  • Denver Concrete Inc completed this stamped concrete patio & sidewalk, along with hot tub in November 2023. Originally, the crew completed the sidewalk and patio in 2022. Over the course of the year there were some issues with the border of the patio and there was pretty significant lateral cracking across the front face of the new stamped concrete patio.
The homeowner called Denver Concrete Inc crew to come back and review the issue. It was decided that the crack was definitely a warranty issue and so, the crew removed around 75% of the border and reinstalled the border with additional reinforcement.
During the process, the homeowner wanted to add a hot tub pad onto the existing patio. So, in addition to the new border, the crew installed a new hot tub pad with the same stamp as the original stamped concrete patio. The stamp for this project is the "castle stone" stamp. The integral color of back patio is "slate" from the Solomon line of Concrete Colors. The crew applied a dark gray color to the lows of the pattern, giving a more organic hardscape look to the patio.
The border has been colored dark gray and stamped with a texture skin stamp. This darker colored border gives a two tone look and feel to the patio.
The crew had a change in elevation for the hot tub pad as it needs to be set at close to level (.5% slope) for the hot tub to jets to function properly. So setting the hot tub at a lower elevation was necessary to obtain the desired slope and not interfere with the elevation of the existing concrete patio.
The construction of the patio is a 4" thick pad for the border and the hot tub pad is 6" thick. Our crew used 4,000 psi air entrained concrete mix for both pours. The original back patio and sidewalk were reinforced with #3 reinforcement bar, set every 2' on center. The hot tub pad has been reinforced with #4 reinforcement bar set every 1' on center.
A ground line concrte pump is used inthe majority of the stamped concrete patios that Denver Concrete Inc installs. Using a ground line pump is not only efficient and timely, but it allows the crew to focus on what is important, finishing the installation.
