I had always had trouble remembering when to pick up the Bar from the front or the back, so I came up with this: "I Left thru the Front door and I came Right Back". M1L = pick up from Front M1R = pick up from Back
Great instructions on how to do the M1L and M1R stitches Kristen. This is Linda from Canada. I have learned so much from you, over the years.Your videos have taught me a lot of new knitting techniques. Thank you Kristen.
Okay so: I looked up this technique and found a suitable video but then I saw your video in the recommended, left that, and immediately knew I’d get in a simple two minutes. I legit trust no one but you for guidance. Thank you for making knitting simple!
Thanks so much! I was looking for a way to do increases about a week ago and then this popped up. This is so much better than the yarn over method my pattern said to use. I can't stand the holes it left if my baby blanket and hope this method doesn't leave holes like that.
This is super helpful! Love your videos with the large contrasting yarn they really help me to see exactly where the needles are supposed to be and what the finished contrast Colored stitch looks like. A simple but brilliant detail of your video that helps every time! Do you have a video on M1lp and M1Rp? I get tripped up on the M1Lp. Thanks!!!
This is fascinating, i have only ever made an increase by knitting in the front and back of the same stitch. I will try this next time i have to "make one" in a pattern Kristen. Busy using your tumbling blocks pattern but with Aran yarn and equivalent needles.. Its lovely.
So happy to hear you're knitting up the new Tumbling Blocks Blanket! Oooh.... it'll be gorgeous in Aran yarn. I don't have the patience to knit smaller gauges, ha! Share a pic with me when it's done please!
I have a request. Can you please make a video of how to make a second row when knitting like a ordinary pot holder. Please and Thank you 😊. Plus I love all your videos.
This is literally the 5th M1 video I've watched and no one has told me, what to do once your flip the project. If want it to slant left, I make 1 left on one side, but am I making a make 1 right on the other side???????

When someone sees me knitting and is interested, I always refer them to studio knit!!! Helped me become a better knitter for sure.
You literally taught me how to start knitting. I love how you go super slow and repeat several times. Thank you Kristen!🙌🏼❤️
Thank you for clear explanation. The video is also near enough to see each step.

I've had such a hard time with M1 increases when using small needles and fine yarn
Ive started my knitting journey. Can you tell me please if the M1L and M1R work only on right side (knit st)? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.
Thanks !!💖
Muchas gracias 😘🇲🇽

If my pattern just says "M1" how do I know if it is L or R?
I've got the same question.
At 0:42 she says if it says M1, that is the same as M1L👍
@@seneca3516 Yes exactly! Thanks for helping everyone out, Seneca!
When your pattern abbreviates this technique as M1, it is the same as M1L which is a left-leaning increase.
