Gonna say it here. Ever since Master Duel, the fact the duelists with these decks spam the same 4 cards in triplet form is entertainingly irritating. But the lore of every archetype is always fun.
It’s a very interesting deck for sure. But it’s easy to beat. No longer a meta deck. Beaten nearly all of the Eldlich players I’ve faced and I only used RDA deck 🤷♂️
@@SgtSnowballs I've been out of the dueling gig for years so coming back and seeing this deck one every 3 duels, yeah, it's easy to counter. With my current deck though? Not enough times/lucky enough to keep the board clear for a win lol.
eldlich not even op because the archetype itself but how it can play around floodgates that make it broken (skill drain, io, vanity emptiness, etc) take out the floodgates and the deck is mostly gonna be tier 2-3

Lich's return from the dead as long as their phylactery remains intact. Usually depicted as a vase of sorts. The Eldlich monster uses his trap cards as pseudo phylacteries, where as long as he has a trap card available, he cannot ever really die. Lich's are also known as powerful wizards of sorts and are able to utilize and make use of corpses for themselves. They will often reanimate a corpse and possess it. Eldlich does this as well where he has undead zombies that come from his power (trap cards).
Honestly, this is one of those archetypes that is just awesome for the references and lore alone The actual mechanic of Eldlich reviving himself as long as he has a Phylactery/Trap Card is just the icying on the cake
@@cyberquasar2267 I actually experimented with an Eldlich/Vampire Deck that I tested and literally the FIRST game was against another Eldlich player. Ended up losing the match , but it was really close and fun. Vampires, shockingly, play off Eldlich really well as well as having some cool counters for him ( Vampire Vamp literally let me steal one of his buffed Eldliches right from his board)
@blitzer25 blitz not true exactly if you trap stun and destroy skill drain edlixh has no counters and all they can do is just annoy you I did that to an ellich player and he stubborn refused to surrender until he had no cards in his deck and 350 health

I thought he had the purple cape because he was a “Lord”. Purple use to be a very rare color, the only people of royalty would be only ones to have it .
@@petiteexplication6249 They are anime archetypes. Blue eyes is born out of Kisara and Dark magician is born out of Mahad. They'd have to consider archetypes that don't appear in the anime at all, such as Orcust or Gusto.

I've loved this archetype since I first laid eyes on it. The trap monsters, the lore, the slow control playstyle. It's like it was designed for me as a person.
It's late to comment this, but I didn't see anyone else talking about it and I think this is a really interesting theory that's worth mentioning. When you think of the Philosopher's Stone you typically think of some sort of crystal, gem, or rock. But the Eldlich's Philosopher's Stone is strange because it's a spiral. It looks like a shell, more specifically a Nautilus shell. We even see in the card art of Eldlixir of Scarlet Sanguine that the stone has chambers the same as a Nautilus shell. Now something commonly associated with the Nautilus shell is the irrational number Phi (1.618033988...) which goes by many different titles such as the Fibonacci Sequence, Golden Ratio, or in this case Golden Spiral. A logarithmic spiral with the growth factor of Phi or the Golden Ratio. This Golden Spiral's shape is considered perfectly proportioned for infinity and is often compared to a Nautilus shells. This has led people to find the Golden Ratio in all sorts of weird places in nature giving people the impression that the Golden Ratio is some hidden building block to the universe. So all that to say it's really cool that the Philosopher's Stone, an all powerful alchemical creation capable of bending the laws nature and equivalent exchange to it's whim like transmuting lead into gold, takes the form of a spiral representing the Golden Spiral and Golden Ratio, a number that acts as a building block to the universe and nature. I haven't seen Yu-Gi-Oh! lore go this hard since Vendread.
This seems like the kind of deck that I'd make as a returning player, fairly simple to pilot and easily the best deck archetype for someone who enjoys comboing off of a beatstick
I would like to point that "adelantado" in Spanish means "to arrive earlier" Very interesting video, happy to see Konami actually put some effort into this.
Funnily enough, the lich is one of the most legendary monsters in D&D, and is used as the final villain for many campaigns. However, it is lacking it what it can do, with very few hitpoints for having a challenge rating of 21, at only 135 hp. It's spell list is also lacking, and a party of level 20 players, which the a challenge rating 21 opponent is supposed to present a challenge for, will often times mow it down easily, because of the sheer power a level 20 party can hold. Which is why many people will make modifications to it for the lich to present a greater challenge, and the Eldlich archetype as a whole feels like a really cool homebrewed version of a lich.
This is probably also why a lot of fantasy series make a clear distinction of "ordinary" Liches and Elder Liches Implying a Lich grows in power over time
I don't think Japanese, including Yu-Gi-Oh deves, are aware of D&D anymore outside of few old ones, let alone this deep into it. It's so dead and WotC stopped Japanese version .

