I'm not a dancer (only took adult ballet for a year and a half) and even I was muttering to myself "you're not even over on your box!" And why were her shoes not properly tied.
On the one hand I agree with you, but on the other, if you're the sort who will put on pointe shoes because you saw someone, celebrity or not, wearing it and think it's cool so you'll also wear it to stand en pointe, then you're more at fault. People have been doing this sort of thing since forever. I remember when the movie The Karate Kid came out, people were doing the final move, balancing on one foot then hopping to kick with the other, even if they have no training whatsoever. So, my point is you're more responsible for your actions if you do something like that without learning more about it.
If you watch the behind the scenes video she talked about her pointe work. If my memory is correct, the pointe shoe not being properly tied was supposed to be funny. Like a glamor girl who has it all put doesn't quite get it.
I think I got the most entertainment from watching Josephine be kind and say polite things while stopping to stare at the camera (3:46) from time to time and share that 'can you believe this sh*t' moment with the audience. "She's really cute." "That's all fine if you're on the couch"
I wandered in here as a Lindsey fan, curious about the "actual ballet dancer" take. Looks like mostly "honey, that's cute, but you're going to hurt yourself". Picking a visual she wants to be able to perform, and practicing or taking classes until she can do it enough to perform it on one song seems to be her vibe. Y'all should see some of the videos of her learning to hair hang for her Christmas tour a while back. So much determination. She probably is going to end up hurting herself, though...
That's what I don't get. Like you said, normally Lindsey works super, super hard on her videos. It's like she threw this pointe shoe idea together at the last second and nobody (not even the trained dancers right behind her) thought to say "Hey, you've really got to fix those feet in echappe and here's how." Echappe is a pretty simple move and Lindsey is strong and flexible. If she had someone work with her for a few weeks (and fitted into a decent shoe), I think she would have gotten her echappes up to a decent level for this video. There was no reason for them to look this BAD unless no communication or training was happening. If she continues to do echappes this way, she will definitely hurt herself in the long run.
@@GoddessArwen17 "Shatter Me" was bad like that too, but I got SO much hate on her FB page for saying it. Granted, I was pretty blunt about it and probably should have been more gracious instead, but I got SO much hate for not just immediately approving of everything she did.
This is wild I haven’t seen Lindsey Stirling in years! Glad she’s still doing her thing. Last time I watched one of her videos she wasn’t singing, it was just her and her violin jumping around on rocks and it was amazing. She still is
It's very obvious that she is an experienced and talented dancer, but point is a whole different ball game if you are just starting out. I struggled with point after years of ballet classes in flat shoes it took me a while to get the hang of it. I give her props, she did her best and she looks good for not having experience
It's crazy that Lindsey manage to do this! if I'm correct, it took her like two months to learn to do this (I did some research and apparently it was less time holly moly). At that time she was living with a friend tha was an actual ballerina, and taught her specifically for this video and never did it again. Same case for what she did with the hair hanging thing she did for Crystallize on her christmas online concert (you can watch it on her RUclips channel along with the vlog she did with her experience learning this skill... Is actually INSANE, if you watch it, get ready to cry tho). She's incredibly talented, and I love her so much for being brave enough to try new stuff every time she has the opportunity 💖.
Just for the video. Lindsey’s roommate is a trained ballerina and Lindsey had an idea for a video. Yes she knows! Now Lindsey performs Santa Baby on a Lyra suspended high in the air. During down time 2020 Covid Lindsey learned hair hanging for a Christmas video show. Once shot she quit that and uses harness in live performance of Crystallize Never tell Lindsey it is impossible! Lindsey surrounds herself with trained contemporary dancers Go see a show!
She's done humming and background vocals in several of her videos over the years, but it is only in the last year or so that she's started doing main vocals. Still, she never ceases to amaze me with how many different things she has learned to do well over the years!
I play the violin and I do Ballet! Lindsey Stirling has been my violinist role model before I knew she did ballet, and this just makes me ten times happier!
I have a completely untrained eye. Never have I ever taken even 1 lesson......in 60 yrs. For people like myself this looks perfect AND she's bringing a whole new generation a glimpse into another world they want to pursue.
