I remember watching people play this game at the arcade back in the day, i remained there in awe mesmerized at the graphics and sound of this game. Good Times. The only other time i've ever felt the same was at the same arcade when they brought it Killer Instinct.
This, Fatal Fury 1, Metal Slug 1-4, Neo Turf Masters and few other Neo-Geo games including KOF '94, '95, '97, '98, 2002 & 2003 would always my favorite games that I love the play and have a special place in my heart as a SNK Fan
Omar Gad The characters will be 3D models but on a 2D plain, i don't think SNK is that stupid to try that again. I hope it looks something like GG Xrd but in their own style like Xuan Dou Zhi Wang it even has Terry & Benimaru in it i guess it inspired SNK to do something similar, can't wait for the new KoF & SamSho they're working on.
Now that's definitely my favorite arcade game of all time. "A samurai fears not death, struggles to triumph over evil, and lives for one purpose: Destroy all enemies!" Love that part! ❤️💞💕😄🇯🇵
There were plenty of Smash fans who crapped on Terry just because he wasn’t somebody they wanted, but thankfully he earned his respect among the admirable Smash fans and got many people into Fatal Fury, KoF, SamSho, and more. They’re still definitely underrated when compared to Capcom, Bandai Namco, or NRS, but they remain a fantastic company with fantastic ideas.
One of my favorite of snk, yet it hard as fuck to adapt the first time, yet one of the funniest and greatest vs i ever see of that generation, the fact of being killed or ko depending if you finished someone with your blade or punch/kick is a really good touch, great game
Bad ass game. So bloody. So much fun. I hate the fact that the Super Nintendo version of Samurai Showdown does't even let you see your enemy get cut in half like in this one.
man this fuckin brings me back...the arcade machine I used to play this on had the sound for some reason maxed out, it sounded so epic I would always have a crowd of people watching...awesome game 14:48 SHARUROTTO
Out of all the games in the series, the first one has the best presentation: good sound, good english, interesting characters. It went downhill from there, but hope they return to the original and add in the new gameplay features found in the newer games. I have the SNES version, and it has more interesting dialogue, but mostly the same. Seems like SNK added some features from SS2. Thanks for sharing.
Not played this game since mid-90's and noticed some blatant racism and very subtle racism (perhaps why this never fully took off past the Neo-Geo outside of die-hard fans like myself). Amakusa ("'a mock usa") is an anglo who's weapon appears to be an atom and one of his attacks is a mushroom cloud-forming blast:) then there's the Fat biker from Arizona with a projectile fart attack, the Mayan warrior who's land is simply labeled "Green Hell" (amazon/Brazil). Funny what u don't notice haha
@WizardOfWor Probably not longer than some of the other playthroughs we can see on cubex55's channel. E.g. the longplay of Blue Dragon (360 game) takes over 20 hours. So, I can't see why we couldn't have a full playthrough of the fighting games. Shouldn't take more than 6-8 hours for Samurai Shodown 1. And most of these players are enthusiasts, too. Thus there isn't a lack of motivation, either.
@ WoozleWuzzle You might consider using the arcade version with an emulator. These games run pretty smooth on older hardware. If you're worried about the lack of a pad, buy an adapter that allows plugging Playstation2 pads into PCs (usually via USB). They are quite cheap (5-10 dollars or euros) and work really well (and there is no better pad for PCs...at that price). Alternatively, try changing your PS2's country setting to something else. Not sure if that works, though.
Fuck this brings back a lot of memories. Smashing nickels into Quarters size. Eating Flaming Hot Doritos while waiting my turn with quarters in the screen of the kids that were next.. Thank you for this upload. Now I have to go find this game.
If several people are saying that this was the first weapon-based fighter inspired by Capcom's Street Fighter II, then say hi to Namco's Knuckle Heads.
Of course, I always like games that take place in Feudal Japan (this and Samurai Warriors as well). Though this game is quite good (and unique in it's own right for the time). But I don't understand why characters in this game didn't make it in The King of Fighters games. Haomaru is a perfect opponent for Terry Bogard.
Some characters could not be cut in half, like Tamtam and Kyroshiro. For the others, finishing the opponent in midair with a solid medium or fierce strike is usually enough. A few times they've cut in half on the ground too.
Because KoF's storyline takes place in contemporary times...they would've had to have stretched player's suspension of disbelief to shoehorn in SS characters.
The best SNK game I ever played. Even to this day, these bullshit games ain’t shit on this gem. In Japan it’s called Samurai Spirits. I never liked the sequels Like samurai 2,3,4 etc. The first one nailed it flat on the head. Long live Samurai Showdown.
Yep. And that whole Nakoruru in KoF 2000 doesn't count since she's an extra striker and E.S aren't part of the main story and are just there for fan service.
I remember watching people play this game at the arcade back in the day, i remained there in awe mesmerized at the graphics and sound of this game. Good Times. The only other time i've ever felt the same was at the same arcade when they brought it Killer Instinct.

