Dokken wrote this song for “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors”. My favorite Elm Street movie! The girl is Patricia Arquette who stars in the movie. By the way, it’s funny you did this reaction because today is actually the 40th anniversary of the original “A Nightmare on Elm Street”.

@@ctcanine I get it. The first old moment was when the DJ announced oldie from Def Leppard. Do you think the young whippersnappers would believe us if we told them our only phone was attached to the wall with a cord and didn't connect to the web because the web didn't exist. Then again, we were allowed to go anywhere without parental supervision and most parents said "be home by dark" while others didn't even care about that.

Cool thing was the Dokken video was an extra that came on after the end credits on the VHS version of Nightmare On Elm Street 3 Dream Warriors and was even added as a DVD/Bluray extra as well. Not many bands got that kind of treatment, but they did write the song specifically for the film and Robert Englund did participate in the video, so you know the studio was hoping it would help to promote the film via MTV and Much Music when it was released.

It's cool that you're rockin' with Dokken! "Into the Fire", "Breaking the Chains", "Paris is Burning"... They're one of the few consistently good Pop Metal bands from that era, and George Lynch is an awesome guitarist.

That's an excellent lineup of Dokken songs. I have listened to a lot of their stuff over the decades. Way back when I was in college, we opened for them at a local sports bar club. Was fun to hang out with them. They put on a pretty good show. Have also seen them on a few bigger stages. Always great to see them. Been a fan of George Lynch for a long time.

The little girl says "Freddy's home..." It's definitely weird that you had a crush on Freddy especially given his backstory. "Dream Warriors" is the fan favorite of the series. This video came out around the time that MTV was in its rise to popularity, and they actually played music videos! I'm pretty sure it was the first of its kind!

In 1989, Dokken broke up. Don Dokken went solo, Guitarist George Lynch formed Lynch Mob and Bassist Jeff Pilson, switching to lead vocals and guitar, formed Flesh & Blood. Dokken would reunite in 1993. Of the acts formed during the breakup, I think Lynch Mob was the best.

The blonde is Patricia Arquette. She is probably best known for her tv series "Medium." She stars in my second favorite film "True Romance" written by Quintin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott (Top Gun). For those who are curious "Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn" is #1. Her brother is David Arquette (Deputy Dewy in Scream and husband of Courtney Cox.)

Love this! Great movie, too. I saw it in theaters back in the day. This video was ALL over MTV when the movie released. I just wish the video was for sale on iTunes.
Also, since you're into the "Horror" genre, I'm going to suggest a movie for you: "Dee Snyder's Strangeland". It actually has a connection to the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, as Robert Englund (Freddie Kruger himself) is in it as a supporting character. Dee Snyder is the main villain, though.
The movie is loosely based on the "Horror Terria" song(s) on Twisted Sister's "Stay Hungry" album.

I’m glad people are still discovering Dokken.
Nightmare on Elm Street 3 had the music video on the DVD and that’s how I discovered Dokken. I was like these guys sound cool, and it turns out they had 6 epic albums released between 1983-1990. George Lynch was a badass guitarist and Don Dokken was the quintessential 80s melodic metal singer. Great band easily in the top 5 best 80s metal/hard rock bands.

Patricia Arquette and I were born on the same day and year on April 8th, 1968. I also rented a car (Budget) to George Lynch guitarist from Dokken, and his band Lynch Mob. Him and Don Dokken are always feuding. And one more thing, I drove Wes Craven the creator of Nightmare on Elm Street, from LAX to his home on the top of Hollywood Hills, working for a limo service company. He let me go inside his house to put the heavy luggage inside. He showed me the window view of Hollywood down below. He also told me Steve McQueen formerly owned the house.