Either way, there are so many sources for fantasy things like liches that it can be tricky to try and pin down a specific source of inspiration. Especially something like a lich that outside of a few key features, is a highly moldable monster that can be twisted to fit just about any setting.

There's a few more Nuances to El Dorado Adelantado, yes, it's precisely as you said, but in some cases it can also mean "the golden [man] in a rush." just something to think about. Great video
Ah yes, and to think this was one of the archetypes to welcome me into modern Yugioh, with my first functional deck being Eldlich Mayakashi Bone Tower And with both Lord of the Heavenly Prison + Ghost Meets Girl - A Mayakashi and Shiranui's Tale out...
Makes sense lorewise too, since Liches are almost always treated as some of the strongest undead in Fantasy ( D&D liches , which this was based on, is ironically hit or miss cause of their relatively low stats compared to a lvl 20 party)
"Seven City's of golden land" It's basically a free fusing card that you can use but it has a bonus effect that allows you to disable a opponets face down trap for a turn and the card is permanent until you use golden Lords effect to basicly bring him back from the dead or Gy For those that didn't know
This is mostly correct, but it's important I think to note that it's implied Eldlich the Mad Golden Lord isn't him eventually being consumed by the philosopher's stone, but rather Eldlich when he fully unrestrains the powers of the philosopher's stone and allows it to run wild. If you compare Eldlich after being summoned by his effect with Eldlich the Mad, they're actually extremely similar: both have stats of 3,500 and 3,800 (Eldlich has more defense while the Mad has more attack) and immunity to destruction effects. The biggest difference lies in that Eldlich can keep reviving himself whenever he's sent to the graveyard whereas Eldlich can't be destroyed by battle: Eldlich has total immortality and normally can just revive himself if he's killed but when the stone's powers are completely released the energy sends it into overdrive and speeds the process up so much that he effectively just can't die. I'd imagine eventually (whether he just calms down or gets taken out) the stone's power returns back into itself and Eldlich returns to normal no worse for the wear. It's also important to note that Eldlich (when he was human) wasn't the first one to go to El Dorado in search of the stone, as plenty of groups of adventurers tried before him and all fell victim to it. He was just the only one who was crazy enough to go in alone. Considering how absolutely MAD you would have to be to hear rumors of a city of gold that steals the minds and bodies of all who see it and speedrun your way to the middle to grab the limitlessly powerful artifact of doom with your bare damned hands I think Eldlich probably wasn't ever sane to begin with.
You're surprisingly accurate with the current master duel solo mode, eldlich was a pirate mercenary and he was hired to protect the researchers who wants to study the golden land which unfortunately all of them turned into zombies, except him who is somehow strong enough to not get killed by the rampaging zombie and immune to the radiating stone, he was freaking insane man.
I was todays years old when it occured to me that our lord and saviour, the legendary lord helix himself, is featured in the Eldlich archetype as the philisopher's stone.
Eldlich is my favorite Archetype of all time. I love Zombie Monsters but unfortunately the most decks are not the best. And than there´s Eldlich. This deck is fun to play and very powerful. The perfect for me.

This was my specialty since last year. In November of 2021, I won my first Local Tournament using an Eldlich Invoked Dogmatika Dragoon deck. I won a game mat and field center as a result of my winning.
Little mistake: The Eldlixir cards don't all summon from the same places. Scarlet Sanguine, the trap card, summons from the deck or graveyard (most of the time the best effect countered by being a slow trap card). Black Awakening, the normal spell card, summons from the deck or hand and it also summons in face-up defence position only. White Destiny, the quick spell card, summons from the hand or graveyard (often a bad effect at the start of the game but being a quick spell card makes it pretty versatile later in the game).

Playing Master Duel for the last couple weeks has made me want to buy a copy of “Eldlich the Golden Lord”, entirely so I can go full Episode 1 Kaiba on it. It wouldn’t actually stop anyone from using it against me, but it would feel *damn* good.
@TheRealOJ32 Oh yeah, don't get me wrong: there are plenty of other degenerate decks out there. I've run into the horrors that are Numeron and Blue-Eyes before, and can attest to how infuriating there are; I haven't personally encountered True Draco (and haven't had _that_ much trouble with Utopias), but I can also add Tri-Brigade as possibly the single most obnoxious deck I've ever played against. It's just that I tend to encounter Eldlich players a LOT more than I encounter the other annoying decks.

