I love the way this film introduces the "Nature vs Nurture" discussion. Hellboy, or Anung Un Rama, was born as a manifestation of evil and the powers of hell and his mission was to destroy Earth and bring the apocalypse. But, who would have thought that just by being raised by an old, scholarly and caring man would have change all his life, the way he behaves and the ends he wants to achieve.
@@soupboy5074It is important because it shows that regardless of religious relation in-universe, Christianity became a core memory of Hellboy and who he is, being a Christian is part of his persona. And that despite what he started as, he can choose what to end as. After all, he could have rejected religion after growing up and becoming considerably more independent, but chose to not do so. And his character is all-around about that, choice. Makes one think that if a demon can choose to be better for the sake of giving back to humanity which nurtures him, what is stopping one or you, an actual human, from being good or even better than the actual bringer of doom? It's also a parallel to Rasputin, born a normal human who ended up becoming a literal borderline immortal monster who birthed doom at the end of his life. It's almost hard to imagine Ron Perlman in his numerous 'tough guy' roles after portraying the legendary inhabitant, 'Vincent' of New York City's subterranean 'Tunnel World' in the TV series, "Beauty and the Beast!"
I just realized, that when Red said "This is gonna hurt" he met the grenade explosives, not the eldritch god eating him. Fireproof, but not explosion-proof.
Just LOvED that movie, still golden ✨ watched it so many times, it never gets old for me
Me too! Love it!
Same Here Hellboy was my favorite film back in the day when it had came out
I feel like the Behemoth's design is clearly inspired by a Cthonian! Looks so cool.
Maybe that and a shoggoth
Hey, someone with ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE of Lovecraftian lore! See you beyond the gate of the silver key, brother from yuggoth!
You mean Cthulhu.
@@akshayraut858No. You might argue that one of the massive elder gods trying to come through the moon-portal might be Cthulhu, but Behemoth is much more like a Cthonian - one of Cthulhu's smaller relatives.
"smaller".....😳🙄😁
I still think this might be the best live-action Hellboy movie. 👍🏼
He is 100 % better than 2019s hellboy
The behemoth/ kraken and hellboy ripping his horns off scenes will always be ingrained in my childhood memories. This movie was my go to movie for the weekends and I had a tendency (all my gal pals hated when I did this lmaooo, they'd rather watch other romance movies also no hate on romance movies just not my tea ☕☕) to ask if they had the hellboy movie bc I loved the comics and movie.
great stuff!
"How big could it be ...
...
Damn!"
That big
When he drains out her life force like that, I got the chills...
he was full of worms
I thought I am the only person to feel like that
Wow
Ron Perlman as Hellboy.. He is best 😇😇😇
You can which this movie if Like subscribe me ? ruclips.net/video/ZhPeEhfQl_g/видео.html
There no other Hellboy like Ron Perlman😈😁😌👏🏻👌🏻
1:00 I get Hellboy’s anger here. Watching another man get all up in your girl’s soul? Right in his face too!
This should be a trilogy. I loved both movies
Hell boy:turning into the destroyer of worlds
Azazel/hellboys dad:finally he’s doin something with his life
The early and mid 2000 movies still hold up great I love that it's practical
Everyone here praising Perlman and Del Toro. I'm just glad to see Karel Roden being single one succesful Czech in hollywood.
Lots of crucifixion parallels here. Hellboy bearing his cross while enduring a spiritual battle. Willing to trade his life for the souls of others. Making the choice to live up to the will of his father. Slamming the door shut on the gates of hell. Even the sudden overcast sky.
That Anung Un Rama form is bad ass and beautiful to look at
The fact that they used the t rex sounds from the lost world jp just made me smile
Finally someone else notices!
how can this cg look better than what we get these days?
People who were passionate about this type of work.
people were used to be normal in those days
That giant creature that came out of that dude's body was disgusting. An i liked the part how when hell boy choose to refuse to unlock the key to release the monsters from the under world to cause corruption was pretty sick and disgustingly hardcore too.
🤣
@@ASlopedRoof i thought it was gross i was like WTF did i just saw?...like ewww!!! It was almost like he was pregnant with a baby slash gigantic squid monster like what the hell!?🤦😭😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀.
I like the part when he is sword to the octapus and then he is grenade
@@DoubleADwarf yeah that was pretty brutal but gross too.
RUclips is getting way too comfortable with the double ads.
Buy yt premium assh0le
hellboy has insane durability
9:57 gonna feel sore in the morning
I forgot how beautiful that dude is. He should've been in more movies
@Corvo@AZ the non magic/power wielding human lol
"I chose." ✝️
Best line in the movie.
