bigoldinosaur I saw them with my parents when I was 5. They signed autographs after the show and my dad wanted to get a picture of me with them. My mom didn't think he could pull that off, but he coated with the keyboard player and arranged it. Unfortunately, my mom used up all the film. Bummer, but from what I recall, a good show. Good memries.

The Statler Brothers got their start in 1964 as part of the Johnny Paycheck show. They later wrote a song honoring him entitled, "We Got Paid by Paycheck".

I'm pretty sure it was Johnny Cash who Helped The Statlers as his backup group in The Johnny cash show in 64 till 72 I believe and oh The title of the song was "We Got Paid By Cash" in their 10th anniversary Album with mercury records in 1980 and the "10th Anniversary" was the title of their album.

No, it's Harold Reid, Phil Balsley, Don Reid, & Jimmy Fortune. Golden & Bonsall are in the Oak Ridge Boys

Duane Allen & Richard Sterban were originally with the Statler Brothers. Lew DeWitt then joined Highway 101.
The Statler Brothers got their name because they are all brothers & their actual last name is Statler.
Their first #1 hit came in 1965 ^ was written by Lew DeWitt. It was entitled, "Atlanta Blue".
Steve Sanders was with the group Alabama.

@@monerz1 Wow, Al you have some wild information, and it is incorrect. Dwayne Allen and Richard Sterban have never been a part of The Statler Brothers they are with The Oak Ridge Boys. Lew DeWitt has never been a part of Highway 101. Lew retired from the statler's in 1982 due to his battle with crohn's disease, that is when Jimmy Fortune joined the Statler Brothers. The group got their name Statler from a box of tissues that they saw in a hotel room early on in their career. Their personal name is not Statler. There are two brothers Harold and Don Reid. The other members are Phil Balsley, Lew DeWitt who had to retire, and Jimmy Fortune. As Harold Reid has joked over the years, their name could have been the kleenex Brothers.
You are correct that their first number one hit came in 1965 and was written by Lew DeWitt, it was Flowers on the Wall. Atlanta Blue another song by The Statler Brothers was from 1984.
Steve Sanders was with The Oak Ridge Boys, he was a replacement for William Lee Golden when he left The Oak Ridge Boys in 1987. William Lee Golden returned to The Oak Ridge Boys in 1995, sadly in 1998 Steve Sanders took his own life, suicide.
If you're not sure of your information Al, all you have to do is check the websites of the entertainers.
This information is known to me because I was a broadcaster for many years in country radio and I have met The Statler Brothers and The Oak Ridge Boys. I know their background. For you again check the group's websites, even Wikipedia to get correct information.

Oh. So, the Oak Ridge Boys did, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"? By the way, it's "Duane" Allen. Willie Wynn was with the group Alabama.