I got to see Lindsey and I swear- her and her dancers were sooo good!! I'm so glad you reacted to her and I found it funny that you were just trying to think of pointe shoes for her, haha! 🤣
Oh, I read about this in your comments! I thought it was great. From what I gather, she used to dance, but focuses mainly on the violin, music, stories and directing, but did train for a few months en pointe for this video. Her sense of storytelling through her mainly instrumental pieces, (which she composes), and theatricality I find amazing imho.
Sometimes in movies, when the actor is supposed to be a ballet dancer, the director would only film from above the feet to make it seem like they are dancing on pointe (It occurs in the original Ballet Shoes movie and a similar effect happens with actors playing a pianist, where the hands aren’t shown). I think when the clip doesn’t show her feet, she is dancing on a platform. She probably only does a few moves on pointe, and everything else is just good editing.
@@mtl.3333 I said on pointe. I said that she was only on pointe for a few moves, for this particular music video. I didn't say she is a bad dancer. Lindsey Stirling is known for dancing while playing the violin. It could be that it was decided that she would dance on demi-pointe for most of the scenes to reduce the chances of injury. It could also be that she just started taking pointe classes and would have appeared unstable dancing on pointe.
@@mtl.3333 It didn't look like there was a stunt ballerina, who was used in many movies. I suggested that certain cinema tricks were used, because she hasn't been on pointe for a long time and would look much better if she dance off pointe, but made it look like she was for many parts of the music video.
@@mtl.3333 I wasn't nitpicking anything, or criticizing her performance. I was referring to when Josephine became scared when Lindsay was on pointe. I pointed out how certain cinema tricks could have been used. We only saw a complete picture of Lindsay dancing in a few moment. Lindsay probably choose to have the music video the way it is, because she felt it was best.
I have no doubt that given the right training, she will dance wonderfully on pointe. However, at the time of filming she didn’t have enough strength to do so. It also appears that the ballerina give helpful advice and the music video was film and edited the way it was.
Can we see a video where you meet her and fit her?!! Omg I would love it. Lindsey has amazing dance skills and flexibility and well as being an outstanding musician. Make this dream happen for all of us stirlingites
Lindsay is trained in many dances, I might be wrong but I think she did some ballet in her earlier years too! Pleaseeeeeeeee! Get her in, get her fitted, that would be so awesome 😍😍😍😍
Actually, Lindsey has never trained in ballet. She started dancing around the age of 23yo on her own until she joined Dancing with The Stars in 2017 (Season 25) and finished runner-up to the Mirror Ball trophy with her pro-dance partner Mark Ballas.
She did do a video en pointe. Can’t remember the name, but she was a porcelain doll that was breaking apart. So this isn’t the first time. She’s trained in a bunch of techniques in recent years
That video you speak of is "Shatter Me" where she was a balerina in a glass globe. Lindsey mentioned in the Behind The Scenes video that the shoes were nailed down. Movie magic.
@@breannthorne-stanzell5990 In that video, the costume was outfitted with a complete support rig. It was done not only for safety reasons, but because she knew she did not have the training needed to stay on her toes like that, even for a few seconds. She is slowly remedying that, but honestly, with everything she already does, I don't know how she finds the time for even basic ballet lessons at this point.
It is so funny, how the I only see Lindsey in other people's reaction videos. The only other time I saw her video was when Twoset violin was making fun of her dancing that would no way let her perform on the violin at the same time
@@Pirategirl4nightwish But even violin she's self taught in, which leaves me feel a little confused. Like.. her early videos (the ones she got famous with) were not good from a skill point of view. Back then she was just pretty doing something new, sounding good enough to those who don't know how to play themselves. And I don't mean this as hate - it just seems like a weird explanation from a fully grown adult to why she chooses to do risky dance moves like this without *any* training, while she had more than enough years and money to learn ever since she first gained popularity if she had wanted to.
I love Stirling. Her and my daughter are close to the same age and both played violin so talked often when they were just baby violinists and didn’t have tons of followers or people coming to watch her play. I feel like I’ve watched her become ridiculously famous and am crazy proud . That girl works her ass off and deserves all the good. she does have a fascination with pointe shoes though. I don’t know if she’s just in love with ballet or if it’s a phase and she’ll move on to other things later. But I love her even if for several shows and videos now she makes the ballet trained woman in me cringe a bit. Lol
To be fair Lindsey does have issues in general on her right side. Not just her feet. She has been dancing for years. She even came in second on Dancing with the Stars. I think she was ill fitted to her shoes for sure. But she hadn't been on pointe all that long at the time of this video either. If you watch the behind the sciences video for Shatter Me, they have her in a harness and had a pointe shoe nailed to the platform she was supposed to be in. That was before Dancing with the Stars and Santa Baby. Lindsey is awesome. She is a serious artist who commits herself 100% to what she does. She doesn't half ass anything. Check her out on Dancing with the stars and all her other videos. She really is awesome. Super sweet too.