Dokken are often pidgeonholed as an 80's 'hair band'... but they were one of the best of that era and they proved in the 90's and beyond that they were capable of evolving beyond their 80's sound on criminally overlooked albums.
Both Don Dokken (vocals) and George Lynch (guitars) had been playing in the L.A. scene since the 70's before Van Halen got signed and became stars by 1978... Don & George did not get along but George Lynch was a stellar guitar player and Don recognized his talents... By the early 80's, Dokken ventured to Europe w/ Mick Brown (drums) and Juan Croucier (bass) hoping to secure a record deal. They finally got the finances to record their debut album 'Breaking the chains' released in 1983... Juan Croucier left Dokken to join the band Ratt and Jeff Pilson (bass) replaced him. It was Dokken's 2nd album 'Tooth and Nail' that achieved platinum success w/ hits on MTV - 'Just got lucky'... and the ballad 'Alone again'...
Dokken used the glam rock image to their advantage and score more platinum records - 'Under lock and key' in 1985... and 'Back for the attack' in 1987... followed by the stellar live album 'Beast from the East' in 1988.
However by 1987, the antagonism between Don Dokken and George Lynch was so bad that the 2 had to record in studios located in separate states... In 1988, Dokken was on the 'Monsters of Rock' tour and Metallica played before them and left them w/ no crowd (The press joked that Metallica sold the most merch on the bill and Dokken sold the most hot dogs during their set) A furious Don Dokken announced that the band was over and Dokken split in 1989... Don Dokken had to release the album 'Up from the ashes' in 1990 as a solo album because he couldn't use the band name Dokken.
In 1994, Dokken reunited for the '95 album 'Dysfunctional' and still sold decently in the 90's grunge era... However, guitarist George Lynch insisted on making Dokken's 1997 album 'Shadowlife' a grunge rock album... George Lynch was fired in 1998 after the album flopped commercially... Dokken continued to record and tour for albums like 'Erase the slate'... 'Long way home' ... 'Hell to pay'... but bassist Jeff Pilson was fired in the 2000's (Jeff Pilson joined the classic rock band Foreigner on bass) and drummer Mick Brown recently retired citing health issues.
Don Dokken and George Lynch finally reconciled and performed together often, even w/ Dokken's current guitarist Jon Levin.

They had another song in Nightmare 3 called "Into the Fire." It plays when Kristin turns the radio on to keep from falling asleep. When they released the film on home video, they didn't have the licensing rights to it, so they changed it to a song from another New Line film, Quiet Cool. This was fixed for dvd later on. Don Dokken and George Lynch kind of always hated each other, which is why the bassist (Jeff Pilson) is walking down that hallway with Don. Don kept Dokken going with different members, George formed his own band and did solo stuff, Mick (the drummer) played with both groups and did side projects with artists like Ted Nugent and Jeff had his own band called War and Peace and also became Ronnie James Dio's bassist for a long time and also plays with Foreigner.

Okay, so I am ultimate badass - I fear nothing... except Freddy when I was child. So it is hilarious for me that you got crush on him. Even now 25 years later when I am working on cemetery I am not scared, I can watch every horror movie except Nightmare on Elm Street. You should totally rewatch entire series. Each installment is unique and there is more than 4 parts.
1st is the original and the scariest.
2nd is very underrated but nowadays it's getting more recognition.
3rd is titular Dream Warriors and is considered the best or equal to the first one.
4th is great also. People are hehe sleeping on this installment. And here is interesting note - This movie has awesome soundtrack and you should totally react to the song from this - it is Dramarama - Anything. Very good song. Would love to see you listen to it.
5th is when NOES is going downward spiral. It is mediocre.
6th is even worse than 5th
7th is mentioned by you New Nightmare which is return to series glorious days.
Then Freddy vs Jason and remake but we don't speak about remake.
Now when I heard your story about horrors it would be absolutely awesome to see you reacting to movies. Maybe new channel heh? 😅
Funny Trivia - Dokken members even did cocaine snorting it from Freddy's glove while doing this music video. Anyway good song. Always love you Ray, Ray.
