I never knew this game was actually beatable lol. It always seemed like the levels went on forever :(
Jrum178 yes I've bet the game but never perfect
Lol thought the
Same thing
Was it that hard? I beat it when I was in kindergarten...I need to play it again as an adult! I’m curious now
I remember ir being too tough. He makes it look easy.
Just a regular girl out there Who? No you didn’t
Twenty whatever years later and this game still gives me anxiety
Still remember Level 4 with the revving of a chainsaw and it makes my stomach flip, that's the most memorable level for me
I have never had this much anxiety in any game ever.
the music, chainsaws, all of it!
Lol so many memories brought back by the chainsaws.
Bobby JCFHv Lichtenstein Most definitely. As campy and over the top as this game was there was definitely that 'It' factor a game like this needs. That legit sinking, uneasy feeling you'd get from hearing the chainsaw rev or seeing the sun set waiting for that werewolf howl. Many parts of this game legit scared me.
What a rhythmic person. Changing items to the music... I love that about this guy
2:08 lol
Lol especially the part at 33:03😂😂🤣🤣🤣!!
9:44
Yeah that was dope.
I found it unbearably annoying lol
49 freaking levels?!
Well, I'm not going to beat my 10 year old self up from never being able to finish this one.
same. this game a was a beast.
I never realized how close I was as a kid! Lvl 36!
Why. Not. 50.
Plus the secret levels which makes it even more annoying
my dad gave me every password for the levels and i still couldnt beat it
we need a remake of this game, best game I ever played. and also nice game play friend
no remake, but wii console have them for sale too
Le terminateur what if they remade in 3D
Just play the original..
yusss they should make a updated version and then put it as a online free multiplayer game where u can team up with other players (max is 4 tho)
ha un français sa fait du bien !
I love how the grilling neighbour only gives you 5 points while the barbecue (or whatever he is grilling) gives you 100 points, giving the hint that the neighbour is less important than the food
My mom loved this game RIP MOM
Rip
rip
Minds did too we use to after school I couldn't wait to play rip to your mom dog
My dad lived this game too. R.I.P. Dad
Im sorry for your loss too
ahh the memories... Excellent job Player 1
Love how he played to the music, cycling through the items and weapons like that.
Some serious style points.
I love the soundtrack on this game
Music was perfect gave you a genuine fear
Me too
Me and my Dad used to sit and play this for hours together when I was a lot younger. Never got very far but great fun and a very underrated game. I thoroughly enjoyed your play through and to speed run it was very impressive! Loved watching the video! :)
I was 5 when I finally played this game and struggled with the chainsaw guys . 24 years my son played and struggled with the same guys … lol
lol nice
Like father, like son
Evil castle middle of nowhere with poisonous sewage leaking into it?
Good spot to fill my inner tube and chill.
1:28:19 The credits are so creative. Each production member is a character in the game :)
As someone who played this like crazy as a kid and could never beat it, this is satisfying as hell to watch. Just absolutely annihilates the game.
There has been this image in my head, for a long time, about a giant baby stomping. I figured it was some cartoon from my past. But I couldn't remember it. And I kept thinking, why is it in my head? Was it a dream? But I let it go and just didn't even bother finding out. But just recently, my brother had and I was just casually talking, then out of the blue, he was like "I remember a game back when we were kids called ZOMBIES ATE MY NEIGHBORS". I was like "I don't remember". Then he was like, "look it up and see if you do". So I did and OMG!!! So many lost memories was suddenly remembered. 😂😂😂😂 Oh Wow! How could I forget!?
My theory is, they turned up the baby's speed until it became a credible threat.
I had that same thing happen to me
Omg me to man it got to the point where I just googled old game with giant stomping baby and I finally figured it out 😂 the memories man
This story is so relatable
Lol same but it was me trying to remember somee sort of doll level and tremor worm level
The music is so catchy. I’ve always loved it.
I think it is much better on the Genesis version.
@@counterweight320 I don’t think so the sega genesis is so “dead inside” while the snes version has sound effects making it catchy
This game was a damn masterpiece. Awesome music, gameplay, tons of levels, crazy scary.
One of the best games ever created for the SNES. My brother and i were playing it everyday =D
Your walk-through literally saved my life! Your tactics and knowledge of how to go through each level helped immensely! After playing this game for 25 fucking years I finally beat it!!!!!! Thank you so much for your help! Took me 5 hours...
this was the game that fueled my fear of zombies watching my brother and uncle play this
When someone says Dark Souls is hard, make them play this and regret being born.
there are only three games I cried after beating
Zombies Ate My Neighbours
The Immortal
Russian Roulette with my crazed uncle in the basement after his Nam flashbacks overcame him and his Heroin dealer got arrested.
So true.
@@judyhopps9380 Now that's some perfect "Read more" placement if I've ever seen it.
This my first game . Today i play at Bloodborne.
1:24:16 what an epic way to conclude such a chaotic speedrun. The boss introduction perfectly synchronizes with the music
Remember playing this during my final year at school 24 years ago. Time waits for no man.
