Josephine : Why would you use your talent for evil?
Me: 🤣
I loved that part!😆
Same and it was so much funnier because I can do that and when I’m standing on the side even in classes other than ballet I’ll just stand like that
When you’re watching a pointe shoe fitter react to ballet tiktoks, and then randomly hear Markiplier as a sound 😂😂😂
I feel like that was him at 6:37 XD
@@Zaftique it was the smash or pass sound, so if that’s the timestamp, you right
@@AbstractlyDelen no, I mean the part with their feet facing backwards 🤣
@@Zaftique no, that’s Wildcat (tyler)
@@AbstractlyDelen you find the time stamp
As a theatre major, raked stages are a rarity in America because they were (understandably) a little hard to adjust for performers, esp because although a 45-degree angle is the most common, it's not something that is standardized. It can also look weird because it uses forced perspective to give everyone in the theater the same/similar view, so a lot of actors appeared to be limping when crossing the stage. Basically, as humans going to see performances, we went from raked seating and flat stage (think: greek amphitheaters like Epidaurus) to flat seating and raked stage (like in the tiktok) back to raked seating and flat stage (like a movie theater). Fun fact: raked stages are where we get the terms "upstage" and "downstage" from!
Yeah and the reason why the rakes still exist is mainly because the old theatres want to keep it the same as it historically was, which I really adore, keeping the history. But yeah they were mainly from Middle Ages so thus mainly in historic European theatres.
The original Met Opera House had a raked stage. Fun story, my mom was pregnant with me, singing Boris Goudonof at the old Met with Martti Talvela singing the title role. He was a method actor, and when my mother came to beg for food for the starving serfs at his feet, he flung her away from himself, as opposed to recoiling and letting the guards (already crossing to come get her) take her away. Mom, 8 months pregnant, goes rolling down the raked stage, and is grabbed, by her costume, mere inches from the drop into the orchestra pit. Management was waiting for her in the wings when she got offstage to tell her that her maternity leave started NOW!
@@wuzadivaOh, my gosh! This just added a new fear! I love singing and have trained so hard. It would be my DREAM to perform at the Met. However, I also want babies. How do people not think!? She was pregnant!
Even if it's not a raked stage anymore, that image is now stuck in my head!
5:26 that’s the energy I want to see when people listen to classical music cuz that’s the energy I get when I listen
"Training for the Ballet, Pottah"
😂😂😂😂
At 2:40 that's Georgian national dance 🇬🇪 I've seen them in your other vids, always blowing everyone's mind! I recommend checking out Sukhishvili, one of Georgia's more famous ensembles.
Oh cool rec tysm!
Omg I knew it!!! Those crazy turns and floor work will always give it away
I came to comment this.
Erisioni is also good.
Josephine, this time I brought my 7 year old son over and had him watch your reaction to the "dancer with strong feet" when she had her toes bent over and was walking on the knuckles. He saw your reaction of "No! Why would you do that! Don't do that!" Then he grinned at me and said "I'm better at it than she is" and proceeded to RUN across the floor on his toe knuckles and giggle... I'm doomed with this forever!
Oh man it is like when my six year old was working on a queen of the night recording project. So that is a crazy high soprano part. I told her not to put the little arrow in the red zone and cause ear pain to mommy🤣
My cousin could do that.
wait I can walk like that isn't that normal😭
Literally made a tiktok to watch the cow dancer at 6:08 on repeat. I don't even dance at all. But he is MESMERIZING. I love the late plie when he switched arm positions and so cockily looked up at his hand to transition.
what's his handle?
Yay! Thank you so much! Hearing you say I was gorgeous made me so happy! (2:22) I actually do this for a job though so I wear new shoes on the street! I try not to wear new shoes when it’s raining though 😅
I try not to dance in the rain in general 😂
You are such a beautiful and amazing dancer
@@tori_dances8612 thank you!
You really are lovely!
