    Thank you. I just changed my oil using your video. For the 2nd time. I changed at 2000 miles and now at 6000 miles. I didn't reset, so my next one will be free at the dealer. Mine is currently at 50%. Hopefully, I can take advantage of the free service at 10000 miles. I should do a tire rotation now, too. Thanks again.

    I was told by Honda not to change the FIRST engine oil too early. The special engine oil from the factory is designed to lube and coat the engine and it is best to remain in the engine until the first manufacturer recommended oil change schedule. After the first oil change, you can change the engine oil early if you want. Prematurely doing the FIRST engine oil change will shorten the engine life.

    • @IvanRossS
      @IvanRossS  Год назад +9

      Yes first oil do not change at 1000 or 2,000 miles.... some people do that lol. 6000 miles on first oil is more then enough

    • @blackdan0259
      @blackdan0259 Год назад +9

      you was told? Well, then you should think and make your own decision whether you want to do so or not! As for me, all of my Honda and Toyota break in oil will get changed at 1000-1500 miles. Never, aside the one who got a turbo, has any problem. I sold the one with Turbo, you know what brand! The rest made it to 200k miles, so you decide yourself, what you got told is just a told!

    • @mccalejk2
      @mccalejk2 Год назад +7

      You were told by Honda or a Honda dealership? I sincerely doubt either one of them knows what they are talking about.
      There is a Toyota guy on YT that rips an engine apart and shows you what happens to an engine if you listen to the manufactures maintenance schedule. They want you to trash your engine outside of the warranty.
      I changed my oil the day I bought it.

    • @TYPICALTRYHARD_
      @TYPICALTRYHARD_ Год назад +5

      @@mccalejk2 general rule if the manufacturer says 10k miles they are bs you change it every 5k miles or slightly lower. I wouldn't change the oil in a new car immediately since the oil that comes from factory does help with break in. I think everyone knows you should baby your engine during the first 5k miles to help break it in so no harsh acceleration and such.

      Huh ?.... what are you talking about? You never remove oil filter first you have to drain the oil and then remote filter... Da......

    How much will you save if you do it yourself?

      If not to be bougie by purchasing OEM oil you can get 5 quarts Castro or Mobil1 for $30 top + $10 for OEM filter or you going to pay roughly the same price for aftermarket Bosch or Mobil1 filter. So you're going to pay top $40 for full oil change if you do you self. If you take it to the dealer you going to pay over $100. If you take it somewhere to a cheap quick lube services it might going to be cheaper but you do not know if actually changed oil or filter properly. I do not trust those places

      I think the main argument to change your own fluids is you knowing 100% what is happening. Even going to dealers, you get inconsistent information. For expample I went to 2 dealers and they gave me different information on my inspection reports. Any time I get a recommendation for a repair, I get a second opinion.

      I change my oil every 5,000 miles. Honda won't do that, so I'll change mine at 5,000 and then let them change it at 10,000.

      Be sure to leave the bottom panel off when you go for your oil change so they don't cross thread those fasteners. They'll probably also over-torque your plug and underfill your oil. If you want something done right, do it yourself.@@bretak74
