this fails to take into account that almost every time you spend that money you also get taxed. its nearly impossible to get ahead in canada

You're forgetting the rest of the taxes.

  • @Notjobincome

If you make more than 100k net, you should set up a corporation and ask your company to pay your corp instead of your name and get taxed at 6-7% then pay yourself

Though most Albertians don't make that much. It's sad that someone making $30/hour takes home close to what I make on handicap assistance (AISH)

$65,000 - How people afford $1 Million "average" House in CANADA ???? Very difficult.

  • @nadevods2431

Now add in bills mortgage insurance truck payments, property taxes etc, you have nothing left.

Now add the sales tax, carbon tax and other taxes made on purchases when spending that "after tax" income. Not much left.

Not good but not bad either, Americans pay similar amounts in certain states with that same income

Seems daunting, until I compare it to here in Vancouver lol. Then all of the sudden, even though Calgary isn't perfect either, it seems more desirable to me, even being a 6th gen Vancouverite.
