I think 700$ for them is crazy
It's not overly expensive compared to the rest of the market though. So, in that way they are reasonable.
Awesome project!!
Thank you so much. I'm happy with them.
Glad to see the progress but can the non winners get the STL file to build our own sets? 😅
Shoot me an email. Zsgarage2021@gmail.com
Yup - up your wall count. Most slicers default to 2 walls - if I have something quasi structural, I'll use 6 walls (along with 50-ish% infill). I'm in the process of designing and printing some farkle mounts for my new Himalayan 450. Gotta love the tech - damn near instant gratification. And, as has been mentioned, print so that your layer lines are parallel to the stress.
I have learned a lot since this video and appreciate the insight! It's truly amazing to be able to print something right out of my house and put it on my bike. Love it!
These are frickin awesome! I had never heard of carbon forging until you talked about it in a previous video, but these are sick!!🔥
Thanks so much! It's so much fun and highly suggest it!
Neat! Always wanted to make my own CF parts and this is inspiring!
So glad that it's inspiring. It's a lot of fun and really amazing that you can just make parts at home yourself!
These are so sick!
Thanks! They turned out great!
Very interesting video, thank you. One thing. At 15:35 you mention sanding to get rid of things like "oil". Your hands have natural oil on them so wearing gloves when sanding and not touching the product would be better. Or, use wax and grease remover before coating. Just FYI.
Thanks for the heads up! Always looking to improve! I think I degreased before coating but always a good reminder!
These would be awesome on my 1977 CB750F Cafe build!
Hey man, wanted to congratulate you! You are the WINNER!!!! Shoot me an email. Zsgarage2021@gmail.com
Super cool video thank you for testing uncommon techniques that help inspire me and others on their builds!
Awesome! Love to inspire! It's a lot of work to make these videos but it's also a lot of fun. Ultimately, that's why I do these videos.
Wow, long time no see.. hope the beauty red completly soon
Hopefully it will be. I'm getting the Porsche engine back soon so I'll be spending some time on that as well. So, we will see.
Just ordered this kit with the dual voltage gun and the oven $189.00
Dude, it's so legit. You're going to love it.
@ tried it for the first time last night, omg can we all say it at the same time? F*** SPRAY PAINT 🤣 dude 1,000% better, All I want now is a larger oven!
That was a great video. I don’t think they would fit a cl100 but none the less I throughly enjoyed watching you make them
Appreciate the support. It's fun and challenging. I'm having a ton of fun challenging myself and making new parts.
Sick ❤
Thanks Mark. My #1 Fan!
Dude you are "modifying" your bike, its the essence of a cafe racer... Not quite sure you've been in the "cafe racer" long enough to have figured this out by now. The product is not OEM, expect some tuning and comprehension from your end. Not trying to dis you but when someone pays 700$ for carb cleaning.. Maybe next time clean them yourself and learn along the way. You will see that once reassemble, they will just need just as much tuning to make them run nicely.
Totally get where you are coming from and everyone is totally entitled to there opinion. But, if I’m buying a set of carbs and they’re getting stuck open…. Then that’s dangerous. Secondly, $700 wasn’t just for carb cleaning. It was for powder coating, disassembly, and tuning on the motorcycle. I don’t do RUclips full time. I have a family, I work and have a life. That’s why I paid someone to do what I did. Anyways, again totally get what you’re saying.
@zsgarage2021 it may sound negative the way i wrote this but its really about if you do something not OEM on your bike, youll have to figure things out on your own unless your ready to pay someone and be unsatisfied... Tho, stuck slide happened to me on a vm36 mikuni, and I guess Murray use those exact same carbs... It was a mix of the cable routing angle, they way the end was soldered, the return spring the way it sits and even the cable on the trottle... I took my time and re-did things with more attention and problem never came back... Thanks for the kind reply and I also respect your opinion. If they advertise this as a absolute direct not tuning replacement then I feel you but I wouldnt expect any product that advertise this even more for carburetors... And on a more positive note, your build is looking good !
I get what you’re saying. I just think expectations is it doesn’t get stuck. I’ve done quite a few carbs and builds and haven’t had this issue. But, at the same time, still a small quantity to make a final opinion. I have been enjoying the Keihin carbs though. Also, appreciate the love. We’re all here to learn. And thank you, been loving this build. I’m also having a ton of fun creating parts for my other build. It’s been challenging but really really satisfying.
I want them
So sorry, but you were not the winner. Shoot me an email and I can at least email you the STL file so you can take a crack at it! Zsgarage2021@gmail.com
Solid stuff! Curious if you’d do other parts like headlight buckets or brackets. Would be a good way to tie in the look with other small parts.
