Nice Video! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Piyason Videographic Ventures (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a great one off product for creating your own viral video minus the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my mate at last got great success with it.
Hey! Thank you 🙏🏻 I’m so pleased that you found these tips useful and so glad that something so simple makes a big difference and has already improved your videos. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Thanks my man! 🤩 much appreciated. Gotta try to keep up with your quality bro! Seriously it means a lot that you keep tuning in. I just hope that they bring you some value at least. Not that you need the tips! 🙏🏻
I really like the moving the light especially for bigger products it adds more deepth then just moving the camera. Im honsetly pumped to see more videos .you have a very warm personality keep it going.
Hey bro! Sorry I’ve only just seen your comment! I’m so glad you find value here and you’re trying these simple but effective tips. Stay tuned bro... plenty more to come. Thanks for watching 🤩🙏🏻🎥 all the best to you
I love them all. Just depends on the situation. Don’t back light as much so I’ll probably mess with some more of that this weekend. Good job my friend. Have a good weekend.
Hi Chase. That’s cool! I hope the Godox works well for you. I love it!! 🤩 let me know how you get on with these tips. I hope they give you some ideas. Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻🎥
Love the backlight and split lighting techniques. My favourite tip was to use negative fill. I almost never use that dark side of my reflector and even sometimes forget I have it. Great video Sam!
Great! So please this video came in handy! Yeh it’s not so obvious to use the dark side but it really does help keep the unwanted light from bouncing back. Thanks for watching again! 🤩🙏🏻🎥
Those are all great tips, Sam! For my food photography, I personally use a 45 degree back/side lighting technique with, or without a filler reflector - depends on how much of a moody vibe I want to go for. I've never tried a direct overhead light for shooting food before, so I know what I'm gonna do tonight! Thanks again! 😀
That is interesting. I wondered how you lit your videos! I think reflectors are so underrated. So helpful! Ah let me know how you get on! So pleased you found a new thing to try out 🤩 Thank you for watching! 🙏🏻🎥
Thanks bro! 🤩 Haha 😂 the hat is to hide the lockdown hair! It’s getting wild! So pleased you like the product shots! Haha tomorrow for the bloopers! 🎬 thanks for watching! 🙏🏻
Thanks to this video, I realized that the problem I was having wasn’t that my SL-60 is underpowered, but that I’m placing it too far from my products. One question I didn’t see asked was what is the stick LED light you are using to create the rim highlights with?
Hi Sam! Super helpful, thanks for the tips. Sorry if this q is a bit daft, but how do you mount the softbox + godox into a overhead position? I only have a light stand, and it feels like im missing one more equipment.
Hi Keffie. Thanks so much for watching. I’m pleased it helped you. Well, you can get what’s called a c-stand or boom stand/arm and you’ll be able to change the angle of your light. I think there’s a link in some of my newer videos for an affordable c stand that I use. I hope that helps 🤩🙏🏻🎥
@@SamHolland Hi Sam - Amazing, thanks for that. I hope you'll open your one-on-one mentor sessions sometime, I could do with some advice on kit set-up & tips. Have a nice sunny week ahead with the beginning of the END of lockdown ☀️.
My pleasure 🙏🏻 thank you for your question. I’ll have to work on getting those open ASAP! Thank you 🤩 you have a great week too. I’m always on Instagram if you need anything in the meantime 🙏🏻🎥
Hi Sam, thanks so much for the informative video! How would you light for a product that is much bigger around 10ftx10ft or even bigger than that? I assume the same techniques except bigger lights? Also how do you deal with the background in those situations? Please let me know (:
Hi Rose. Thanks for watching! That’s exactly it! The bigger the product/subject, the bigger the light. I guess it all depends on the theme of the shoot... that will then determine what you want in your background. There are so many options and variables. If it’s a car for example, do you want urban scenery or a country landscape in the background? I did a video on choosing background here... ruclips.net/video/XoV10DjoURc/видео.html 🙏🏻🎥 hope that helps
Can you recommend a soft box for the sl60w that doesn’t involve such a tedious break down like the Godoy or Neewer models? I heard there are similar ones to the spitfire that are much easier to set up but at a fraction of the cost. Great video as always. Glad I found the channel.
Hi! I certainly can. I have a few softbox videos but here’s my most recent one ruclips.net/video/uAEx3lPhMPo/видео.html Thanks so much for watching and I’m pleased you like the channel 🤩🙏🏻🎥
Hi Sam, very informative videos you’ve got going, keep them coming! They’re very helpful! I had a quick question about slow-mo and the Godoy sl60w. You mentioned on your other video it’s not great for slow mo when shooting as the light isn’t strong enough - is this correct? Was any of this video shot in slow mo? If so it looks great!
Hey Mickey. Thank you my friend 🙏🏻🤩 I’m pleased you find the videos informative. Yeh it would be good if the light was a little brighter for higher shutter speeds and aputures at times. All this B Roll was filmed at 25fps on the slow setting on my slider but other b roll I have done, I have used the Godox and slow motion. You can get away with it, especially for the price BUT if you want that extra bit of power, you’re better off with the 150 or 200. Hope this helps! 🙏🏻🎥
Hi Sam, great video. I’ve just bought the Godox this week, I watched your video on it. I like all the techniques you’ve shown here but can you tell me how much you play with the power of the light output as well? Do you have a preferred level for soft lighting in your product videos? Thanks again 👍
Hi Rich. Thanks for watching and for the question. Sure! It all depends on what I’m doing but I try and get as close as possible with the light and softbox to create the softest light possible. Depending on the settings of the camera and my lens I have it quite bright. I now use the SL150ii (which I have done some videos on) this gives me a brighter light when filming at higher shutter speeds/slow motion and that really helps. That light also goes down to as low as 1% so it’s super versatile. I hope that helps 🙏🏻
@@SamHolland Thanks Sam, that's useful. I need to bear in mind the higher shutter speed issue but I'll have to learn to live with what I have. Thanks again, keep up the good work with the videos. 👍
Totally. I used (and still do use) the SL60w and it’s fine. Just nice to have the extra power but it comes at a price of course. The 60 is more than great. 🙏🏻
hey Sam, sorry mate, one more question if that's ok. If I'm shooting at e.g. 120fps will I need to turn it right up to avoid the flicker I've seen talked about? Have you experienced this?
I think it’s just the power output. It probably also depends on what you’re used to. This was my first “proper” light so for me, it seemed amazing but now I’ve used more powerful lights, I can see that the 60w can lack. But it’s totally passable for most RUclips type things... depending on what it is of course and a number of other factors. I hope this makes sense 😂 thanks for watching 🙏🏻🎥
@@SamHolland you can make it work with the 60 for many instances though right? I think I am going to use it to train up with light before upgrading but the 150 is giving me major GAS AND fomo lol
What was your favorite tip?

What kind of background you’re using in this video?
Hey bro. I’m using the colorama paper background roll. 3m x 50m charcoal colour. With the Lastolite by manfrotto frame. 🙏🏻🎥👌🏻
I use the sl60 with a parabolic softbox and I find the light a little.... Not bright enough? Is there a reason that's not doing the trick?
I think it’s just the power output. It probably also depends on what you’re used to. Haha thanks David. Yeh that’s right 🇬🇧🎥🤩
Jinbei ef ii 60w continuous lights beats the godox sl60w. Worth the price difference
