I'm watching you mr. *Andrew* 🧐
Arguably ......Goes Forth is up there as the greatest comedy series ever along with the two series of Fawlty Towers, Porridge and Only Fools And Horses.
I enjoyed the third series as well. Duel with cannons. When you soil a Wellington you put your foot in it.
Funny you didn't mention Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister, which probably has the best writing out of all of these, and that too out of the most boring material.
@@andyray89 I'm shocked and appalled.
Father Ted, red dwarf, peep show
O M G THE WRITING IS SO CLEVER, COUPLED WITH THE GENIUS OF THE CAST. ANYTHING ON AT THE MOMENT THAT COMES WITHIN A MILE OF THIS? VERY DOUBTFUL,
'What's going on, darling?". And Darling did not even respond to that... Classic.
He broke his pencil ....
This serie is masterpiece of comedy genius .
Darling is an excellent actor. Really amazing.
Tim McInnerny.
Bumpkin: That's so true. I was lucky to see him on stage (alongside Charlie Drake) in 'The Caretaker' on stage about thirty-something years ago. He was excellent.
This was the best series by far
Comedy acting at it's best. The writing is sharp but the delivery of the lines is what makes it work. It's why saying Darling several times in a scene remains funny
There is only one small problem
Everyone gets slaughtered in the first ten seconds
Brilliant satire
Exactly! And to inspire the men for the final push, let us make a nice cover for their butt wiper newspaper!
sad thing is this happened in real life
Yes, and it appears to be depressing the men a tad...
@@naughtydog201 classic lol
Fry's pronounciations are deliberately accented the way uppercrust Military men spoke. He say's ''problim'' and ''Donsense'' instead of nonesence. There are several other examples. Very well scripted.
Absolutely Brilliant!
Shame they stopped making these jewels.
Field marshal Haig and his wife disliked this
How about Haig's dogs and cats?
And his pet tortoise... Alan.
Servants tennis partners 😀
I imagined it would be Hague
@sheldon pereira or a bunch of drug-trafficking latinos shot at the border.
“What do you want Darling”, simplistic brilliance 😂. Who ever it was on the Blackadder team, that came up with the idea to call the character “Darling”, I salute you. Cracks me up every time I hear it 🤣😂🤣
I believe it was Stephen Fry who came up with the name of Captain Darling.
@@karenseymour10 Good old Stephen, why am I not surprised it was him, love that guy. Thank you Karen 👍
Originally given the rather bland name of "Captain Cartwright," it was Stephen Fry who suggested giving Tim McInnerny's character the surname Darling, taking the name from an old classmate.
A great series!!!❤❤❤
What a bunch of cracking comedians.
Each actor perfectly suited the role he played.
Stephen Fry a genius in comedy with Roman. Captain Darling plays his part perfectly also.
Tim McInnerny, as 'Darling, was the only True trained actor of the bunch, He's often on stage Playing Shakespeare rolls.
Genius writing for a genius cast.
whoever wrote this show's script is a complete savage
Richard Curtis and Ben Elton.
@@michelleresistance Yes, Ben Elton made the greatest imput, when he joined Blackadder, for all episodes after the first.
Elton also penned The Young Ones.
The only sitcom in history where you are 100 percent guaranteed a laugh every time a certain captains name is spoken. Absolute genius writing
Actually after careful thinking I’ve just realised that Rodney being called Dave by trigger generated a laugh too but you know what I mean!
2:09 - "There is, however, one small PROBLIM ..." lol
I love Rowan Atkinson’s little smirk when Melchett mentions the final push, knowing it’s only used to shit on.
I thought it would be right up your alley 🤣🤣🤣
Soft, strong and thoroughly absorbent.
It's right up his alley indeed!
‘Donsense! Let’s hear the list in full!’ I do love a bit of donsense. E-e-e-exactly!
Absolute comedy gold. Modern comedies have nothing of this.
"my favorite magazine: soft, strong, and thoroughly absorbant"
Jasper Proske I knew it would be right up your alley.
I reckon that magazine was good for something. 🚽
Found Blackadder series by accident many years ago (On BBC America). Absolutely hysterical, all three iterations of it. Sarcasm is a dying art.
FOUR iterations. Just saying 😊
@@sualdammacsamildanach8154 The first series was a duffer. They cast Blackadder as the bumbling dimwit and Baldrick as the sharp, canny one and it just doesn't work. They all sat down and agreed that in future series things had to change.
@@thewomble1509 To be fair, and IMO, it was the first series that got me interested (I watched it when it was first aired). It wasn't the best now we have the others to compare it to, but the whole idea was brilliant - and it did have some funny and many very clever moments. In all honesty, I think some of it actually went over peoples' heads and later series pulled that down to make it more appealing. But it was what it was - and if it had been really THAT bad there would have been none of the sequels. Indeed, without it, there would have been none of the others, either.
