I traded my Murray's that were running rich and had the throttle hanging problem for a set of CR29's as well. I had to tune them some, but they are imo far better than the dual Mikuni setup. Feels snappier as well with plenty of midrange and better top end.
I run the CR33 carbs, if you want a bit more low end pull, go to a company called thunder products and get a product called a torque wing. Works very well and helps to keep air speed up at low throttle openings. The other thing they sell, but can be harder to install on the Keihins is a product called an intelajet, which injects preatomized fuel into the carb, makes these things pickup from around mid throttle on up and makes these bikes incredibly tuneable. The tuning on these carbs is tough and with Sudco now gone parts are hard to find, I ended up having to buy a ton of jets and slides to get everything sorted right. Here is the thing, I had these running well, and I thought all was well, but i heard an airy lean off idle sound and went to richer needles until I hit the richest needle (yy5). The needles for these carbs are all the same except the off idle diameter. I then went to a richer slide, and changed the idle jet to match the new slide. HOLY SMOKES these carbs are so good. I run thrunder product torque wings on each side and I am in the process of installing the Intelajets.
I'd also like to see the Keihins dynoed with velocity stacks. I had a CB550 that I got as a cafe that never really tuned up correctly on the stock carbs with pods. Some ebay stacks and time on the lathe yielded some 120mm long velocity stacks I could fit pods to. It fixed all the fueling issues and I'm convinced it added 10% more power, the difference was pretty shocking.
@@zsgarage2021 right out of the box, the Cr29s were fouling plugs after just a few minutes, no power at all rev ranges. Dynoman says the stock ignition might not be burning the fuel efficient enough, and my exhaust could be too restrictive. I’ve pulled the baffle out but still no dice.
@@zsgarage2021 Whoa! at first. But, if one rides the bike a lot - trouble free - worth it. I have a set of Keihin 627b on my '78 CB550. I rebuilt them and the worked great a few years. Now, one or more are leaking gas when I stop - stuck float or float needle I guess. The ole "tapping" with a screw driver handle trick isn't working. I probably need to take them off and do some cleaning/inspection. I was thinking of trying to drain and blow air up the overflow. Or I've read you can rev the bike and the drop the throttle and choke and it can clear something out. LOL. Rebuild a bike. No problem. GO BACK and fix things later - UGH. Just me?
@@Fezzler61 I totally get it. Unfortunate, these bikes are just that way. There’s no way of not having to clean or make adjustments. Unless you have fuel injection?
My boys rippin around his dope bike with Travis Scott fragments 😂 love it!
HAHAHAHA, got to rep!
Nice to see a 4 carb setup like that. I ran the CR carbs on my racebike. Very impressive.
They’re great carbs and I’ve been really liking them a ton! I’m looking forward to taking them out and getting a longer ride in!
Murray is swinging the air right now.
Hahahaha, he can swing away!🫡

It is a CR29’s are in a different world then Murray’s carbs. Definitely need some tuning but overall, really awesome carbs!
Just discovered your channel! Such high quality vids and info to use for my cb750. Keep up the good work!!!
Really appreciate it! I love videography and I love building motorcycles! So, it’s been a ton of fun!

Definitely good to know. I went and looked up the torque wing. May need to dive deeper and watch some videos about them! Thanks for sharing!!
I would love to see a dyno comparison of the twin mikuni setup and the quad Keihin setup.
The quad carbs just look so much better IMO.

One day I might be able to do that!
I love that! I wouldn't be surprised if it added a 10% increase in power!
Again Nice Video. It looks that your backtire nedds a little air
Yeah, it definitely does! Good catch for sure though!
Immediately clicked on the video
Same! Haha
You guys are awesome!
@@Thelongestyoutubehandleever Appreciate it!!!!!!
Can you add a link please... i have a 82 cb650 and was gonna go with the Murray carbs but after your video on the Murray i might go with these instead
www.dynoman.net/carb/keiCR.html
There you go man! Good luck!!!!
did you sync these bad boys yet? Cause I didn't see you do that
Not yet. I wanted to get a video out asap. So, got to sync them off camera or maybe do a short on syncing!
this bike is getting EXPENSIVE $$$
Hahaha, yes it is!
What jetting did you end up going with after the some riding around? I have a similar build and can’t get the idle just right
I went with what came in the bike. Did you sync them?
Im new to the bike game .....will this carb fit cb650 ?
Not sure but I think they should be the same size. You can always call some companies that offer the carbs and ask them too.
Do you have the stock ignition? I’ve had mine for 2 years never got a chance to get the bike rideable
I don’t. I bought the wiring from NWT cycletronics! Game changer for rewiring!

Nice 😊 how much for a set of carbs
Let’s not talk about that out loud! 😮😅😊

Where can I purchase a set of CR carbs? Can you provide me with the website
This is the website that I used.

@@zsgarage2021 big thanks!!
Love your videos and builds by the way 👌🏻 keep up with the great work
much better than murray's stupid 4into2 thing.
Hahaha, definitely nice to be back to the 4 club!
Sheeesh $1200 i wish i saw this before getting my murrays, i cant get my cb750k 1981 to run rigth on them, all the power dies at 40% throttle
It is a hefty price tag. Call Murray and see if he can maybe walk you through adjusting the fuel air mixture!
Throw some vaccum gauges on them shits and sync em
Hahaha, I know I know. I should be able to get some sync time in on Thursday.