Lol I knew something was up when there wasn’t a cup TikTok lol I’m dying. 💖💖💖
I actually started doing my barre warmups as low impact exercise to bring back agility and strengthen my knees. Thanks for the inspiration with your videos! (I would also definitely join you at the gym to show off that we're performers)
I didn't know it was a possibility, but it makes sense!
I wish there was some kind of ballet classes aimed at people who are doing physical therapy.
@@_SpreadingLove_ I have chronic knee issues after an injury when I was 11, so doing barre warmups has really helped a lot outside of physical therapy.
@@_SpreadingLove_ seriously, i have been searching for something like this!!
@@dasiavou Me too!
2:40 is the Georgian National Dance. They have their own crazy ass form of ballet and it’s super cool.
I love seeing Silver Swans dance, ballet is for all ages, even us oldies x
Yes indeed, I'm a silver swan....or a silver-plated duck!
@@ritawing1064 Me too. The creaky knees are louder than my music lol
@@kitsirainbowfineart cheers! 💖
@@kitsirainbowfineart I dance with silver swans quite often and when I move it sounds like rice crispies
@@Ali-mv3jc We are very musical in our own way 😆 x
If all farm guys could dance like that guy, I would’ve stayed in my little rural town!
He's a ballet dancer and a very good one, not just a farm guy😀.
That baby at the ballet was how my daughter reacted to Highland dancing - she's going to be 3 when she starts in the fall 😁
Allow me to state for the record that I am NOT a ballerina. I have ZERO dance training. But I CANNOT STOP WATCHING HER VIDEOS. SEND HELP.
Yeah same! Josephine's videos were recommended to me, no idea why...but I proceeded to watch all her "react" videos and then started watching her pointe shoe fittings and everything else.
As a non-ballerina, non-dancer I have so much pointe knowledge with nothing to do with it except bug my husband and tell him interesting things I learned!
5:31: POV every ballerina right before they go on stage to perform, jamming out to the hip hop song playing before them.
❤ending was glorious :) - thank you Australia!
lovely mix of videos this time - almost had a theme - ballet for all ages❣
Have you ever had a dancer come in for a fitting and break the shoe just from trying it on? Because all these stories of people breaking their shoes in 30 mins and being so soft just after buying them, I'd love to know does it ever happen in a fitting? 😂
Usually in fittings they have you step up onto pointe instead of rolling through so you don’t break the shoes. It’s the action of rolling through and articulating through your feet that molds/breaks the shoe.
@@bg9860 Fascinating! Thank you for telling me! I just find how differently breaking shoes happens so interesting :D
Also, dancers pretty much take all their aggression out on their shoes before they even wear them the first time so they CAN wear them and that's another big reason they won't last as long. 😅
Rake stages are why the terms are upstage and downstage. Because you are physically going down the stage when coming to the front and going up the stage when going to the back.
I literally had just finished explaining to my husband how you got popular because of the cup videos and then the cups arrived! (≧∇≦) Could not have timed that better if I TRIED.
Nah she was popular before that. The cup vids just traumatized her.
I binged all your tick-tock videos (and then some...😅). How are you so wholesome??? 😭❤️
Also, I never did any ballet but now all of the ads I see are for pointe shoes. 🤣
You're the best, can't wait for the next one. 🤩
I love the "ya'll dont listenvto clasical music" one😂 i need more
i also have a broken arm so with the dancing grandmas i cried 😭❤
8:40
one of my friends in my drama class used to ballet and when she was bored she would walk around like this and i would nearly crying every single time 😭 😭
the granny's in 5:50 reminded me when I went to my sisters rescietel (I have no clue how to type that word) there this granny's dancing Flamenco and they were adorable! but they also did so good and smoothly >w
We need more, i love these videos xx
I remember one of the 1st instructions my ballet teacher gave the class, "tuck your butt in." For life of me I seriously thought she lost her marbles. I only took classes for about 2yrs. The world of dance isn't for me. But walked away with a deep appreciation for it.