I'm actually going to be working on headlight brackets next and then some small fairings. Of course, I'll be doing carbon forging for those parts.
Where did you buy these? I can't find them anywhere but ebay.
Check it out: www.dynoman.net/carb/keiCR.html
@@zsgarage2021 Thx man. Same deal: "not available at this time" :(
May I know the exact details about that carb
Check it out: www.dynoman.net/carb/keiCR.html
Them clampy boiz
Hahaha, the amount of clamps is funny. But definitely necessary for any forging. Finishing up the other side rear set now. Then bushings for the holes and then it’s ready! Hoping to drop the video this weekend!
the doohickey
Awesome work🤙🏻 I just picked up a 1980 cb750c and I’m making it into a dirt bike style, what triple tree fork set up would give me the most travel?
Thanks! I’m about to do the triple trees on this 1975 that I’ve been working on. For triple trees, I’d look into cognito moto and ask them. They have a ton of options on there website
Thanks for this, always wondered how a forged carbon triple would work. I had modeled a triple for a Kayo MR150 and intended to do the same but never would have had the nu-nus for actually using....and glad I didn't.
Yeah, I think that there can be some design changes to reinforce the triple tree to give it more strength. I'll revisit it at some point. I'm actually currently working on carbon forged rearsets at the moment. Video will be out in the next week or so.
What is the length you can fit in the oven?
Comfortably, 14” x 12” x 10” (W x D x H)
Really engaging watching the process from design, to 3D printing, to finishing. Loving the content
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the comment!
Cool video I just noticed you’re in CA, where? I’m in CA too also building an 1980 CB750
I’m located in the Bay Area. What about you?
Thanks for the heads up I've been wanting to make custom fairins for my ducati ..this would be an awesome project
That’s awesome! I’ve been working on some fairings. Probably another month or two out for that though.
this look super cool
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Nice video! Great to see you driving Fusion 360. I’ve never used form mode before, will check it out. I’m currently using a similar technique you for some shock mounts. 3D printed in polycarbonate, then layered with 5 layers of carbon/kevlar for strength
Appreciate that! It’s been fun pushing myself to learn more and get more experience. Working on rearsets now.
What filament did you use?
Shoot, I didn't realize that I didn't even say. I used PETG.
@ sweet! Yeah I figured it was a higher temp filament as the resin can get hot. Nicely done man, makes me need to practice more of the forming on F360!
It took a ton of practice with fusion 360. Many many hours of trial and error. But, totally worth it.
I did parts like that with PLA and I had a sort of cross linking issue, after few weeks the part start to become a little opaque white. No issue like that with PETG?
@ haven’t had that issue. I’ve done a lot of parts with PETG and it’s been solid.
Nice work! I just stumbled across your channel and will definitely be following the rest of this build. I guess the algorithm did it's job considering I'm a CAD, 3D printing, and moto enthusiast lol. Just the right pace/mix of entertainment and education too!
Thanks man! I really appreciate the comment! I'm no expert but I try to push my boundaries. Working on rearsets at the moment and going to carbon forging them. Looking forward to posting that.
Good job... happy new year!... really need to learn 3d printing and 3d program....😢🤯😢😮💨
Happy new year to you too! Learned everything from RUclips! Just takes time to sit down and go for it.
Hi Z Can you tell me where you got your CR 29s i need some CR26s for my CB550F 2 1978 but the only place i can find them is Powerbarn who just keep ignoring me would be grateful if you could let me know your supplier thanks John Walsh Maidstone Kent UK
Hey John, Hope this helps! www.dynoman.net/carb/keiCR.html
PLA is definitely the wrong material choice. You should use PETG. PETG is also readily available, and cheap, and naturally UV resistant, better impact resistance, and won't deform in the heat of a hot summer day (unlike the PLA) and is as easy to print as PLA. Just one more correction, you mentioned carbon fiber... There really isn't such a thing as carbon fiber filament .. it's a base filament such as PLA, ABS, PETG, PA, etc reinforced with carbon fiber... So PLA-CF will have very different characteristics from PA612-CF (which I love for printing functional parts for my bike) since the addition of carbon fiber to copolymer PA612 nylon makes for a crazy strong print (rivals aluminum) with incredible heat resistance.
I've learned so much over the last couple of months. I've switched to almost printing exclusively with PETG and yes, CF is just an additive.