I love the use of Gilgamesh on this video, Fate would be a great franchise for you to expand into. I'd definitely enjoy your breakdowns of characters and legends in that universe.
I just finished assembling my Eldich deck and I used it 3 times this past weekend.. I destroyed 2 Red Eyes Dragoon decks along with destroying 1 Dragoon with Eldich the Golden Lord and the other with Eldich the Mad Golden Lord. I lost to a blue eyes deck ONLY because I didn’t use Huaquero correctly. This deck is literally worth gold in real life. I never thought that I would have more spell and trap cards in my deck than monsters. Deck rating: 10/10
My favorite card from this archetype is " El Dorado Adelantado" the artwork looks badass and the name sounds cool af and I guess the card effect is cool too

I played an eldlich player yesterday. I used prohibition on golden lord and I won instantly lol. It's just a trap heavy deck that uses golden lord to beat down the opponent. Cheap and corny. I recommend everyone to main deck prohibition in master duel.
Ooo interesting choice for lore exploration. Nice! Kind of expected the people malding over Eldlich but considering the game is just "Make sure your opponent can't play" unlike the anime, they probably play stuff so they can just beat up their opponent with no resistance too. Which is why I just play Eldlich to just save steps for the same result anyway since MD is for when I'm bored.

The Spanish conquistadors *did* find the golden man. They encountered the Muisca people, known for their gold dust ritual, and enslaved them and took their wealth, as was their MO. But the way in which the Muisca used gold (not as highly-valued currency, but only as decoration) convinced them that the *real* treasure had to be hidden somewhere else. And that’s what turned the hunt for “el hombre Dorado” (the golden man) into “el dorado” (the gold).

Here's not something official but what comes to mind between Conquistador and Huaquero cards. A Conquistador was also associated with some sort of violent "conquista" and I can see it's effect related to make violence on "someone" (the monster destroyed). A huaquero is a more modern concept, where they act as graverobber, usually destroying "things/sites" and thus doing violence on the dead (banishing from GY). It is a little odd they look more like pirates in the picture, and even carry a sable and not more "digging" tools. Thanks for the vid, was fun!
"gift of immortality" it makes sense since eldich is hard to kill or get rid of . i really fell in love with using that deck because its not just a super op deck its a deck to literally break knee caps to a lot of other archertypes decks and use strategies how to counter them
These videos really make me want an anime series that focuses on the lore of these archetypes. The possibilities are just about endless especially with how many archtypes share "worlds" with each other.
Before this video came out, I made a deck in master duel based off a real deck of mine and called it corrupted souls based of a part of the decks lore. Watching this and looking up your invoked video, I had no idea how fitting that name was. In case your wondering, it's an invoked shaddoll deck with eldlich the golden lord used for the light attribute
This is great! Where is the lore from? Does Master Duel go over the Eldlich lore? I've only done the first chapter where they talk about the monarch lore
Not to mention that since the main monster is a king wearing golden (or you could say yellow) armor it could also be another nod to Lovecraft and the eldrich horror he created called The King in Yellow

So basically it's a combination of Fullmetal alchemist, El Dorado, Herman Cortes thrown into Yu-Gi-Oh and out comes the Eldlitch Archetype

Ah yes, and to think this was one of the archetypes to welcome me into modern Yugioh, with my first functional deck being Eldlich Mayakashi Bone Tower
And with both Lord of the Heavenly Prison + Ghost Meets Girl - A Mayakashi and Shiranui's Tale out...
Makes sense lorewise too, since Liches are almost always treated as some of the strongest undead in Fantasy ( D&D liches , which this was based on, is ironically hit or miss cause of their relatively low stats compared to a lvl 20 party)
The Tri-Brigades! Also its generally just 4 stages of evolution for the stone. Rubedo is known as both the Reddening and the Purpling.

It's basically a free fusing card that you can use but it has a bonus effect that allows you to disable a opponets face down trap for a turn and the card is permanent until you use golden Lords effect to basicly bring him back from the dead or Gy
For those that didn't know
This is mostly correct, but it's important I think to note that it's implied Eldlich the Mad Golden Lord isn't him eventually being consumed by the philosopher's stone, but rather Eldlich when he fully unrestrains the powers of the philosopher's stone and allows it to run wild. If you compare Eldlich after being summoned by his effect with Eldlich the Mad, they're actually extremely similar: both have stats of 3,500 and 3,800 (Eldlich has more defense while the Mad has more attack) and immunity to destruction effects. The biggest difference lies in that Eldlich can keep reviving himself whenever he's sent to the graveyard whereas Eldlich can't be destroyed by battle: Eldlich has total immortality and normally can just revive himself if he's killed but when the stone's powers are completely released the energy sends it into overdrive and speeds the process up so much that he effectively just can't die. I'd imagine eventually (whether he just calms down or gets taken out) the stone's power returns back into itself and Eldlich returns to normal no worse for the wear.
It's also important to note that Eldlich (when he was human) wasn't the first one to go to El Dorado in search of the stone, as plenty of groups of adventurers tried before him and all fell victim to it. He was just the only one who was crazy enough to go in alone. Considering how absolutely MAD you would have to be to hear rumors of a city of gold that steals the minds and bodies of all who see it and speedrun your way to the middle to grab the limitlessly powerful artifact of doom with your bare damned hands I think Eldlich probably wasn't ever sane to begin with.
You're surprisingly accurate with the current master duel solo mode, eldlich was a pirate mercenary and he was hired to protect the researchers who wants to study the golden land which unfortunately all of them turned into zombies, except him who is somehow strong enough to not get killed by the rampaging zombie and immune to the radiating stone, he was freaking insane man.
I was todays years old when it occured to me that our lord and saviour, the legendary lord helix himself, is featured in the Eldlich archetype as the philisopher's stone.