DelToro quitely but sincerely, has reached top tier level of fantastic and scifi cinema. Thank you sir!!!!
Look at this masterpiece 🔥 that reboot was a nightmare
Love the way the holy cross did some impact on hellboys hands when he was in God mode and it didn't do anything at the time when he's normal
Ron will always be the only hellboy for me
There should be a Hellboy sitcom with Ron, Selma, and Doug, and maybe it should either continue the way the third movie would've, or have a new story altogether
Bruh, regardless of what happened to this franchise, this goddamn movie makes up for it all. Such a badass flick!!!
Just one question, what exactly is the plan after summoning those oversize seafoods?
Sell it to Chinese. They eat anything

I imagine that if they destroyed the planet, they would grant Rasputin some power to him. Perhaps allow him to do whatever he wanted to with the barren earth.
@@Gabronthe Man that must be so worth it. Yay, I get to rule over a lifeless barren hellscape and say I'm the only human who survived the demonic apocalypse, that I started!
Ragna Rok. Basically a giant reset button where mankind is wiped out, and inhuman creatures breed and rule the wasteland that remains. Hellboy ought to be the king of that land, it was written to be his "destiny".
But, thanks to his human father, he chose otherwise.
we really should have gotten Hellboy 3 instead of that reboot
Allegedly it was suppose to go that way but...we never got it I’m sad..
@@lunaamakura7683 hopefully they learned their lesson from that mistake
I like how basically both of the Hellboy starting movies has the villains plot hinge completely on how fucking open to being controlled Hellboy is when he is in his most powerful state
This Hellboy better then the new one!
Hellboys full demon form is so god damn cool I’d rather see him be a villain just to see what he’s truly capable of
Mi the only one who loves to see Guillermo del toro's disturbing but beautiful character and set Design......❤
Love how he is hellboy and the Lich from adventure time. So badass.
Slade from TEEN TITANS(2000s) too!
@@elvondrago96 spectacular
Whoever thought up & created Hellboy did a great job of balancing a Demonic, yet lovable Character without making him too terrifying.
Slightly corny, though...
Ron Pearlman is correct for Hellboy 💯❤️
When this came out, the Ogdru Jahad were still an approaching and distant threat in the comics. Ten years later, they've actually KILLED one of its heads in active combat.
You clearly need to search for Behemoth. Because its does not appear on this movie.
Besides the creature inside Rasputin is NO god, just a Herald.
It seems like a subspecies of the creatures that bring about the apocalypse. But much smaller as it seems to be a baby.
This looks more eldrich instead of what the actual behemoth or its herald looks like
I am not very familiar with the concept here, could you tell me why the demons in this movie are tentacle like`````
@@allwillbewell916 Basically the creatures are incredibly old beings, powerful ones too. If I had to guess, they’re as old as the demon race, if not older due to them being referred to as "The gods of chaos" which says to me they are older. As for their appearance, I owe it to H.P. Lovecraft, and his use of laudanum to write his books. Most of his Elder gods are tentacled monsters, so make the old gods giant super squids. The Herald is most likely a subspecies, or a juvenile version of the Chaos gods, and as such shares similar characteristics. That’s about the best answer I can give you.
@@decimation9780 Thank you so much, I found the name Ogdru Jahad. Will understand this name help me knowing the concept?
Behemoth?? That's straight up Cthulu!!!
ivan karim actually it’s a Lord Of Chaos called the Ogna Jehad (don’t know if I’m saying that right )
J Double C ogdru jahad you mean?
@@FabledHeroes3351 I thought it was Ogdru Hem (Behemoth), offspring of Ogdru Jahad?
The most charismatic hellboy ever
"how big can it be" -Hellboy
It warms my heart Hellboy has 2 months worth of squid to eat ☺️
When the hookwarm inside ur belly grown too much to handle😂😂
Ron was the best to play the Hellboy role.
I love that it looks like a love craft outer god.
Honestly ? Ron Pearlman...I doubt I'll ever meet you, but this was a masterpiece and I wish I could shake your hand my GOD you delivered and it was beautiful. You ARE hellboy. And it probably sucked to be in all that getup- the contacts specifically-but holy God does it look good on you.
Imagine a witcher 3 style RPG with del toro's hellboy, with quests in the nature of the witcher, with unreal engine 5 hunting monsters and demons would be epic
Witcher 3 was mid
That beam of light traveled faster than light.
9:32 Hellboy: oh this is gonna hurt
I love how the sculpture for the statue that is holding the sword decided to sharpen the stone sword just in case some squid creature show up
Squid games
You never know!
