    I love this so so much. I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and love watching positive birth stories, but it’s so hard to try and relate and prepare because nobody has put any positive birth stories up during COVID. I am so glad that you had a positive birth experience and baby George is happy and healthy☺️

      @@fairytaleviola I have had 2 children now. My first when Shannon had George was extremely traumatic in a hospital. I had a ‘natural’ birth on paper but it was awful on the hospitals part. My second I had last November at home, a freebirth. It was incredibly magical and extremely healing!

    Loved this video, has put me at ease a bit! I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant, and we've just done our birth plan with our midwife. I'm really hopeful I don't have to be induced though, as I don't really feel like it's right for the dads to not be part of the entire experience - they say that they're key to supporting us through the early labour but then won't let them into the wards and stuff with you are induced! Seems a bit contradictory to me!

  • @Piperbabe22

    I had such a similar experience! I found it "easier" when i got later into labour and the pushing contractions started. Altough i was still making lots of sounds and stuff but yea, insane experience!

    I love that this is so positive! I feel like when you tell people your pregnant people are so quick to tell you how horrendous it is! I’m only 18 weeks and was already dreading the labour but you’ve made me feel at ease. I just wondered were the midwifes forceful or judgy that you weren’t breastfeeding? Just I feel I don’t want to breastfeed as I want my husband to also have that bonding with the baby and don’t want to express but I’m scared they will have a go at me haha. I wasn’t aware you could harvest the good stuff so they still get that so Thankyou for letting us know about that :) xx

    • @HomeWithShan
      @HomeWithShan  3 года назад

      Kerry Nesbitt I’m so glad this makes you feel a bit more relaxed about labour, I definitely think 50% of the battle is the mindset you go in with, if it’s positive then you’re half way there!
      And I have to say that no one was judge at all!! I was fully expecting them to be but everyone was so supportive and gave me loads of advice on bottle feeding which was lovely! I’m sure some midwives might be a bit but I only came across amazing ones throughout my entire pregnancy/birth xxxx

    Oh my God that was so traumatising and brutal. I am very glad it all went well at the end and you actually have a positive memory of it. I am so sorry it all happened, typical induction story, hopefully in future healthcare professionals will start having a more sensible approach to labour. Congratulations on the positive attitude nevertheless 🙏
    To future mums: when doctors scare you that something can happen to your baby and you have to be induced, you can request "gentle cesarean". You can refuse all of these things described in the video and go for a more gentle option. Please instead of mega expansive trendy buggies and clothes invest into an NCT course plus a hypnobirthing materials (can be videos, books since real course is expensive). This is by far one of thr best investments you can make.
    Goodluck to everyone xx

    I was in established labour for the same time as you! 56 minutes! Also an induction as I had gestational diabetes. My little boy was born at 2.33am on 2/3/21. Very similar experience to you tbh, except my waters broke on their own. I shocked the midwives as I was only 1cm at around 12.30am until my waters broke at 1.30am at which point I think I was 4cm. It all happened very quickly! And gas and air is brilliant stuff, I found it didn't really make it any less painful, just made me care less about the pain 😂 xxx

    So, what was his birth weight in the end? Was he in the lower 10%, like theyd predicted? Ive heard thats not always the case, and some people have larger than average babies (in terms of weight) after being told that they should be induced cos baby is measuring too small in the scans... so i guess its not always accurate

    • @HomeWithShan
      @HomeWithShan  3 года назад

I was wondering as George was your first baby and your labour/birth wasn’t as long as expected for first borns, how long were you kept in hospital afterwards? My baby hasnt gained as much as it did from 1 to 2 growth scan, although still a good weight predicted 7lb 5oz as you said any risk is not worth it so agreed to an induction a few after due date as they would prefer i go naturally but not much over. So nice to finally hear your birth story! I’m glad it went so well for you. I hope you don’t mind me asking but is there any particular reason you have chosen not to breast feed? No hate l’m just genuinely curious as I’m due my first baby in January and have been dead set on breast feeding and now starting to realise how hard it can be for some women, so I’m kinda scared haha xx

    • @HomeWithShan

      Thank you so much lovely! On bottle feeding, I just find that for me it works best, both myself and my other half can feed him without any issues and we can easily have grandparents look after him when we want. He has a feed every 4 hrs which is a nice break for us between feeds, plus I don’t have to worry about what I eat! The only down side for me is having to get up at night and make a bottle... but I’m getting up to change his nappy anyway I guess 🙈 so many pros and cons for both but whatever you chose will be right for you and baby! Please don’t ever feel judged for choosing either way ❤️

    How did u take and store the colostrum before giving birth/knowing you will be induced? Did u freeze or refrigerate? How did u get into a syringe? Im almost 30week and got so much to do still.

      Sophie Louise Taylor has done a really insightful video about colostrum harvesting, you should take a look, you basically collect it in a syringe (your midwife should supply you with some around 36/37 weeks if you ask, I ended up ordering some on ebay) and you can collect 2/3 times a day, they should be frozen until baby arrives and then you can put them in the fridge to defrost when you are ready to use them. If you are taking them to hospital with you just let the midwives know first and they will put them in the freezer for you when you arrive (store them in a zip lock bag) hope this helps but as I say check out Sophie's video! Xx

    Hahaha, this is brilliant. No one ever talks about your body naturally pushing. Uk hospital is rubbish... You birth a human being and they give you tea and toast 🙄 I am 30 weeks myself now.

    Anyone reading my comment kindly clear my confusion.... Can you plz tell me that I heard, hitting on a pergnant woman baby bump hurts her so bad, is it real, means if a woman is unfortunately hit by someone or something on her baby bump(belly, stomach) hurts her bad???plz tell me home with shan
    And secondly I want to ask one thing to clear my confusion that I read and watched lots of vedios that during labor you can relax yourself by eating, watching something on mobile, TV and doing something but I heard that labor pain is so painful then how can a person eat, watch or can do something else in so much pain even I,i cannot even walk during periods due to pain
    So tell me labor pain is moreful or my periods pain is more painful???
    Because if a person can eat, watch during labor then it means labor is not that painful as everyone says like during periods I can even walk
    Labor pain afraid me to such a extent that I was not able to listen about someone's newly born baby, it mentally hurt me so bad but when I start reading and watching vedios about it, I seriously found nothing as I thought about labor, woman even do not cry during labor as I always cry during periods due to pain, I don't know why people say labor is so painful, I seriously found nothing, I thought woman may scream, or want to die in order to get rid of pain but after searching, I found its painful but not as I was thinking, woman seem relax even at the end part of labor or only moaning and some even laughing and the end. Nothing more then this...