Me sweating cause I got put on pointe year 4 and she said 9 :,) Learning proper turn puts and calf strength made all the difference for me and I hardly had the range of motion I saw in this video in my ankles and my arch. You know exactly what you're doing. Great observations and great vid!
She pretty much started learning to dance like that for her Christmas special that year and she's been learning ever since. I would like to see you react to something more recent and/or live. ❤️🎻
This was a great vid. Love this channel and Josephine. Also, I know this is completely out of place for this video, but has Josephine ever reacted to the ending scene in White Christmas? I mean I know it's probably not all that interesting really, but I was just curious if she had before because I want to know her thoughts on the kids low key.
I didn’t know she sang, but her thing is dancing whilst playing her violin. I believe that I read somewhere or heard in an interview that she was a dancer growing up. She could have point experience, and maybe she just hasn’t danced point in a while.
I have followed lindsey sterling for many years, and she has been taught to dance, i think it was i 2007 she was on a talent show with her dancing and playing the violin, so she didn't just show up to dancing with the star i 2017...
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Lindsey Stirling a former dancer? It explains how she looks so good just in the wrong pointe shoes I remember seeing her on dancing with the stars and thinking “wow she has really good technical background” but I don’t believe she won. I believe she got beat out by Jordan Fisher, but she made it to the finale, she has dance experience. She just needs a better point shoes.
@@shannon4386 very very true. Thank you for helping my understanding. For some reason I thought she had been classically trained in ballet, but I have no proof of it.
@@ThatFangurlTho She is almost entirely self-taught, which is saying a lot about her natural-born talent. When she competed in Dancing with the Stars, is when she got serious about getting formal training and refining her technique. Ballet is the most recent dance form she has started to formally learn.
So when growing up Lindseys parents couldn't afford for her to learn both violin and dance so she chose the violin. All dancing ability is from her adulthood onwards.and a lot was self taught I believe. She's mesmerising to watch as she dances (not usually en Pointe to be fair) but she is an incredible dancer.
@@soapygirl83 this. i've seen adults work their way up to pointe within one year of ballet school - and looking at the prices of her concert tickets I'm pretty sure she could've afforded a private teacher of some sort to at least make it *safe*
@@BassKittehz At this point in her career, it is more about having the time, than the money. She had had some formal lessons, but she honestly doesn't have the time to fully devote to this one thing. She has admitted in the past that she learns new stuff just enough to get the job done for a video, then slowly works on getting better at it over time as she can. I sometimes think she already does so much, that doing more just isn't needed. After all, she plays violin, dances, does her own choreography, does costume design, sings, does aerial gymnastics for her show, and is now learning ballet on top of all this? Sheesh, I'm exhausted just thinking about it; i have no idea where she finds the time or energy to even learn the basics.
That was a support rig. Lindsey did a behind the scenes video of it, showing the shoes were nailed to the platform, and her costume was outfitted with a full support rig to hold her up. While she is certainly capable of learning how to properly dance en point, doing so while playing the violin would be ... problematic.
I know this is more about the pointe shoe part...but Josephine's reactions make me think of what her reaction would be to Lindsey Stirling's hair hanging video for Crystalize.
she is taking actual ballet lessons recently from what i remember because she wanted to get better at it. she is an incredible dancer, but admitted that she wasn't the best on point. she dances mostly with boots and goes on her toes in those.
Not justifying anything here, but I have a torn meniscus from dance. I used to take ballet and I was injured... I still get the urge to do a couple quick dance moves, but I can't dance anymore... It hurts a lot. Possibly a similar situation? I don't know. 🤷♀️
If you think Lindsey Stirling is cute, read her autobiography “The Only Pirate At The Party”! It’s just as cute as you think she is and a run read. Check it out!
