We had this song on my daddys funeral tribute video. He was a praying man. Many times he would go to our little country church in the early morning hours and pray. When he wasn't able any more, he had dementia, we would find him many times, singing and praying and tears rolling down his eyes. He and Jesus had a relationship and even dementia didn't destroy it.
same! I was going through the loss of my mother so when i heard this song tears instantly hit my eyes… This song is so simple yet so beautiful! Can’t believe he made this song in like 15 mins..
Absolutely beautiful song!! We all know that he can really belt out song when he wants to, but the way he refrains from it here, and approaches it with a much more refined and softer sound, yet you still feel all of the passion and emotion that you’d get with all of his other songs is breathtaking. Same thing when he sang the National Anthem. He could’ve easily got up there and belted it out, like so many others have done, but he chose to rein it in and go with a deeper, and more respectful approach. That’s the skills that truly sets him apart from all the rest. He has a such a vast range of vocal abilities, but knowing when and how to use them correctly is what truly makes him stand out from all the rest. And this is one of those songs, no matter how many times I hear it I still get choked up and shed a few tears.
VloggingWithGreg your reaction is the best I’ve seen from other reactors I’ve watched do this song. Chris wrote this song right after his father passed away a couple of years ago. Beautiful song. Thanks for the reaction fren!
Like you, first time I heard it, I was like, why?! Then, like you I went on with it. It blew me away!! Deep tune! Keep’m coming brother…you never disappoint. Love ya man!! 😎
The first time I heard this song was on Yellowstone...as John Dutton rode horses with his father then sat looking over the valley, talking as the older Dutton slipped away. It is a heart wrenching scene.
Hi there. Thanks so much for doing this video. I will admit that I am not much of a country fan but listening to the words of this song is quite powerful. Incredible voices as well. Thanks so much for what you do because you do it so well. Take care and blessings to you from the UK.
Hi Greg. I like you had never heard this song before and also, like you, I was NOT expecting the story to end like it did. That was actually hurtful to hear that his father had passed away. I was hoping for him to return to his faith and make his peace with his life. Chris Stapleton takes us all on journeys with him in his songs. THIS really makes you reflect on your own life. Powerful. Thank You for introducing this to me today.. 🙏💓
"I was waiting on them to say that something happened in his life to where he changed to where he didn't want to pray anymore. That he didn't have to pray anymore." Well...
Such a beautiful song. There’s this song called “I remember everything” by Zach Bryan (not sure about the spelling) that I would love to see you react to.
You said you like songs like these I have a few broken Wing by Martina McBride. Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot. If you can Read My mind by Gordon Lightfoot. And Coward of the county by Kenny Rogers thank you very much in advance take care bye❤❤❤❤❤❤ shadow
Chris Stapleton is a national treasure. We should protect him at all costs. This is perfection. And a GREAT reaction.

Fell in love with this song the minute I heard it on Yellowstone when John Dutton's dad passed away in one of John's memory flashback.

Just another reason why Chris Stapleton is one of my favorites. That song will touch your soul.

He wrote this in 20 minutes while waiting on his wife to finish dressing. It was recorded only a short while after his father's death.
