This never gets old, timeless classics. Rik sadly might not be here anymore in the physical form but his spirit lives on through his comedy, Real legends don't Die
@@julieannu yes I agree with you totally.. I'm not one of these people that is into the celebs.. As I think alot of them ( especially now days) are Twats. If I was walking down the street & seen a celeb on the other side of the road I certainly would not be one of these people that would run over & want an autograph or even talk to them... Theres only really a hand full of people that I like that id approach & Rik Mayall was one of them.. I was sad to hear when he past.. A great actor, a highly witty & intelligent man definitely one of a kind.. Still miss him.
It's abit like the facial expression he pulls when the gas man comes around & says ' well we've had a complaint from someone on this street that says there paying to much for there gas' 😂🤣
Was about 10 when i 1st watched this almost laughed myself to death when richard stabbed eddie with an umbrellar. Those were the good old days when british tv was not afraid to mix violence with humour. So sad Rik Mayall had died quite at a young age you will always be missed.
@@jshaw4757 Blah blah blah "Good old days" blah blah blah "snowflakes today" blah blah blah "look at me and how hard I am for just happening to belong to this era" blah blah blah. Maybe you'd like to shout at a cloud too and complete the old man act?

This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen! Especially the beatings with the frying pan! I love this show! What a great comedy duo Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson are! 😂😹😅😆
The episode was building to something big, you could sense in the way they were getting more and more irritated with each other that it was all going to explode!
this fight is so classic I laughed just as hard now as the first time. the umbrella bit is the best I just love the way Eddie uses that piddly bit of wood as a shield and Richie just bypasses it straight to his groin
Part of me is curious to see a Bottom prequel where Richie and Eddie met, but it would never work without Rik or Ade. Thank goodness these Bottom episodes are timeless!
I always just smile when watching any comedy. When I was watching this scene during the first broadcast, I remember having to walk out of my livingroom to try and control my bladder and I couldn't breathe from laughing so hard. I've never laughed like that since.
Little details make all the difference; Rik carefully keeps hold of the HP sauce when Eddie makes his move so it’s still there come check mate (it’s the Daddy after all) The sounds of the frying pan striking are the chimes of Big Ben
Actually take note: After Eddie calls Checkmate and Richie slugs him one for his efforts. the 'Chess pieces fly from Eddie's arms and onto the floor. As for the Chess board... I swear I saw it actually attached to the point of being glued to the table. That aside... one of, if not THE most hilarious scene in Season 2.

Only a couple of celebrity deaths have affected me quite personally. Rik was one of them

The part that cracks me up is the repeated saucepan banging on Richard Richards head and the different tones each strike. Priceless!

The first time me and my brothers sat down to watch Bottom we were crying laughing at the intro, it was so silly and bloody brilliant acting.

This is one of the few bottom episodes where no fights or slapsticks happen until the end. The calm before the storm
The episode was building to something big, you could sense in the way they were getting more and more irritated with each other that it was all going to explode!
Gutted to hear about Rik's death, he will be greatly missed. R.I.P you legend!
Will have a "Bottom" DVD marathon this weekend in his honour.

when he removes the umbrella from his groin and the point is missing..lol
Eddie: Ya know it's funny, they say that television encourages violence. I'm smashing his face in, and we haven't got one!
That's actually brilliant writing

2:38 one of the best moments ever on tv
The best fight ever recorded in history.
This scene in particular and Mr Jolly Lives Next Door always brighten up the darkest of days.
That finger waggling was incredible.
For those who disliked this video, cop a load of this. 3:42
He was lucky he lived 56 years with all this abuse he copped. RIP to a legendary comedian.
Eddie smashing richie: "You know, it's funny. They say that television encourages

I was given a 24 hour ban on Facebook for quoting that on a post. Zuck must have thought I was enabling others to fight each other.
