As far as I'm aware they're still open underneath, so it would stop something coming in from the front but this was right down on the very bottom corner, so it could still have hooked up underneath. Either way. I don't really like the look of the belly pans avaliable and would rather something that looked more like a plate just covering the front of the sump.
What did you expect? This is a physical damage, obviously caused by you hitting something, so not sure how did you expect that a dealer fix your damage for free which literally you caused? From a video I see that the impact was done from outside, not from the inside...