@zsgarage2021 same here, almost exclusively print in PETG...although I really love Polymaker PA612-CF for functional parts on the bike. It's crazy strong (I printed flag mounts for my bike, they handle a flag at highway speeds) great heat resistance, and it prints as easy as PLA.
I like your cafe 750. Do you build bike for customers?
Hey, At the moment I am not but willing to work with someone in the future. Shoot me an email. My email is in my profile. Thank you
Question - what program do use for your designs?
Fusion 360. I love it.
Thanks! Was just about to check that out
What forks did you use?
2012 Yamaha R6 forks. Bought them off a donor bike.
Update?? This video kinda seems pointless now
Hey, If you go to the playlist section, then choose the 1980 Honda CB750 Playlist. Pt2 is there....
I'm so jealous. Everything has to be checked and approved here. If you get checked, your bike will be immediately taken out of service and confiscated. Nice Video Buddy learning by doing 👍
No way! Where are you from?
@zsgarage2021 Germany
@@kaijudt8358 I didn't realize how strict Germany was.
I would hit the whole thing with a uv resistant clear. It’ll help smooth any scratches from the sanding and make the lights come through better.
Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have a can of Max 2k clear coat that I plan on hitting with it.
Also, don't forget to comment on rim color and fairing! This is the peoples build where the people decide how I build the bike.
Really cool man, new here but will be following along now, id like to say dont shy away from showing more of the build and problem solving process. 👍😁
Hey, thank you for the suggestion. I've been playing around with how long my videos are. I'm planning on doing some longer form videos! Also, don't forget to comment what color for the rim and what fairing style! The peoples build is for you to decide on how I build this bike!
I printed one years ago for a CL360 and it’s still on there. I used carbon fiber filled nylon. Added some trellis design on the sides for extra wall strength and did 100% infill. Turned out great! 😊
That's awesome! I've been playing around with different filaments lately. I have tried carbon fiber nylon just yet. I'll have to give that a go.
The taillight looks so sick dude!
Thanks man! Stoked on continually making things. Let me know what color rim you want to see and if you want to see fairings on the bike!!!
@@zsgarage2021 I would vote for a silver rim, and i would love to see a fairing on the bike!
Absolutely killed that tail light! I have a couple questions: -Is it possible to use clear lenses with red LED to increase the brightness? -Can you make a rendition with the last 2 bars on each side orange so it becomes the turn signals? -Do you have enough clearance for max compression so the tire doesn’t destroy the tail light? As car as the fairing/ wheel color I personally would love to see a modified full fairing kinda from the CR750, and color of the wheels to be bronze
Thank you so much! - I tried clear but it's not any brighter. I think the epoxy printing is the way to go. My buddy is still printing the pieces for me to try it. - Yes, the orange on the right and left is very much possible to make it a blinker. - As for compression, it does have the potential to hit the tire. But, it only sticks out about 1" underneath the hoop. I think it'll be ok. I love the bronze idea and the full fairings!
Have you thought about adding kevlar?
I have. I think my next revision may do kevlar tow or kevlar strands.
@zsgarage2021 I'd love to see how that turns out I have used the same forging kit as you used, I think I may also need to try with a different hardwner
@@AndyVdrifts I’m planning on doing a set of rear sets for the bike. I’m thinking longer strands of carbon fiber tow. Maybe even making a foot peg too out of carbon forging.
@zsgarage2021 nice I'm thinking of making some riser spacers for my aprilia that way, thats how I found you video and channel, at the moment I just have ally tube which works, I cant help thinking if I forge the carbon around the alloy tube it would be way stonger, look 100 times better and remove the little flex I currently have (its not huge to be honest I think I just want to play with carbon fibre
@@AndyVdrifts You should just go for it. I'd say run some tests on it and see how much force it would take to break before installing on your bike though.
thank you boss, Im going to make my own mc tray
No problem! Good luck with making your own tray! It's really cool what 3D printing has brought to the motorcycle industry!
Can’t wait to see how that final tray works out & your creative taillight design. You’re def helping to prove 3D printings place in bike builds!
Thanks so much! It is for sure here to stay! Also, excited to show off the tail light soon.
Can you add a link please... i have a 82 cb650 and was gonna go with the Murray carbs but after your video on the Murray i might go with these instead
www.dynoman.net/carb/keiCR.html There you go man! Good luck!!!!
Printed lots of items for my cafe racer, but once I know they work, I get them made from other materials. SendCutSend is amazing, fast and affordable!!!!
At 11:47 dude i got watery eyes, that feeling of bringing it all together, im stoked to start my build.
It definitely is a good feeling! Feels like such a victory! Also, stoked for you to start your build! What bike are you planning on working on?
