Jon Hamm is probably one of the only guys who could pull off this character. I love the Fletch novels. I love Chevy Chase's Fletch. And I was skeptical about a reboot.
«The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.»

I like John Hamm, but this looks stupid. No where near the classic.
The Fletches should have continued instead of the Vacations. No one can out do Chevy.
Not going to beat the original, that's for sure
please pick up the series for this - lovely ensemble cast and very bright, comedic pace
Either way I'm excited that my baby in the trailer lol
Holy crap I didn’t realize this was being made!

Looks fun!
Chevy is the only fletch
This was one of the worst trailers I’ve ever seen, and I saw “Bros”
Where's Chevy Chase? I HOPE He Makes A Special Guest Appearance/Cameo.
Does forgery figure into the plot?
This...is no Fletch.
Hamm is too dashing, too handsome to play Fletch. Chase was perfect with his boorish, sardonic delivery in everything he did. SNL, Foul Play, Spies Like Us, Natl Lampoon, Funny Farm...Chase was born to play Fletch, he was such a natural for the role. Also, the original 1985 screenplay was written by the same guy who wrote Blazing Saddles, so yeah, there's that too. This just seems like a self indulgent Hamm project, DOA. It's one thing to be a big fan of Fletch, it's a completely different thing to try to actually become Fletch.
You should probably watch the movie.

I'll watch it because I love the originals and John Hamm is great... but... this is a pretty bad trailer 🤷♂️
Awful.
Not even close
I hope to God this is good. I love the character of Fletch.
Where is scream 2 trailer 4K 😢?

Hahaha I was right. No where near the originals. Wasn't funny, the story was ok.

They got this clown to play Fletch? Vladdy can’t nuke us soon enough
I can't think of a better actor to play the sarcastic Fletch except maybe Denzel Washington. The movie feels a little bit low key & moody for a good Fletch vehicle. #HaventReadTheBooksDisclaimer
Ryan Reynolds and Jason Lee were in the running a while back.
Denzel Washington as Fletch ? Fuck, no !
@@cherylowilley6007 Agreed! I’d read all the books way back when, and was truly underwhelmed by the Chevy version.
All these people commenting don’t realize Fletch is a book series, not two Chevy Chase movies.
Wrong, its both
And probably a good reason no one really know about them. LOL
The only reason people care to remake the movie is because of the Chevy chase movie

Just watched Confess, Fletch. Sadly, the film falls flat and quite far from the book on which its based. The filmmakers had a great opportunity to take Gregory McDonald's classic mystery novel and adapt it closer to the author's intent -- a dramatic mystery with touches of humor and sarcasm, but definitely not a comedy. But very quickly, the film devolves into a hot mess of bad comedy which borders on near silly slapstick, pointless scenes which go nowhere, bad acting or overacting, and so on.
Too bad to because I was looking forward to seeing this film. Don't waste your money on this movie, read the novel instead.
Had high hopes but this trailer is not great. Should have been Ryan Reynolds or Jason Lee 15 years ago.
No No No

There will ONLY BE ONE Fletch.... Good old Chevy Chase (especially with scenes like him opening the front door to a beautiful woman and saying "What can I do to you, for you" 😉👌... However... This doesn't look too bad, so am going to give it a go... 😏. 😎🇬🇧
Yep, ZACTLY! "Can I borrow your towel, my car just hit a water buffalo?" 😆🤣
@@jasonnehceis3267 The Dr. Rosen bit gets me every time 😂
Well technically there will only be one Fletch played by Chevy because that Fletch was so incredibly far off from the actual character of Fletch and any of his dozen stories. Which is exactly why 99.99% of people do not consider Chevy’s Fletch to actually be Irwin Maurice Fletch!
