I have both.The ICD 470 have a little bit clearer sound .The recorder works like a charm. The sound quality is very clear! I can't say enough nice things about this small recorder. It is easy to use. It gives very clear crisp recordings and picks up sounds in its neighbourhood easily. More than happy with the quality.
Jun 2020, i just got PX-470, what attracts me, in fact, is speakerphone on front, microphone position on the side so i can keep it in pocket and not worry mic be covered, and the most important batteries and what that mean thy are replaceable and cheep but all the problems with digital devices an phones come from rechargeable batteries that eventually burn the hardware.
Definitely PX-470, speaker on the front like radio, mix on the side line for access when keeping in pocket and batteries that can be trashed saving internal hardware of constant circuit.

I'd say very minimal, as you can tell from the video. And yes, I agree with you, if you use the recorder once or twice a year, get the px470. The ux560 is built for everyday use, I don't know how well the internal battery would hold up being charge once a year. The noise reduction on both models is very good, and even better if you use the NCF filter.
Frankly, I would go for the 560 were it not for the lithium ion battery. I prefer the removable AAA batteries of the 470 for it's practicality; I have a lot of rechargeable high capacity NiMh, swapping them out is a matter of seconds rather than the 3 minutes for a quick charge. And all lithium ion batteries are only good for a few hundred charges, after which the built in battery, and by extension the entire unit, becomes disposable. The fact that they both record mp3's and PCM onto a micro-SD is great, since it solves the issue I have with the Panasonic voice recorder I have, where you need proprietary software to download the audio files from the device, and if you no longer have the software disk, you're SOL, so this is a move in the right direction. Either way, I'll probably be picking up the 470 in the near future.
Great point. And that was what I thought when I was choosing between the 2 recorders. But, and this is a big one, the ux560 has liberated me from having to think about batteries. I pick up the recorder and start recording. That convenience means that my PX470 is rarely, if ever, used. With the PX470, I have to look for batteries.... I thought the in-built battery is going to be an issue. But it's not.

Can someone help? I purchased this recorder and tried two different lavs. The 3.5mm TS jack worked. However, my preferred lav is a 3.5mm TRRS. It doesn't work. It was suggested to not push it in all of the way. That failed to work. I have searched for an adapter and/or cable on Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and just Googled it. Still, no luck. The lav that does work came with a wireless set, so using it with this recorder limits me. Will a TRS mike work? Suggestions?
Weloty my mobile has the radio and 3.5 to 3.5mm output cable. Will that not work? What spec is needed for this? As in there are many Trs cables so confused. It says it is 6.35mm
The ux560 (and most other recorders) have a TRS jack. Phones have a TRRS jack, they need the extra ring for the microphone. A male to male TRS cable will probably work to record radio from your phone to this recorder. I cannot guarantee that it will work because your phone manufacturer may have used a different non standard scheme (especially on older iPhones). If TRS cable does not work, then you'll need to get a TRRS cable and an adapter to convert the TRRS cable to TRS. Because the ux560 will not work with a TRRS plug, you need to convert it to TRS. Very likely, especially on online stores. On Amazon, I've never seen new PX470's run out of stock. And I guess Sony will keep making these for a few more years before they replace them with new models.
The internal circuits on these 2 models are very similar. Hard to say which one is better, I'll get a resistor and test these and see if there's a difference in sound quality.
I will use my recorder to motorcycle camping Vlogging. I will use an in helmet mic with it. The longer battery life and ability to change the battery when I am camping is a big plus for me. 4gb internal storage is more than enough for my needs. At home, I can use rechargable batteries.
If you had say 100 files recorded on these how can you go back and find the one you want without using a computer?? Files are only dated and number? You would need to have a journal with name of podcast, date etc right? Thanks
All you need to know is the date and time of the recording as all the recording are saved using the YYMMDD-HHMM format by default. Then you can search for the file by Rec Date.

The ux560 and the ux570 come with internal batteries that are not easily replaceable (require soldering), for the ux470 just turn it over, flip open the battery cover and replace the AAA batteries.

I have not opened up my ux570, so I don't know if they've changed the internal battery design.
No issues with the battery. The only issue I've had with the ux560 is the slide out USB. I bumped into the recorder when it was directly, without a cable, attached to my PC. Semi-broke it, but it still works.

To access the language menu on both of these recorders, in the main menu, go to Settings>Common Settings>Language. The region you bought your recorder will determine the language options you'll get.

Yes Johnny, the ux470 has no backlight. I'm not sure I agree with your second statement - that you can't use it in dimly lit rooms. It does come with an operation LED, so even in a dark room, you can easily tell if it's recording. And also comes with operational beep sounds. If you set up the ux470 beforehand, in a well lit room, then all you have to do is power it on and press the record button in a dark room! My point is, if you know your way around the ux470, you can use it in dimly lit rooms.

The px 470 could record very well, it is a very good gadget. I use it to record my clases teoricas, ateneos.. all i could record and it is better than a phone... there´s no comparision.

True, the slide out USB is poorly designed, on the ux560 and PX470. When I got the ux560, I was scared that the internal battery would die and I'd be left with a very light paperweight. But 3 years later, it's going strong and I've not had issues with the batteries. Though I've come close (twice) to almost ripping off the pop out USB...I'd be hard pressed to say which one is better (as an all purpose audio recorder).
@@_weloty Yeah, you have to be careful not to bump these recorders when they are plugged into USB port. Using a short male-female cable will prevent those problems.

I don't own the TX650, I've heard good things about it though...
tx650 doesn't have mic input nor headphone output option. but its sleek to hide and clip is provided to attach to your shirt or suit to record.

If you have a separate CD player with a headphone out and the right cable to connect the DC player to the recorder, yes you can.