Hey! So fun fact, Lindsey learned all of this choreo in TWO WEEKS- and she had never done ballet before this. Other dance, yes, but never ballet. Her roommate at the time was a ballerina and helped her learn it. So yes, she admitted that she definitely knew it wasn't perfect.
I admit I’ve done a video/photoshoot s an untrained dancer except a few months of silt lesions. It shouldn’t have happened but I went to a ballet dancer forum asking for lots of pointers to avoid the most common pitfalls that would look incorrect or be unsafe. I would have looked way better with a proper fitting though. Josephine could help so many models and performers that are required to emulate pointe
Even though it's not en pointe, I'd love for you to react to when Lindsey was on Dancing With the Stars! More specifically, her final freestyle with Mark. It's truly a masterpiece and work of art! 💖

It’s not even her first video en pointe. I think she CAN tie shoes properly and knows how. I think it was a gimmick for the video.
I think I got the most entertainment from watching Josephine be kind and say polite things while stopping to stare at the camera (3:46) from time to time and share that 'can you believe this sh*t' moment with the audience.
"She's really cute."
"That's all fine if you're on the couch"
She still is
I love how the other people except for Lindsay‘s shoes are tied correctly
Because the others are actual professional ballet dancers 😅
@@onceuponabrookie2778 They're professional dancers with some ballet training somewhere, but not ballet dancers.
They didn’t correct her? 😭
As I know she has started dancing as an adult, she prepare sets and wardrobe herself, It's awesome! Help her Josephine!
I know nothing about any of this. But great stuff. This lady is so nice.
Lindsay Stirling is such a talented performer her talent is combining her violin performance with dance ,but she probably needs to get fitted by you.
I love how abruptly this ends. I picture that Josephine just starts sobbing. 😂 CUUUUUT!!!!!!
Twoset violin is coming up next to see the violin playing.
Unless its a viola.
I sure am hoping they will haha Her wrist makes me cry.
Sacrilege.
I LOVE LINDSEY STIRLING! I'm going to her concert this month! I highly recommend her!!! It would be so cool for you guys to work together!!!
OMG I absolutely LOVE HER ❤️❤️
I know nothing about ballet but what I learn from these videos and I noticed her right foot.
@@mtl.3333 For me, videos with Point Shop have been a learning experience and I have learned a lot from Josephine.
Once shot she quit that and uses harness in live performance of Crystallize
Never tell Lindsey it is impossible! Lindsey surrounds herself with trained contemporary dancers
Go see a show!
That's nice, she's still going to seriously injure herself.
@@renataravensong 2018 video
Lindsey could have injured herself but did not happen
Now I want to see 2Sets Violin react to this original video
I think they’ve reacted to her before? They definitely know who she is
Same!
I think they would call this cringe-worthy video sacrilege.
😆😆😆 I'm so glad you reacted to this cause your reaction is what I immediately thought of when I 1st saw her video lol
Even as a non ballerina or any other position in the ballet world. I SAW THAT FOOT. and i was scared for her
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard Lindsey Sterling sing before. I absolutely love her. I’m glad Josephine didn’t rip her apart.
She doesn't do ballet, though.
@@renataravensong Not yet anyway, but as others have mentioned, she is learning ,at least in the context of including it more in her dance routines.
I have a completely untrained eye. Never have I ever taken even 1 lesson......in 60 yrs. For people like myself this looks perfect AND she's bringing a whole new generation a glimpse into another world they want to pursue.
omfg that right foot killed me too girl
If the shoe was slightly different and broken in some would it have help or is she not experienced enough? Right foot trauma.
Check out Shatter Me by Lindsey featuring Lzzy Hale. She does some pointe as well in that video.
I was literally thinking about you reacting to this a couple days ago! Love your vids!
This reminds me of the scene in Grease 2 where Sharon and the rest of the “Spring” Pink Lady dancers performed their part in pointe shoes. Bewildering
Your looks burned through the internet.... Excellent positive comments!
Thanks so much, I love Lindsey Stirling❤
Lindsey actually dances ballet. that is why she has such good motion in her feet. Lindsey is incredible flexable.
BEST reaction yet 😁
The only other time I saw her video was when Twoset violin was making fun of her dancing that would no way let her perform on the violin at the same time
i just read that she's self taught and i am screaming
Apparently she had to choose between dance and violin.
