I have a better translation that keep the wording and beauty to the arabic line that been translated to " i've lived far to long so far ": لبست الليالي فأفنينني I wore the nights and they left me weary
Not really. While i agree with the fact that the translation in the video could use some work, i don't think what you came up with is any better. I see where you're coming from trying to match the arabic word لبست from the root word لبس with the word "wore", which i have to say doesn't even make sense in English itself, "i wore the nights"!?, but aside from that, the main issue with this is that the arabic word here isn't referring to the verb "to wear" at all! لبست here can mean one of two things, either I've "ignored" or i've been subject to the passage of time, i quote: لَبِسْتُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ أُذُنِي: تَصَامَمْتُ وَلَمْ أَتَعَلَّمْ لَبِسَ قومًا: تَملَّى بهم دهرًا
I am not sure, but I think "لبست" here is releated "to wear", because he then says وَسَربَلَني الدَهرُ في قُمصِه and "قمص" means a shirt or something you can wear as a top@@orangecaprinun
may be. i would argue however, that this is actually word play (paronomasia) on the poets part. meaning he's actually making use of the multiple meanings of the word (لبست) by utilizing the idea of wearing or putting clothes on just in the next bar, while the initial one is still about "enduring or living through" many nights. @@RuthlesslyDeliberate

The problem is the English is lacking , it can't be translated fully as it uses a single word that mean multiple meaning and it depends on the culture also its not weird as arabic words are alot imagine the lion has 300 different names and the sword has also around 300 thats how rich it is and each name has a different description and meaning @@Ray-of-Hope720

I have a better translation that keep the wording and beauty to the arabic line that been translated to " i've lived far to long so far ":
لبست الليالي فأفنينني
I wore the nights and they left me weary
لبست here can mean one of two things, either I've "ignored" or i've been subject to the passage of time, i quote: لَبِسْتُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ أُذُنِي: تَصَامَمْتُ وَلَمْ أَتَعَلَّمْ
لَبِسَ قومًا: تَملَّى بهم دهرًا
I am not sure, but I think "لبست" here is releated "to wear", because he then says وَسَربَلَني الدَهرُ في قُمصِه and "قمص" means a shirt or something you can wear as a top@@orangecaprinun
may be. i would argue however, that this is actually word play (paronomasia) on the poets part. meaning he's actually making use of the multiple meanings of the word (لبست) by utilizing the idea of wearing or putting clothes on just in the next bar, while the initial one is still about "enduring or living through" many nights. @@RuthlesslyDeliberate

@@AbdulrahmanAlshalal Bahrain region that included the current Bahrain Archipelago, current UAE, Qatar, parts of Oman, Kuwait, East of the Arabian Peninsula deep inside the current Saudi, that became parts of Saudi after the Portuguese and British colonialism, existed before Islam and was called Bahrain, Bahrain region or Bahrain state with again, Bahrain, the island being part of it. Prophet Muhammad Peace And Prayer Of Allah Be Upon Him sent a well known message to Bahrain's Ruler Al Munther Bin Sawa calling him to join Islam and he and Bahrain's people welcomed and joined without a second thought. They were known to be the first of believers from outside Mecca and Medina. A history book could help you with your question. I'm a Bahraini and he's one of our historical figures. @@Suwsue do not speak as if you know when you don't know. It's embarrassing. It shows lack of knowledge. Bahrain existed way before Islam. Bahrain is well known in history but, if you yourself do not know then you just do not know simply because you've never been informed or read. And by the way, 'SYKES PICOT', has nothing to do with the Arabian Peninsula. It was to divide areas outside the Peninsula. Get your facts checked before preaching. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
116. And Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary! Did you say to the people, ‘Take me and my mother as gods apart from Allah?’” He will say, “Glory be to You! It is not for me to say what I have no right to. Had I said it, You would have known it. You know what is within me, and I do not know what is within You. It is you who are the Knower of the hidden.
117. I only told them what You commanded me: ‘Worship Allah-my Lord and your Lord.’ And I was a witness over them, as long as I was among them. But when You took me back, You were the Watcher over them-You are Witness over all things.
﴿١١٨﴾ إِنْ تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ ۖ وَإِنْ تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
118. If You punish them, they are Your servants; but if You forgive them: it is you who are the Mighty and Wise.”
119. Allah will say, “This is a Day when the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness.” For them are Gardens under which rivers flow, where they will remain forever. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. That is the supreme attainment.
﴿١٢٠﴾ لِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا فِيهِنَّ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

as a native Arabic speaker and an English teacher I say English could not deliver the total meaning of this poetry, because Arabic is so rich language unlike English.
You can't translate the poetry of any language into another language while keeping its essence and verbal-eloquence intact.
Try translating English or French poems into Arabic.