I will never be happy until this game is on the snes online on Switch this is literally one of my fav SNES games
LET'S FCKING GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it omfg 😍🤪😍🤪🤪🤪
It's coming to the Switch on June 29!!!!!
done
39:11 all made sense when I was older. The Mall is the most memorable part of the game for me and I still own this game. I played through it with my friend when we were kids. Eventually I played Resident Evil which lead me to renting George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead (1978) on VHS.
In 2008 I met Ken Foree and Tom Savini from Dawn of the Dead and in 2010 I met George A. Romero which was like a dream come true for me, along with other main actors from the film. Even the composers Italian Rock group GOBLIN I saw perform live and met them after the show. I am a huge fan of Dawn of the Dead... and it all started from playing this game as a kid.
Me and my brother have been trying to figure out the name of this game for over a decade. And I finally found it
Joel Hernandez I thought I imagined it! No one I knew remembered it and all I could remember was that Trampolines and lumberjacks were somehow involved. So happy I found this shit 😄
Joel Hernandez Lmao same I had to search up zombie snes game
Im surprised you forgot. Its one of the most memorable names for a game ever.
ZAMN 😍
Zamn 😱
Man, the artist in this game was just REALLY good.
But the main character running animations are poor.
@@inceptional It was a bad running animation even relative to it’s time, when we picked up this fantastic game on launch day back im 1993. Toejam and Earl did it better two years earlier, as one example.
@@inceptional Very true, it’s subjective! The artwork is excellent.
Thank you for saving all the people!
Now THIS is a speedrun, not that neighbor manipulation BS
I like how you changed weapons to the rhythm of the melody as well as messing with the zombies @20:57 lol
At first I thought it was some tech I was missing, took me a minute to realize what he was doing. I love it.
Yea max out the sprites number so the game won't spawn new monsters right next to the victims.
Amazing shit, dude. Serious props. I could never get further than like level 22 in this game as a kid, so it's awesome to see you destroy it. I can't imagine how stressful this run must be, knowing that one bad monster spawn could ruin the whole run. I knew when I saw you get that bazooka in the first trash bin that there had to be some RNG manipulation at work. I'm kind of curious how much of the routing and strats you had to figure out yourself, since this isn't a massively popular speed game.
Thanks! I figured most of it by myself. Including the RNG in level 1, and the routes for almost every level. The way the first drop works is by selecting the character at the right frame after a reset. Then just keep pressing up+left to ensure the RNG is consistent until you get to the bin. You can see more details about this run here: speeddemosarchive.com/ZombiesAteMyNeighbors.html
It had a fairly harsh password system tbh. If you jumped to later stages the difficulty got an effective hike because it didn't store your inventory, so you'd always start with a tiny number of items.
I finished it just once when I was a kid, felt like there were 100 levels. This game fuels my anxiety.
AAAAHH I miss this game, used to play it when my daughter was little. We had the sega channel lol. Got a connector thing from the cable company that would fit into the sega like a game. For a fee we would get like 30 games a month to choose from. Zombies Ate My Neighbors was a regular. Never made it close to level 99 though lol.
I could see this being made into a movie.
Funny thing is that there was a rumor of this being a movie last time I checked.
This game is a homage to many different movies
I would watch that movie
I love how he keeps switching the items in the rhythm of the music.
Why are all the innocent civilians so blissfully unaware of the danger they’re in
This game was scary to me but not for the monsters, but the fact you can get a Game Over screen by seeing all the people being killed by them
Me and my dad beat this game a few years ago ( with the use of MANY save slots) and the pure joy we felt when it was finally over oh my goddddd it was amazing hell
This Game has some of the greatest music Ever from the SNES Era
You should 100% do a breakdown on your techniques and tips that you do while doing this run. This shit is amazing
Well there's a link in his description to pretty much every strats he does and where he got more nervous.
This game needs a remake badly. I would get it on the Switch.
I was just talking about that
@@jboyxd6573 Really? Haha. I was just thinking about a fun horror video game rep character like the guy in this game to be in smash bros. Having a creepy eerie music and like, some monster double creature inside of him.
But yeah. Imagine the graphics of this game in 3D. That would be amazing.
@@slytheguy6988 Someone already made a Doom mod thats 1-1 with the SNES version. Looked awesome but not sure if it was ever finished or not.
I will release pretty soon i already know people can wait to play again
Enough of the remakes; we need new games.
This game freaked me out as a kid. Great run by the way! I never understood though how a squirt gun was a viable weapon against the undead.
Holy water :)
This game is everything. Kids today will never know.... Glad to have grown up in the 90s.
i was born in 2009 and i played this game for a year or more trying to understand what the stuff meant(cuz i don't speak english originally)😂
That music on level 25 is iconic and my everlasting memory of this game, it's good to hear it again and see this game again, well done!
When I play this as a kid and then a adult I would always get the last level but never could beat it, watching you play this makes me want to try again.
ZAMN 😍 1 HOUR!?
This run is blowing my mind. Good job!
