Yes Dutch language lessons: "How do we address Queen Juliana?" With "Mevrouw" was the answer. Also like the rest of us she often rode a bicycle. By not acting regal she was respected by the young people of the 50's and 60's. Even in the "Lastige Stad Amsterdam."

During the 20th century the lower middle class breeded more prodigiously than any other class and became dominant in Dutch society. The Dutch royal family knew all too wel that it couldn't offend the envious lower middle class too much and opted for a more common lifestyle. Our current Crown Prince recently said that he loves to eat microwave dinners.
Juliana , from a tomboy down to earth Nature . Her love marriage to her handsome German Prince. Feminised The young Princess . I, as most considered her . A True Queen for Country and people. Wise, devoted, loving, caring . Both Juliana and Bernard .Led interesting useful lives. Wise intelligent after the somber period of a dominant person's presence. Happily overcome.... Beatrix inherited much of her mothers. Wisdom and in turn became a wonderful Queen.Supported by her adored intelligent charming Prince.
Forgive me if it is offending...But somehow I find this lady the most clumsy and awkward royal ever..Not just in this video..right from her youth to wedding to old age all her pics and vids are so bad...
If you think she was akward then you should get into European royalty history. I think you find some REAL akward people then. Queen Juliana was anything but akward.

Her reign was filled with scandals (Greet Hofmans, Lockheed) and she made the most insane proposals to members of the cabinet (spending taxpayers money on cream pies for imprisoned murderers on her birthday) . She tried to act as a common person which is impossible for a royal. The Dutch common man, who hates class and style, loved her, naturally.
