    I'm learning to change states pretty rapidly, having watched many of your videos. Thanks, Tanner! I'd done self -hypnosis, autogenics, and Chi Gong for years, but didn't realize how hypervigilant I was normally due to a premature and violent birth (car accident) and childhood bullying. It's fascinating learning to watch the states change, from blood pressure and heart rate to mood changes. I love your videos, and am passing them on to many people on a regular basis, as people enduring benzo withdrawal have symptoms that can be improved dramatically or made much worse depending on how we react to them. When we panic, it makes them worse. The calmer we can be, the more rapidly we heal. Whether it's fibromyalgia or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, benzo withdrawal or car accident pain, there are many issues that cause symptoms like pain and fatigue that are impacted by how we react to the symptoms. Learning radical acceptance, curiosity, self-compassion, and self-love can make a huge difference. Knowledge IS power and these videos empower people. It's helped me already, so bless you and keep informing people!

    It was reassuring to have it confirmed that the fatigue and stomach issues I experience are part of being in sympathetic state so much of the time. The concept of learning to move between states is giving me some hope. Thank you!

    Thank you the video Tanner! I'm looking forward to watch your next video on how to swich from state to state. i realized that most of the time I'm in dorsal state even when I'm safe in a peaceful quiet environment. Is it possible to ever reach ventral state if dorsal is chronic? I live with R arthritis chronic pain.

      I'm so happy it was helpful. It is my belief everyone has the potential to shift to a ventral vagal state. Now this can be difficult at first, and of course we are not always going to be in this state. Also learning how to be in a ventral vagal state more often is different person to person.

    Hi Tanner. Your channel is really excellent and so helpful, but I thought I’d chip in with a bit of of extra polyvagalness.
    It’s not that we want to always be solely in ventral. It’s possible it have blended states.
    So you can have ventral and activation, which is play.
    You could have ventral and dorsal, which is deep stillness
    Also, Freeze is a blended state of activation and dorsal, all tight but no movement.
    Shutdown is dorsal without the activation, so the body has lost tone.
    Justin Sunseri has a good polyvagal postcast which some might find interesting.
    Thank you for your content

      I'm so glad my content is helpful. I love discussing the importance of blended states! I will do a video on this in the future! So important to achieve homeostasis in the nervous system!

    So does ventral vagal always have to be about socialization? Can you be in that state if you’re relaxing on your own in a hot bath or doing a meditation?

    • @painpsychotherapy
      @painpsychotherapy  3 дня назад +1

      Yes, you are correct. Ventral vagal can present many ways: calmness while alone, connecting with others, playfulness, or safety.