Edit: I would have to imagine that the Martians are your worst enemy since they slow you down.
great job on this run, man. that was dope
Watched this from beginning to end. Never thought it was possible, nevermind something someone could speed run. Amazing gameplay! So few close calls and so many exploits that blew my mind tbh! Might pick this game up again soon to give it a shot, but i doubt I'll get past the 20s! 😂
My Godfather just passed today from lung cancer and he's the one that introduced me to this game on the Sega as a kid.
I miss you like crazy R.I.P
best game ever give my childhood
I had forgotten how good this game was. You played it so well. Excellent work.
Loved this game as a kid. Thanks for this!
I love how the runner is switching Items to various notes in level 3 lol :)
haw haw haw, YEAH I did that too when I used to play. I dunno why though.....
He shoots his weapons to the rhythm of the songs levels too lol
im 31 watching zombies ate my neighbors speed run that i'm pretty damn sure i've watched before. my life in a nutshell :/
27 years later, and I see the "Day of the Tentacle" level for the 1st time. Never once in my childhood did I come across that.
What a brilliant play-through. Amazing game. Amazing music.
As much as this game is a classic for all
I feel it was way beyond the realm of difficulty for its target audience
I agree, it seems like 95% of players never made it past level 22
There were some levels that once I figured out what you were doing, it blew my mind. Inching forward and using a treasure chest to kill what ever was just about to attack someone. Or spawning a bunch of mummies because I assume only a certain amount can spawn? This stopped other mummies from spawning and killing a survivor. wow. Good job
I love how relatable the changing of items with the music is
Nothing better than being 5 and watching my older brothers play these old gems man
she's 12??
Damn, well I'm impressed. I usually start losing neighbors around Level 10: No Assembly Required (Those evil dolls kill off a couple of soldiers before I can even act).
Brings back a lot of memories playing this game Saturday morning with my brother and sister
I remember the heavy sweat of playing level 20. Those damn worms man. For the longest time I thought they were indestructible.. Feels good watching you plow through them.
speedrun this game while he is making music with the weapon change button hahaha, such a good player.
i laughed like crazy at 39:56 because julie got crushed like an insect.
Followed you all the way to the end for my platinum, thank goodness you can save it now lol
I greatly appreciate changing the item with the music, as I do it as well and it just completes the music for me.
This is one of my all time favourite game, would love them to bring it back some how.
The chainsaw level I could never get passed.
That level gave me the worst anxiety.
@Mike Driggs are you still watching this on 2020 as me? Say yes please hahaa
Me and my best friend growing up who passed away recently this was our fav game. U r insanely good at it. Good video.
I am in awe. Despite my best efforts over a decade of playing this game, my best friend and I only ever got as far as the Giant Ant Farm. I know a lot of people have said this, but you made it look so easy! Nice work.
I use bazooka sound for brake screen for my channel. Great game! P.S: when i was young, i seating many hours and trying to pick up bazooka in first level. I'm happy man, i get it)
Хех
Very nicely executed.
Some of the finest tunes to hit a system. These tracks are life. Top 3 game for me
I used to play this game before i could walk
This was the dark souls of our generation.
Beat megaman x when i was 3 as well.
Went back and tried to play megaman x a few years ago and could only beat the penguin boss.
The first 5 minutes of you cycling your weapons to the music i was a little annoyed, but after that i fell in love with it. You're a god
Major props. I only ever got to Frankenstein
Mad props! Even though I knew you beat the game without losing a single neighbor, I still gasped in horror at every close call
I remember putting hours into this game. I loved it so much as a kid. I still hope maybe one day I can play it again but this will have to do for now.
download emulator and play it on pc.
Never knew what the ending looked like...nice work
I like how the Dr. Tongue's Castle level uses both the opening music and the carpet pattern from The Shining. Nice homage.
46:23 saved
Wow you’re pro!! Loved the level music mocking with item switch.
I played this so slow…I remember I opened every cupboard, door, collecting EVERY item and hoarding it, always loved being the purple monster. Never beat it but this was my favorite game for years.
“SomePlaceVeryWarm” what does that mea- oh....
never got past 12 or even 20 with random passwords... this is extremely therapeutic to watch and awesome too actually, i never knew the pyramid box was best used on the giant babies like a homing missile at a distance
Awesome job MM !!! Epic run , Epic Game !!!
The nostalgia.. is so real. Never came close to beating this game but damn if it wasn't a blast trying over and over.
Damn good job man. Love this game
The sound track to this game is so damn good!
Fantastic job! It was a joy to watch all the way through.
He didn't rescue all. Lvl 41 time 1:11:00 he missed a chear leader. Dont get me wrong I love the video and the game...which is why I watch the entire video. Brings back memories.
I was always under the impression that level 36 was the last level, because I could never kill the damn spider. X_X
@1:09:22 so close lol
Daaaamn, if she died he could start from new.
Omfg right
Ikr
Ella salto y fue ahi que la agarro antes del zombie :v
run forest run
I like the Item switching for making music 😄 nice gameplay 👌
It's so satisfying how you always switch items in rythm of the music. love it
Between the SNES and Sega Version of zombies ate my neighbors. I prefer the SNES version because the graphics and sound effects are better than the Sega version