It's 2013 and I just realized Galford and Hanzo are palette swaps.
Well done, SNK. Well done.
"I awake from 100 years of sleep to kick some butt!"
Subtle...
''No, I'm not related to that guy in Fatal Fury!''
I loved this game. And I still do. It's a classic. One of SNK's best games.
Until Nintendo came along and ruined it when they hired Takara to release it on Super NES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System)
one of the coolest games ever they seriously need to bring this back.
They will, snk playmore is doing SS7 hope it wont be in 3d
Omar Gad The characters will be 3D models but on a 2D plain, i don't think SNK is that stupid to try that again. I hope it looks something like GG Xrd but in their own style like Xuan Dou Zhi Wang it even has Terry & Benimaru in it i guess it inspired SNK to do something similar, can't wait for the new KoF & SamSho they're working on.
It's back 😍
They do
Now that's definitely my favorite arcade game of all time.
"A samurai fears not death, struggles to triumph over evil, and lives for one purpose:
Destroy all enemies!"
Love that part! ❤️💞💕😄🇯🇵
nel, suena mejor en japones...
A Samurai Fears Nothing,Struggles To Fear Over Evil And Live For Purpose To Destroy All Enemies!
"No, I'm not related to that guy in Fatal Fury!"
Heh, well played, SNK! :)
SNK doesn't get nearly as much respect as it should
There were plenty of Smash fans who crapped on Terry just because he wasn’t somebody they wanted, but thankfully he earned his respect among the admirable Smash fans and got many people into Fatal Fury, KoF, SamSho, and more. They’re still definitely underrated when compared to Capcom, Bandai Namco, or NRS, but they remain a fantastic company with fantastic ideas.
I've always loved the opening to this game. Very epic.
To call me "Awesome" is an understatement
Excellent gameplay! Very few have managed to get the "perfect" ending of this game.
Thanks for the video!
16:42 "NO, I'M NOT RELATED TO THAT GUY IN FATAL FURY!"
Talk about breaking the "Fourth Wall." 😐
Finally! Someone who uses the upward flying sword attack! So very effective
Remember playing at Pizza Hut back in the day
Did they have arcade consoles in American restaurants?
Cosmic King yes, back in the day.
I played this at a chinese buffet, I was always mesmerized by the Sprites as a kid.
One of my favorite of snk, yet it hard as fuck to adapt the first time, yet one of the funniest and greatest vs i ever see of that generation, the fact of being killed or ko depending if you finished someone with your blade or punch/kick is a really good touch, great game
TO CALL ME "AWESOME", IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT
Forever love this game to death
Love the fact that Mai makes a quick guest appearance. I wonder if there is a connection with her and the main character.
29:53-30:03 Mai Shiranui?!!!!!!
I remember watching this in the arcade but never had any money to play it lol.
ps. The first level sounds like Ryu's theme.
The first and the best one.
The 2 was better IMO
V, V Special, and the upcoming V Perfect would beg to differ. 🤪
But the first and second are definitely very close.
Part 3 is my favorite
Fuck no. They don't even have the combo system yet and Hanzo, the best looking character doesn't even have his awesome big hakama pants yet either.
Bad ass game. So bloody. So much fun. I hate the fact that the Super Nintendo version of Samurai Showdown does't even let you see your enemy get cut in half like in this one.
“Ipponme! Shoubu!” That’s English for “Round 1! Fight!”
Holy shit, this game suffers from the same typo that's at the end of the Ghostbusters NES game: "Congraturation!!"
A very difficult game...
soldierskereo9 As in button mashers avoided this like the plague , because even sometimes masters go owned once in a while.
"No, I'm not related to that guy in Fatal Fury!"
Did Jubei just broke the 4th wall?!
Samurai Shodown. Good Franchise, convoluted storyline. Nuff said.
Yep and the storyline’s timeline is confusing.
@@DestinyZX1 It starts with Samurai Shodown V, then I, then III, then IV, then II.
@@jakebello7988 yep and it ended with the hyper neo geo Samsho games
@@DestinyZX1 So, 64 and Warrior's Rage.
Earthquake had the best music
Joguei pela primeira vez em 94, na época eu tinha 14 anos! Fiquei fascinado 🤗
Congraturation!!
The soundtrack is so kick ass, especially Wan-Fu's stage. It in my Top 3
3:39 *ASS QUAKE*
Kiryu Ga Gotoku LOL.
@slapshot68 "Ippon" means "one full point". It's a term used in martial arts contests.
I hope they keep most of craziness intact. I don't want PC culture to stop them from doing it.
I can almost smell the mall arcade by watching this video.
The game that put SNK on the map....
"CONGRATURATION!!"
I so love this game. Thanks for the upload cubex55.
this takes me back, used to main gen an who is actually mai's ancestor
"No. I'm not related to that guy in Fatal Fury!"
I was about to say the player had spelled "Showdown" wrong, but then noticed the title in the vid, so I guess it's meant to be like that!
So many memories playing this at my local corner store in the 90s
2:30 the iconic Haohmaru win pose. i found it so amusing back in 1993
man this fuckin brings me back...the arcade machine I used to play this on had the sound for some reason maxed out, it sounded so epic I would always have a crowd of people watching...awesome game
14:48 SHARUROTTO
My favorite SNK games back in the days KOEGETSUZAN
Thanks for the upload :)
These old school fighting games are better than 2days