Eldlich is my favorite Archetype of all time. I love Zombie Monsters but unfortunately the most decks are not the best. And than there´s Eldlich. This deck is fun to play and very powerful. The perfect for me.

This was my specialty since last year. In November of 2021, I won my first Local Tournament using an Eldlich Invoked Dogmatika Dragoon deck. I won a game mat and field center as a result of my winning.
Little mistake: The Eldlixir cards don't all summon from the same places.
Scarlet Sanguine, the trap card, summons from the deck or graveyard (most of the time the best effect countered by being a slow trap card).
Black Awakening, the normal spell card, summons from the deck or hand and it also summons in face-up defence position only.
White Destiny, the quick spell card, summons from the hand or graveyard (often a bad effect at the start of the game but being a quick spell card makes it pretty versatile later in the game).

Playing Master Duel for the last couple weeks has made me want to buy a copy of “Eldlich the Golden Lord”, entirely so I can go full Episode 1 Kaiba on it. It wouldn’t actually stop anyone from using it against me, but it would feel *damn* good.
It's the most braindead deck out there it seems. My dragonmaids do pretty alright against it, but every other deck I've used gets kinda shit on

@TheRealOJ32 Oh yeah, don't get me wrong: there are plenty of other degenerate decks out there. I've run into the horrors that are Numeron and Blue-Eyes before, and can attest to how infuriating there are; I haven't personally encountered True Draco (and haven't had _that_ much trouble with Utopias), but I can also add Tri-Brigade as possibly the single most obnoxious deck I've ever played against. It's just that I tend to encounter Eldlich players a LOT more than I encounter the other annoying decks.

I just finished assembling my Eldich deck and I used it 3 times this past weekend.. I destroyed 2 Red Eyes Dragoon decks along with destroying 1 Dragoon with Eldich the Golden Lord and the other with Eldich the Mad Golden Lord. I lost to a blue eyes deck ONLY because I didn’t use Huaquero correctly. This deck is literally worth gold in real life. I never thought that I would have more spell and trap cards in my deck than monsters. Deck rating: 10/10

You should try out the Rikka archtyype combined with the Aroma Archetype they flow together very well.

I played an eldlich player yesterday. I used prohibition on golden lord and I won instantly lol. It's just a trap heavy deck that uses golden lord to beat down the opponent. Cheap and corny. I recommend everyone to main deck prohibition in master duel.
Ooo interesting choice for lore exploration. Nice! Kind of expected the people malding over Eldlich but considering the game is just "Make sure your opponent can't play" unlike the anime, they probably play stuff so they can just beat up their opponent with no resistance too. Which is why I just play Eldlich to just save steps for the same result anyway since MD is for when I'm bored.

The Spanish conquistadors *did* find the golden man. They encountered the Muisca people, known for their gold dust ritual, and enslaved them and took their wealth, as was their MO. But the way in which the Muisca used gold (not as highly-valued currency, but only as decoration) convinced them that the *real* treasure had to be hidden somewhere else. And that’s what turned the hunt for “el hombre Dorado” (the golden man) into “el dorado” (the gold).

Here's not something official but what comes to mind between Conquistador and Huaquero cards. A Conquistador was also associated with some sort of violent "conquista" and I can see it's effect related to make violence on "someone" (the monster destroyed). A huaquero is a more modern concept, where they act as graverobber, usually destroying "things/sites" and thus doing violence on the dead (banishing from GY). It is a little odd they look more like pirates in the picture, and even carry a sable and not more "digging" tools. Thanks for the vid, was fun!
This is one archetype i would like to try out, especially after hearing about the history of the eldlich horror.
"gift of immortality" it makes sense since eldich is hard to kill or get rid of . i really fell in love with using that deck because its not just a super op deck its a deck to literally break knee caps to a lot of other archertypes decks and use strategies how to counter them
These videos really make me want an anime series that focuses on the lore of these archetypes. The possibilities are just about endless especially with how many archtypes share "worlds" with each other.

Before this video came out, I made a deck in master duel based off a real deck of mine and called it corrupted souls based of a part of the decks lore. Watching this and looking up your invoked video, I had no idea how fitting that name was. In case your wondering, it's an invoked shaddoll deck with eldlich the golden lord used for the light attribute