At a dance studio I used to work at, every year one of the other instructors, who is also a photographer, took photos of the older students outside. The photos were always gorgeous! One year, I was out for several months because of a surgery and my boss sent me one of the photos, taken while I was out, signed by my advanced pointe students as a get well card. It was very sweet! Except...the dancer in the center was in shoes SO DEAD the poor girl's feet were practically folded in half. XD I'm not exactly sure who let that poor girl wear those things, (or why she herself thought it was okay? We talked all the time about shoe safety). I still have the photo becasue I love my students and it really was a sweet sentiment. But it makes me wince every time I look at it!
I love how Josephine reacted to the Harry Potter one saying "I'm team slytherin" and then like 5 seconds later she said "We hat you" to the girl with the strong ankles and feet 🤣
Also, DON'T COME FOR ME, I KNOW THAT BEING MEAN IS NOT THE ONLY ASPECT FOR SLITHERINS, I just thought it was funny when I made that connection
I’ve been watching your channel for months, and I finally got a pointe shoe sponsored ad on my social media. So shoutout to Bloch shoes for knowing their audience.
5:14
me in the background of any rehearsal
The stretching one leg vs the other hit way too close to home
frrrr
So thankful for this channel! Wholesome and funny 🤍✨
I directed an operetta once where the first weekend was on a flat stage and the second weekend was on a raked stage. I knew the set would have to be adjusted, but nothing really prepares you until you get in the house.
For Halloween she needs one straight cups. 😂😂
Josephine, your commentary is so relatable! 💗 And your laughter is contagious. Thank you for being you. 🫶🏼 Yes queen! 💅🏼✨
Love your laugh🤩. It gives me good mood to hear this😊. It's actually rare to see someone laughing so sincerely and whole heartedly nowadays.❤
I love these videos!
please continue these!!
Yesss!
I like when they turned you into an ambulance lol
the dude in 6:35 in the muks... dang broo.... he really had those broken in because I can't bend my ankle in mine lmao
3:39 this scalp massage is the best part of your day
I love Harry Potter and I love how the "training for the ballet POTTAH". Bro she does the best Harry Potter vids
The man spinning around like a madman, that’s Georgian national ballet, I’d love if you react to some of our dances
The dancing en pointe in boots just kills me.
The dancing to classical music is literally me like nutcracker season 👀 I be jamming to party music 24/7
Omg! I did an Alice in Wonderland ballet performance two years ago (Played the March Hare) and I danced to "dancing with the bear" from "finding neverland" ! I started to do coro to it😂 (the song the older ladies where dancing to)
Best reaction video yet! Those cups at the end though - ROFL!
6:06 Don't worry, Josephine, I was blushing too, haha!
omg i love the person who does the draco malfoy ballet. Like i watch her now and then on instagram and she's so iconic fr fr
5:57 so real, there was a girl in my class with a fractured arm and when we went to bar she was at the back still doing it like a boss ❤
Awesome video as always.
Josephine has succumbed to the cups now
5:21 That is me when i hear classcial music aka all the time
Your laugh is so cute it sounds so perfect
The Gershwin stage on Broadway (where Wicked has been for 20 years) is raked :), but I think only a few of the dancer tracks include pointework.
Love your reactions
Omg thank you so much for the tip Josephine!!! 😊😊😊
I was told that I had a similar reaction to ballet when i was a baby too, though slightly more mesmerized lol.
I wanna pick up ballet so bad but there are no studios nearby that teach adults :') I'd have to go out of town.
I know that this is hella random, but I'd love Josephine to review Manon, the new Street Fighter 6 character who incorporates ballet into her moveset. Just saw a video of her fighting against Cammy and SHE CAN PIROUETTE PARRY! It's freaking cool!
8:46 my mom walking around the house when she was younger
I am such an incorrigible fandom nerd, the cute old ladies made my brain go: "Jocasta Nu doing ballet!" And now I can't get the idea out of my head.