Is her ancester
Best sounds ever

Samurai shodown is back with 2023 year in april on 26
The game series that introduced me to the world of famous Japanese warriors of history and the makai (demon realm)
Best gameplay I've seen
It's a good thing that there is going to be a PS4 version of this game next year.
I'm guessing you're offended by a lot of things. You sure have issues!
What have you been smoking?
Is Amakusa male or female? I have no clue, but I assume Amakusa is a male, correct?
KokushiMusou19H He's a guy. In OVA version They screwed him up.
The ending credit music beat is sick cool music
This won Electronic Gaming Monthly's game of the year award in 93'
Looks really good. But who agrees it was the very best game of 93?
@WizardOfWor

In Haohmaru's ending a character from Fatal Fury 2 it's Mai Shiranui
I'm a samurai, a rebel guy, We must part. Be brave Oshizu.
It took me FOREVER to figure out those red things Ukyo throws at you are apples. An apple a day keeps the tuberculosis away, I guess.
Playing on level 1 difficulty has no samurai honor!
Yep, do Level 4 at least, or in my case, I do Level 8(hardest).
Samurai showdown 7 with coming to tokyo city
@ WoozleWuzzle

At 27:26 the game started to troll you
Fuck this brings back a lot of memories. Smashing nickels into Quarters size. Eating Flaming Hot Doritos while waiting my turn with quarters in the screen of the kids that were next.. Thank you for this upload. Now I have to go find this game.
Precious memories
If several people are saying that this was the first weapon-based fighter inspired by Capcom's Street Fighter II, then say hi to Namco's Knuckle Heads.
Samurai shodown everyday is coming to tokyo city
F***king LOVE the announcer!!
Did Jubei break the fourth wall?

Que dice cuando gana y se escucha showari haomaru?
Fantastic game.
That waz da gutz on 18:54 with da dogg getting caught in da tornado.
Jubei is not related to that guy in Fatal Fury. He not only sees into other games but into the future as well.
Some characters could not be cut in half, like Tamtam and Kyroshiro. For the others, finishing the opponent in midair with a solid medium or fierce strike is usually enough. A few times they've cut in half on the ground too.
my friends put a lot of quarters in this game
16:42 He can time travel to 1992
Because KoF's storyline takes place in contemporary times...they would've had to have stretched player's suspension of disbelief to shoehorn in SS characters.
@Kijinn:
True, but doing playthrough of all characters will take VERY, very long.
Samurai shodown is game over
The best SNK game I ever played. Even to this day, these bullshit games ain’t shit on this gem. In Japan it’s called
Samurai Spirits. I never liked the sequels
Like samurai 2,3,4 etc. The first one nailed it flat on the head. Long live Samurai Showdown.
SS2 is a masterpiece, 3 onwards no bueno.
Is congratulations the hardest word to spell in old school video games? 😂
Wow! Very well noticed...
With KOF XIV out, will they make Samurai Shodown VII? They're going to make an official anime series in the future BTW!
They are doing a KoF anime now, all CGI, based on KoF 94 oddly enough.
@Kijinn
no that would be a "superlongplay"
Yep. And that whole Nakoruru in KoF 2000 doesn't count since she's an extra striker and E.S aren't part of the main story and are just there for fan service.
wat's ippon mean?
Samurai shodown is back in 2027
Recorde mi niñez y me sorprendio ver a mai
Must be InuYasha's time period.
Samurai showdown it come to tokyo city
12:48 WHAT? HOLY SHIT, WHAT?
Haohmaru: "You gon' do sum prayin', boy and I want ya to pray good."
The first time I beat this it took me like fifty tries.. What the hey
They cut that out, on that version. This is the true Arcade version
