So glad his wife talked him into singing. He was just mostly a wonderful song writer. His wife said you need to share your gift. He's 1 of my favorites
That's a bit of an exaggeration. He had gotten discouraged and left The Steeldrivers and was mostly just recording an occasional record (not touring) with the Jomas Brothers. Most of his income had come from Song Writing (with several number 1 songs) so he had decided to concentrate on where he was making money. He just needed someone to kick him in the butt to get out of feeling sorry for himself. In my opinion it was bound to happen, Morgane just expedited the process.
Then "Tennessee Whiskey" exploded getting him CMA New Artist and Morgane and Jessica hatched a plot to extort more time from CMA (by including Jessica's husband Justin Timberlake) at the award show and to quote Chris, "It was like lightning in a bottle" and the rest is history.
If the timing had been different though and Morgane hadn't kicked him in the butt or called Jessica to give Justin his marching orders (We all know they only let us men think we are in charge) things might not have happened the way they have.
This is a cover of John Fogerty's song from his album "Blue Moon Swamp". I suggest checking out his version as well, live. He plays the Resonator guitar on it and his voice is just perfection. He wrote it for his wife Julie who encouraged him to get back into music after he quit when his brother Tom died. Tom was also a member of CCR. Sadly, the two brothers had a falling out and Tom died before they could make up. Such a sweet song for anyone close to you.

The man writes the most beautiful love songs for his wife. They are each others soul mates. It shows in his writing and singing. You might give a listen to him singing on the Bobby bones show "your man". Josh turner made the song famous, but Chris wrote it and turns it up!! Although this is a cover, like all the other covers, he does it better.

I, too, agree will the below comment. This song has ALWAYS been one of my Top 5 songs of all time, even before Stapleton released his version of “The Joy of My Life”, by John Fogerty. The original is just as great. It does have an older sound but still a classic. John Fogerty wrote this song about his wife. Check that one out too. I believe you’ll really like that too.