The end was great!
on 2:50 it was georgian traditional dance
Yayyyy you got the beautiful Grishcups!! May be a little difficult to roll through in but they’re a lovely colour haha
The cups!!!!! Omgosh what a great gift. 😅😂😊
As soon as I seen *screams in Josephine* on the title I clicked as fast as you could say ballet 😂😂
That last one... I was in a show with a guy who was a dancer (the show was Lucky Stiff, he played the dead body who was the only person who danced since it was a low budget theater and we didn't have a choreographer) he was showing off just like that back stage AND THEN HE STARTED JUMPING
If you’re ever in London you should definitely try to get a tour of ENB’s HQ which has an amazing fitness area with weights and Pilates kit, and a rehab/physio suite (and a hydrotherapy pool!)
“Grandma, can we make cookies today?” “NO, Lindsay I have ballet, and that means you need to go home”
That girl dancing outside, does that regularly in Melbourne (opposite the Town Hall in this one). Her shoes always freaks me out, because they are totally trashed.
4:45 me when I’m home alone 😂😂😂
it’s always so funny to me when we go from cute baby to beautiful adult to cute grandparent
seventeenth! anyways ily Josephine for the vids:D (and also your reactions😂
Harry holding dobby got me he stared into my soul
The grishcups are killing me. Over here in my 5 xxx Grishes just chilling on the literal last pair in the city ooope. 😂
Omg I just watched a video and it popped up in this compilation
it took 18 videos but joesephine was finally confronted by the cups!
I walk on my feet like the last one literally all the time 😂 sometimes I don’t realize how weird it is especially to people that don’t dance and they’ll just stare at me in disbelief 😂😂
Josephine is going to end up with a warehouse full of cups! LOL
Omgosh that bobbypin one tho I can so relate😢
yehess love these videos
If you don't do a cup fitting video for April fools, I'm gonna... I'm gonna... I dunno... get some badly fitted cups! And it's gonna be your fault!
YAY LEWIS IS ON HERE I LOVE HIM 😂😂😂
i cross train with strength training! it’s helped immensely in the studio, but my trainer loves to use “‘cuz you’re a dancer” as an excuse for things 😂
5:19 best part ever😂 But seriously I love that 🎶
Me watching Josephine put on the cups: YOU BECAME THE VERY THING YOU SWORE TO DESTROY
OMG I WAS JUMPING UP AND DOWN WHEN I SAW THIS VID
omg the gifted cups!!! i've never laughed so hard XD
Whatching your videos makes me wanting to learn ballet. Sadly I am overweight and not flexible at all so I don't have the balls to start to go to ballet class :(
Ballet is for everyone, I promise ♡ if you can find a studio that feels safe and welcoming, I highly recommend you at least try a class or a few. I've danced with people of all sizes and abilities for many years, and we would all be happy to have you join us in class.
Ballet is for everyone.
I'm overweight too and a complete beginner at 38. You just need to find a good studio for adult beginners x
Im so used to raked stages because when I was young we used to perform at our little town hall with a tiny but HEAVILY angled stage 😂
The video with the guy and the cows is what the New Zealand ballerinas be doing. I have yet to meet one in the wild, but I know that they'll be doing this when I do.
Apparently raked stages are super common on broadway, as far as raked stages in the states lol
5:41 POV: my grandma after she watched swan lake and found out i also go to dance lessons
As someone who grew up on a farm, we gotta keep ourselves entertained
My aerial dancing teacher does actions on the floor and makes the strangest noises. It’s so funny 😂😂
Oh that clip of the really fast spinning with the drums in the back is Georgian Sword Dancing or traditional dancing I think! It's almost like ballet but it seems really intense.
That last one was me… two years before I even got my pointe shoes. All the girls that were en pointe looked at me in horror and I was like “what, who needs pointe shoes when your feet are this strong?”
Them: “Teacher, look what she’s doing!!!”
Then came all the grumbling from my teacher about how I “wasn’t ready for pointe yet” (I just wasn’t great with my arms and balance… so I got my shoes late, even tho, obviously I was strong enough. I literally would do pirouettes en pointe in my dance sneakers and they were like… “not ready”)
In Italy all the traditional stages are tilted….. you get use to it love you 🥰
I started watching this and I put on my points used to dance a little bit
