In Japan(1991 - 1993), it was Art Of Fighting and Fatal Fury competing against SF2. Then in 1994 it became KOF vs SF Meanwhile in America it was SF2 vs Mortal Kombat because MK is popular in America but not Japan
Finally I got to see the end. This was a tough game for me. As were many other one on one fighting games of the time. Funny how the end said 1908 instead of 1980. If this game took place THAT far back, there wouldn't be any of the contemporary stuff that we have today. Not to mention it would have taken place long before World War II.
SNK is famous for bosses like this. Almost every fighting game they make has a ridiculously stupid-powerful boss at the end who is almost unbeatable unless you know exactly what you're doing and have practiced endlessly.

For Smash Bros fans. I wouldn't recommend this game for a First Fatal Fury unless you are brave. This game is harder than the future ones. The soundtrack is good.
Fatal Fury 3 is pretty hard even on level 1 difficulty. Fatal Fury Wild Ambition was also harder to unlock Ryo Sakazaki than he was in Fatal Fury Special. Real Bout Fatal Fury and Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 not so much. Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves was a bit tricky too.

Played Fatal Fury Special on Switch a year ago. Seems as though the classic SNK games are hard as hell especially on a lower difficulty. But, I got use to it. I have gotten better within a few days, though.

If you ever have any interest in checking out the Fatal Fury series, I recommend starting with Real Bout Fatal Fury Special as Fatal Fury 1 didn't age very well.
Does anybody remember Terry's yell on the ground punch sounding like he was shouting "Ah ohhh, baby?" Or was that from another version? And did't he used to bring his hands up and over before doing it?
Geese never died.. he would see several other games before he truly died.. I think it wasn't until Real Bout that he was actually dead as that's Nightmare Geese but he's alive for Real Bout 2 as well as Wild Ambition and his first(and only appearance until XIV though he worked behind the scenes while Billy, Mary and Yamazaki did his bidding) in 96.. he was also dead in svc chaos (then again, you had to die in order to even reach the parallel world tournament, it was stated he had been dead a lot longer than any of the other chars though leading up to svc chaos..) also, the Fatal Fury 2 movie dictates that Geese survived and went into hiding while Krauser actually did die, as any earl stroheim would commit suicide if defeated by an opponent..
The sound and music in this game, when it was released back in the day, was absolutely stunning. Still sounds good today.

It's a screwup with the MVS' internal clock, this was recorded in 2008 and the clock mistook it as 1908.

its actually the day set in cabinet for example 2008 was 08 or 1908 in the game logic
The game just takes the Arcade Machines inner clock. If this is set correctly it will show the date of the day.

Does anybody remember Terry's yell on the ground punch sounding like he was shouting "Ah ohhh, baby?" Or was that from another version? And did't he used to bring his hands up and over before doing it?

I like the date typo in the ending. Geese dies in 1908...
Geese never died.. he would see several other games before he truly died.. I think it wasn't until Real Bout that he was actually dead as that's Nightmare Geese but he's alive for Real Bout 2 as well as Wild Ambition and his first(and only appearance until XIV though he worked behind the scenes while Billy, Mary and Yamazaki did his bidding) in 96.. he was also dead in svc chaos (then again, you had to die in order to even reach the parallel world tournament, it was stated he had been dead a lot longer than any of the other chars though leading up to svc chaos..) also, the Fatal Fury 2 movie dictates that Geese survived and went into hiding while Krauser actually did die, as any earl stroheim would commit suicide if defeated by an opponent..
Geese and Krauser died in the Fatal Fury series but are alive in the King of Fighters series.
