In spite of all of life’s problems, his father always prayed….all the way to the day he died!! He didn’t lose his faith, he only stopped praying because he died.
Actually, I saw the interview with Chris and his wife. He wrote the song in about 15 minutes. This man has been given a talent beyond all others! We played this song at my daddy‘s funeral. It was the last song we played before they took his body out to the hearse. This song meant so much to me. The last five months of my daddy’s life I took care of him. His room was across the hall from mine and I heard him when he would get down on his knees and pray. He would pray and ask God why he couldn’t just go ahead and die because all he wanted to do was be with my mama. My mama passed away five months before he did. And I know that this is a sad song, but I’m sure that so many people can relate to this song. My daddy and mama got married and combined the two families. He had a wife and three children. They followed the funeral procession to the church. His daddy didn’t lose faith, he just died. When you get that close to dying, you’re ready to go. You don’t lose faith you just pray that God will go ahead and take you. I know this, because I watched my daddy till the day he took his last breath. I was sitting right next to him. I’m so blessed to have been able to care for my parents in there last days on this earth. They took care of me and it was my turn to take care of them. God bless you all for reacting to it! Here’s the link to the interview, so y’all can hear for yourself. ruclips.net/video/hoHleHqn1iI/видео.html LadyGator1983
Beautiful song. HIs father's faith was strong to the end. He didn't lose faith, he went home to the Lord. No need to pray when you are walking with the Lord on those golden streets.
The last verse is describing his funeral, that's why Daddy didn't make a sound during his favorite hymn. He followed him to church, obviously following the Hearst carrying the casket.
I had a dog for fifteen years and he died.I was handling it pretty good. Then one day a few days later I was going through different Stapleton songs and I saw one called Maggie’s song,I thought maybe it’s about a girl he once knew. Wrong,it was about his dog that died. It broke me down. I cried like a baby.
He never lost faith he passed on not died n church they had his funeral at church sang his favorite song & then buried him that afternoon. He don't pray anymore cause he's made 2 heaven now he's with the Lord
I was with my daddy when he passed away from complications after stomach cancer surgery. For ten of the longest days of my life, I sat with him, sang his favorite hymns to him, read the Bible to him, and watched him praying to die because he was in so much pain. During the last two days, he was unconscious, but I saw him reaching his hands up and seeing things that I couldn't see. He talked of his friends and his parents who had predeceased him. I said, "Daddy, where are you going," and momentarily he looked at me with disappointment in his eyes. It struck me that he was ready, and I told him, "Daddy, it's all right to let go. 'Come to me, ye who are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.'" I believe angels were with him calling him home, and he was ready to go. He believed, as do I, that when we are unable to pray, Jesus is our intercessor and prays for us. I know I will see my mama and daddy again some sweet day. This might sound weird, but witnessing his passing was the easiest thing I'd seen and I was actually relieved when God took him home. As I was in the process of writing his eulogy, I said, "Daddy, I don't know if I can do this," and immediately I smelled him and felt his presence as if he were alive, sitting right there beside me, and I heard him say, "Yes, you can, little girl." He was right. I stood in that pulpit and didn't shed a tear as God was with me and gave me the words to say.
😪 I also took care of my dad till his last breath, & I felt very thankful to b able to do that bcuz we had great parents that always took care of us kids , it was his turn to let us return the favor . My daddy worked hard all our life . He wasn't a lazy man & he never wanted my mom to work, he wanted her to enjoy life & let him support the family . Although she had about 3 or 4 jobs since we were born. They didn't last long though lol but we lost her April 13th n 83 she was 42 yrs old 😪 But my dad got sick around June 2021 & passed Sept. 13th 😪 which was weird both parents died on the 13th but different months , he would have been 80 yrs on Oct. 8th . But I told my dad , daddy it's okay to let go . Bcuz I think he was fighting the inevitable to stay around for us grown kids & I didn't want him to feel guilty . We all let him know that we loved him dearly & what a Great father he was to all 3 of us & we was thankful that he was our father . 😭 I know he's with God now & our mama , our oldest brother & our young niece 😭we lost her Feb. 2021 ! So my dad & her passed about 7 months apart . We're all still grieving but we know that God will see us through ❤️ he doesn't let his children hurt forever 🙏
Oh my mistake I need to listen to it again that's my first time hearing this one but he awesome period hands down one of the best artist out there right now and I mean artist ,architect ,writer ,singer ,guitar playing mad man ! I love all his work
Ive never heard this song before , and it really hit me ,, I lost my husband in September , to Covid ,, and I know hes with the Lord now, thank you for the reaction 💔
Honey I am so sorry you lost your husband to Covid. Wish I could say I gets easier. Be kind to yourself is my only advice. Give yourself all the time you need to grieve. 💞💞💞
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my husband of 20 years unexpectedly in 2019. It is a painful sisterhood we share. But they are with the Lord now, and that is our comfort. God Bless You.
I got that he stopped praying because he died, not that he lost his faith. And when they were in church, it wasn't that his dad died in church but that they were there for his dad's funeral. Either way, it was a beautiful song.
I love this song because it reminds me of my sister. She was such a woman of God. She was diagnosed with cancer and at the end was in the hospital with 48 hours to live. The hospital chaplain was in and out of the room praying with us. The last time he came in the room he prayed again and as he said Amen my sister drew her last breath. Although I miss her dearly, what a beautiful way to go…..on a amen.
I had to pull up and the lyrics, what a great song. He never turned his back on God. He only doesn't pray anymore because he's with the Lord. *Beautiful* song.
Never heard this song but once again this is nice. Such a good country singer crazy part he wrote this in 10 minutes that's how good he is 😉😘🥰. Okay Chris
It's really a sad but also a beautiful time for the Dad and the son or daughter because, he always prayed to God and most likely gave his all for his family. I met my Dad in 1986 not long before I turned 20 and even though there was some tough times between us, I prayed that he would or could find it in his heart to forgive and accept me as his son even though I wasn't the one in the wrong in the picture. I loved him and I still do love him regardless of what had or has been before. I love and miss you Daddy
He never lost his faith🙏 he passed away. He with Jesus now. He's in heaven. He never lost his faith. He wasn't singing because the song was being played at his funeral. So beautiful..
You guys listen again. Daddy still had his faith. He stopped praying when he passed away. The song said we followed daddy to church. Daddy was in the hearse when they followed him to the church, the pastor spoke at his funeral and then they went to put his body in the ground . Now Daddy is walking with the Lord instead of talking to the Lord. It was so beautiful, For some reason I dont want you to think daddy lost his faith. I should of read the comments. someone probably explained it already