I think the artist was trying to make the ribbons look like those short socks with ruffles on them. I think of Shirley Temple as a kid in those socks.
Me sweating cause I got put on pointe year 4 and she said 9 :,)
Learning proper turn puts and calf strength made all the difference for me and I hardly had the range of motion I saw in this video in my ankles and my arch. You know exactly what you're doing. Great observations and great vid!
For major ballet core. Look at the Rodarte campaign. Its stunning
In the splits, I feel like I'm seeing some decent turnout muscles on that right leg! I feel like with actual training she'd be quite good at ballet
I mean I know it's probably not all that interesting really, but I was just curious if she had before because I want to know her thoughts on the kids low key.
would be interesting. I question the pointe work every time I see that scene.
Dont worry Josephine, she was kinda trained but Lindsey had an injury on the one foot😊🙈
I didn’t know she sang, but her thing is dancing whilst playing her violin. I believe that I read somewhere or heard in an interview that she was a dancer growing up. She could have point experience, and maybe she just hasn’t danced point in a while.
I know she was on dancing with the stars in the past.
She doesn't actually have any dance "background." She started formal training something in the neighborhood of 10 years ago.
@@ThatFangurlTho She is almost entirely self-taught, which is saying a lot about her natural-born talent. When she competed in Dancing with the Stars, is when she got serious about getting formal training and refining her technique. Ballet is the most recent dance form she has started to formally learn.
not her hands being like 🫳 the whole time
So when growing up Lindseys parents couldn't afford for her to learn both violin and dance so she chose the violin. All dancing ability is from her adulthood onwards.and a lot was self taught I believe. She's mesmerising to watch as she dances (not usually en Pointe to be fair) but she is an incredible dancer.
Yeah but certainly she has the money to like hire a ballet teacher/choreographer and make sure that she's doing point safely and correctly
If you want a good video with Lindsey on pointe, please watch Shatter Me. It is one of my favorites!
That was a support rig. Lindsey did a behind the scenes video of it, showing the shoes were nailed to the platform, and her costume was outfitted with a full support rig to hold her up. While she is certainly capable of learning how to properly dance en point, doing so while playing the violin would be ... problematic.
@@nispelsm I’ve seen the behind the scenes video, but it’s still a really cool concept 😄
Lindsey Stirling is a dancer been on pointe before and a great musician
A former colleague actually filmed Lindsay's first music video showing her violin talent. She was also on America's Got Talent years ago.
You should react to Brooklyn and Bailey trying ballet on the Rybka twins channel!
I wanted to tag you in her video SO bad!!
Im just here to see Lindsey❤
petition to get these two to meet.
Haha. Thank you. 🩰🩰🩰
I know this is more about the pointe shoe part...but Josephine's reactions make me think of what her reaction would be to Lindsey Stirling's hair hanging video for Crystalize.
I believe that Lindsey has ballet in her repertoire of talents.
I've only been dancing for 7 years and then my teacher put me on pointe 😁
Omg Im earllyyyy Btw love ur videosss
Lindsey Stirling does not need to stop.
You should check out Lindsey's video Shatter Me. She is an awesome girl and has ballet training.
she is taking actual ballet lessons recently from what i remember because she wanted to get better at it. she is an incredible dancer, but admitted that she wasn't the best on point. she dances mostly with boots and goes on her toes in those.
She was on DWTS!
Ive never been this early lol! Love u and ur videos!
also second comment!
She won Dancing with the Stars one season....
and that excuses not taking private dance lessons before this kind of video, putting her own health at risk?
I think she’s done point before but I don’t know if it was like in an actual studio??? Idk please a collab would be wicked!!!
She needs to watch the behind the scenes of this video. Lindsey had never done ballet before this video.
You need the watch the behind the Scenes of Lindsey Stirlings video (Shader Me) when they drill her point shoe to the ground! YALL NEED TO SEE THAT!!
its funny to me when i her Josephine say that it takes a very long time to get into pointe shoes, but at the studio i danced in i got into pointe shoes (with permission from my instructor) in three weeks 🤣
Lindsay actually has had some dance training. Dancing and playing the violin was actually her act on AGT
Can you react to Brooklyn and Bailey trying pointe with the Rybka twins
Someone please tag Lindsey!
