Vampire fascinator is based on Lenore from Castlevania the anime, who was a diplomatic vampire that thought humans should be treated... well... humanely. She still viewed them like livestock but actually cared about them.
@@blackbird7781 this is doesn't seem is the case here, her effect literally prevent other vampire to summon anything from your opponent grave after you summoned her, the previous generation of vampire gimmick is special summon from your opponent grave, you can't special summon anything from your opponent gy because you are locked into zombies, unless you are playing against another undead army, which she is more than willing to help. She's an " vampire-hunting Vampire" concepts seems very clear now.
The story might be like this 1. She meet a defeated human then taking him to her castle. 2. She is taking interest with her/him but doesn't harm her/him in any way. remember she doesn't turn the special summoned monster into a zombie. 3. Now she's working with that human to prevent other vampire turning people into zombies. 4. She start killing her own kin "tribute vampire" so she can get more non vampire allies.
Strange no "Red Moon Baby" as it was the first vampire card but wasn't switch in the TCG to "Vampire Baby" for a very long time or surprised on honourable mentions like "Blood Sucker"Blue,Red & Yellow Oni" which are meant to be vampire in bat form or the silly "Vampiric Koala" it's just so cute 🥺
I love this archetype, especially the modern cards; the gimmick of paying and gaining LP as well as taking control of your opponent’s destroyed monsters fits with the vampire theme a lot better than the older ones.
One thing i'm surprised you didn't bring up is how Vampire Grace is pretty clearly inspired by if not outright based on the legends of Elizabeth Bathory.
Very nice video but I think it was a little bit short on the background of vampire dhampir Sheridan! A dhampir is the child of a vampire and a human. A half vampire so to speak. And Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu was the author of Carmilla one of the most famous Vampire Stories in history and the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula!
Honestly it's not that bad using Grace's effect. You want to go first, and when it comes to Fascinator or Sucker, you want a monster in the opponents grave. It also gives you information on what your opponent is playing, which is never a bad thing; and even if they don't have cards that work in the graveyard, they typically dump a handtrap...which is a win in my books. Though I also like to play a small Zombie world package in my vampire deck. So I get scourge and grace to become beatrice, send a necroworld banshee and doomking, and by the standby of my opponents first turn doomking is on the field, so even if the monster I put in their GY is something they can use, I have a negate for it on the field already. Even better if I can get voivode on the field as well and save doomking's effect for their normal or special summoned monsters.
@@number-qx1kw usually I want to get handtrapped with ash/urara or veiler so I can use it i as tribute for vampire shadow or voivode in my opponent turn. The real problem is that if you drawn too many level 5 in your hand without any way to discard them and having grace which have no value in hand and field is worth it.
You know what's weird? When you look at their designs, some of the monsters are wearing crosses, even though in most vampire stories they are weak to crosses.
Yeah, two things come to my mind regarding that: 1) itis some Rosario + Vampire-like thing to intentionally (temporarily) seal their powers. Maybe they even did it to themself so they could lay dormant until their time has come 2) They somehow overcame this weakness and are now wearing them as some sort of batch and/or massive middle finger towards their enemies
@@TheChiog Or maybe they go by Vampire the Masquerade rules: crosses and garlic don't actually do anything to vampires (unless you pick those flaws during character creation).
I remember in a story that when lesser vampire asked Dracula who his sire (basically who was the vampire that turned him ) was he said that he has none and that he was Cursed by God himself so yeah maybe that's why the cross comes up .
I think it might be because the shape itself has nothing to do with it, but holy magic. Crosses are supposed to be sacred, but a fabric cross made by vampires would do nothing to them. Maybe, just spit balling since it's obvious it's just a cool design thing.
Yep can't be Halloween with vampires and the vampire archtype has always been an interesting one, including with the fact that it felt like to me a Castlevania archtype in deck form. All we need now is a Zone of the Enders archtype along with the Gradius archtype and we are good to go! Very nice job on the video TGS as always!
Shame that this and the great animated series is the most we’ve got from the Castlevania franchise for years. Once again, thank you for covering the lore and cards surrounding this archetype, as well as, the trivia TFS Anime. It makes your videos entertaining to watch. Btw, for the pro players out there, how good is the archetype in the meta?