Morgane's mournful sound adds to the pain in his voice and words. Your reaction was exactly what mine was. This was a Beautiful song written by a beautiful man and sung with his heart
"There was a time we didn't get along, cause I thought I was right and he was wrong. But when I laid down at night I'd here him get down on his knees, and say a littler prayer for me."- that's hit me hard, that's unconditional love
I used to be able to sing this song without crying. Ever since my Pap passed away a little over a year ago and I played this song as we followed that beautiful Cadillac carrying him to the cemetery, I tear up and can’t get everything out. This man has a real talent and keeps it real everytime. My pap loved bluegrass and when he moved in with me about 3 years before he passed, because his Alzheimer’s got pretty bad, I introduced him to my new school bluegrass. The first song he heard was from Chris Stapleton when he had his band called The Steeldrivers. The song was “Where Rainbows never die” and he actually teared up when I was singing to him. Maybe give that a play when you have some time. It’s a good one! I hope you keep listening to Chris and keep promoting his love for music. Thank you for what you do!
One of my favorite Chris Stapleton songs (doesn't get enough play) I was gonna point out what most already pointed out..he didn't pray anymore because he is dead.
He stopped praying because he died, not because he lost his faith. Chris wrote this song right after his father's death, too help with his healing process. 😥😇🙏🙏🙏💞
He stopped praying because he died he had faith the whole time what a wonderful song this song is very meaningful to me my dad has cancer and heart problems and we've been praying and he's a believer in the lord
💕 H A P P Y N E W Y E A R !!! 2 0 2 2 💕⭐️ This song sounds personal to Chris Stapleton. To be able to write a song like this in 10 minutes? ⭐️ It hits right in the heart!!! ⭐️ 💕 With all my love, always ~ Laura💕 ❤️ 🥰❤️ S and M HIT SQUAD IS THE BEST!!! ❤️🥰❤️

Shawn and Mel, Yall need to react to Chris Stapleton's Fire Away - Its is an amazing song - I wont give too much away but it has to do with mental health issues. Love you guys, keep bringing the great reactions and Mel you are so beautiful and a beautiful soul
This is my favorite. Try these. 1. Either Way 2. Death Row 3. Sometimes I Cry 4. What are you Listening to. 5. He and Timberlake doing the CMA awards. It's 12+ minutes long. Do the whole video. You won't be disappointed.
This is so sad. I lost my dad in August. He was my rock for almost 70 years. I stayed with him till he passed. My heart aches but I know when I die I’ll see him & my mom. Glad you reacted to this. Thank you
What Steven said, daddy stopped praying because he died and went to walk with Jesus. He kept his faith until his death and after. It was a tear jerker because you thought he lost his faith but it was sad because daddy died.
He didn't lose his faith, he passed away...that's why daddy doesn't pray anymore. He is finally walking with the Lord.
He never lost his faith in The Lord, he stopped Praying because he died. They were at Church for his funeral 💔😭🙏
Exactly...
Absolutely correct.
They were following him to church because They were behind his hearse !
Just like "He stopped Loving Her Today " :)
@@Newfie-zc7ug exactly! Also another song they need to react to.
Episode 10 of the season 2 of the tv série Yellowstone brought me here.
And what a song!!!!
Touch the soul directly
In spite of all of life’s problems, his father always prayed….all the way to the day he died!! He didn’t lose his faith, he only stopped praying because he died.
He isnt praying anymore because he is a man of God, he didnt lose his faith and is now with the Lord. What a wonderful message he knows hes with God

Agree. He followed his father to church because Dad was in a hearse. Great lyrics.
AMEN! Daddy never lost his faith!
The whole song was about Daddy dying. He didn't pray anymore because he passed. He didn't loose his faith.
That’s what I thought-

The reason why his daddy doesn't pray is because he died and he followed the hearse to the church !!!!

Reminds me of "Daddy, Please Don't Get Drunk this Christmas." Yes, that is a real Country song...
First time I heard this song was on The Series " Yellow Stone " I cried hearing this ♥️

He never lost faith...he prayed always right up til death

Chris is like a modern Dylan. It's so awesome 😎
What Steven said, daddy stopped praying because he died and went to walk with Jesus. He kept his faith until his death and after. It was a tear jerker because you thought he lost his faith but it was sad because daddy died.
