training or EYEBALLS could say to Lindsey "Your feet do not look like the girls behind you. It's really dangerous technique and cringe to look at." I love Lindsey, but some kind of communication did not happen here. She didn't have a good shoe fitter or pointe instruction or both. I know she's not professionally trained in ballet, but Lindsey is strong and flexible. I think if she had really worked at those echappes for a few weeks in properly fitted shoes, she could have gotten them looking decent for the video. She doesn't really do anything else up on pointe that looks bad. It's just the echappes and it's painfully obvious to even those with no ballet knowledge because she's got two girls right behind her doing echappes with proper technique! Look at their feet vs Lindsey's feet. I want to wince when she's up on echappe because that technique is so dangerous and uncomfortable. Dancing on pointe is not like any other type of dance out there. You have to have enough training, strength, flexibility, and properly fitted shoes to succeed, even on moves as simple as echappe.

      On the one hand I agree with you, but on the other, if you're the sort who will put on pointe shoes because you saw someone, celebrity or not, wearing it and think it's cool so you'll also wear it to stand en pointe, then you're more at fault. People have been doing this sort of thing since forever. I remember when the movie The Karate Kid came out, people were doing the final move, balancing on one foot then hopping to kick with the other, even if they have no training whatsoever. So, my point is you're more responsible for your actions if you do something like that without learning more about it.

    I wandered in here as a Lindsey fan, curious about the "actual ballet dancer" take. Looks like mostly "honey, that's cute, but you're going to hurt yourself". Picking a visual she wants to be able to perform, and practicing or taking classes until she can do it enough to perform it on one song seems to be her vibe. Y'all should see some of the videos of her learning to hair hang for her Christmas tour a while back. So much determination.
    She probably is going to end up hurting herself, though...

    • @GoddessArwen17
      @GoddessArwen17 2 года назад +15

      That's what I don't get. Like you said, normally Lindsey works super, super hard on her videos. It's like she threw this pointe shoe idea together at the last second and nobody (not even the trained dancers right behind her) thought to say "Hey, you've really got to fix those feet in echappe and here's how." Echappe is a pretty simple move and Lindsey is strong and flexible. If she had someone work with her for a few weeks (and fitted into a decent shoe), I think she would have gotten her echappes up to a decent level for this video. There was no reason for them to look this BAD unless no communication or training was happening. If she continues to do echappes this way, she will definitely hurt herself in the long run.

    Lindsey actually dances ballet. that is why she has such good motion in her feet. Lindsey is incredible flexable.

  • @gnguyen411
    @gnguyen411 2 года назад +8

    Sometimes in movies, when the actor is supposed to be a ballet dancer, the director would only film from above the feet to make it seem like they are dancing on pointe (It occurs in the original Ballet Shoes movie and a similar effect happens with actors playing a pianist, where the hands aren’t shown). I think when the clip doesn’t show her feet, she is dancing on a platform. She probably only does a few moves on pointe, and everything else is just good editing.

      @@mtl.3333 I said on pointe. I said that she was only on pointe for a few moves, for this particular music video. I didn't say she is a bad dancer. Lindsey Stirling is known for dancing while playing the violin. It could be that it was decided that she would dance on demi-pointe for most of the scenes to reduce the chances of injury. It could also be that she just started taking pointe classes and would have appeared unstable dancing on pointe.

    • @gnguyen411
      @gnguyen411 2 года назад

      @@mtl.3333 It didn't look like there was a stunt ballerina, who was used in many movies. I suggested that certain cinema tricks were used, because she hasn't been on pointe for a long time and would look much better if she dance off pointe, but made it look like she was for many parts of the music video.

      @@mtl.3333 I wasn't nitpicking anything, or criticizing her performance. I was referring to when Josephine became scared when Lindsay was on pointe. I have no doubt that given the right training, she will dance wonderfully on pointe. However, at the time of filming she didn’t have enough strength to do so. It also appears that the ballerina give helpful advice and the music video was film and edited the way it was.

    she does have a fascination with pointe shoes though. I don’t know if she’s just in love with ballet or if it’s a phase and she’ll move on to other things later. But I love her even if for several shows and videos now she makes the ballet trained woman in me cringe a bit. Lol

    To be fair Lindsey does have issues in general on her right side. Not just her feet. She has been dancing for years. She even came in second on Dancing with the Stars. I think she was ill fitted to her shoes for sure. But she hadn't been on pointe all that long at the time of this video either. If you watch the behind the sciences video for Shatter Me, they have her in a harness and had a pointe shoe nailed to the platform she was supposed to be in. That was before Dancing with the Stars and Santa Baby. Lindsey is awesome. She is a serious artist who commits herself 100% to what she does. She doesn't half ass anything. Check her out on Dancing with the stars and all her other videos. She really is awesome. Super sweet too.

I sometimes think she already does so much, that doing more just isn't needed. After all, she plays violin, dances, does her own choreography, does costume design, sings, does aerial gymnastics for her show, and is now learning ballet on top of all this?