I do miss when Vampires were focused on milling, but more cards started coming out that had beneficial GY effects so I get why they stopped. Maybe one day they could get a Nopenguin type monster where cards milled by Vampires get banished or negated as well.
I thought "Number 24: Dragulas, the Vampiric Dragon" was also considered to be part of the vampire archetype. It even have the blood moon in the artwork.
Vampire Fascinator luring other Vampires is, in all likelihood, a reference to Mina Harker from the Dracula novel. She was bitten by Dracula, but not fully turned, so she is able to sense where he is, and he can sense her location as well. Unlike other spawn, however, she is not forced to obey his commands, and thus she is able to lure Dracula into a trap
Both sucker and fascinator have built in anti undead effect attached. If anything they are basically the daywalker vampire as well like blade franchise.
My first guess as to why this archetype has mash ups would be a reference to how vampirism can be spread to anything. While there can be obvious sinister undertones to that, this sort of hybridization has always been interesting to me since it can sort if show how even incredibly different things can have something in common.
Because it does felt like that They are splitted into 3 different faction with each have their own method, remember ghostrick mansion dweller and ghostrick museum dweller have contrast different styles of locking, with nekomusume as the main play. Vampire lord Vampire Alucard Vampire draculean/voivode
oh man I really love the art in those. Dunno how good a vampire deck is in the grand scheme of things since it has been a while but I kinda wanna play one now
6:50 It's actually really interesting. You see, the undead as we know them have sort of existed throughout human history. However, during the late 18th century, vampire sightings were happening all over Europe. At this time the common revenant, what would later evolve into other undead ideas we have today, were mostly seen as spectral undead. They would project their image at night in order to spread pestilence and plague. These earliest examples of undead also tend to be where a lot of common vampire weaknesses originated: garlic, running water, and the cross just to name a few. Edit: Also most of the "vampire hybrid" ideas also exist. Witches were heavily associated with vampires early on. Some Slavic myths tell about a horrific vampire werewolf creature that even hell has trouble keeping locked up. Even mummies were very similar to how we see vampires today, sexy, when they were first conceptualized.
I love the fact that there is a card called "Number 24: Dragulas the Vampiric Dragon" that is literaly a Vampire Dragon, but it's not related to the archetype. Also it is a Wyrm monster ._.
Fun fact, the reason vampires never appeared in pictures or reflections is because back then cameras and mirrors were made using silver, a metal that was considered holy. Now in modern times, we use aluminum and other materials instead. So a modern day vampire wouldn't have to worry about those kinda things in this day and age.
Vampire Lord was released long before that Structure Deck, and Vampire Lady was released after Vampire Lord but before Vampire Genesis. I know because I already owned both Vampire Lord and Vampire Lady before my brother bought the Structure Deck, which was around the time of its release.
I think that vampire ghost is kinda of a "reference" to how the term "vampire" was a regional term for any undead creature on some parts of europe in the past, other regions of the world had their own words to describe creatures from beyond the grave: draugr in the northern europe, strigoi/shtriga on western europe, ghoul in the mediterranean, nzumbi on certain parts of africa (this specifically is the root of the word "zombie").
Vampire was my main deck way back when, I had no idea it had received so much support recently. Back in the day it played around using graveyard mechanics to avoid paying tributes for high star monsters, a super fun gimick to be sure, but man it was slow. xD
Pretty much the first archetype I started building when I started playing again. And I’ve been loving this deck ever since. Always looking to find ways to improve it.
4:25 This is only a small mistake but it angers me so much, the effect is NOT you CAN target one card on the field, you MUST do it, so you'll have to destroy your own goddamn cards if you just wanna attack directly with Vampire Lord and Vampire Lady and I HATE it SO MUCH, why isn't it "can" WHYYYYY
Ah yes the castlevania archetype. Fun fact, the Vampire Hunter card is actually called Vampire killer, based on the Vampire Killer whip from Castlevania
Also, Vampire Genesis is based on Dracula's final form in Castlevania, Castlevania Rondo of Blood and second form of the first boss of Symphony of the Night
Vampire Ghost is based on the cult that tried to ressurect Dracula time and time again. That is shown in their effect. Also, Vampire Fascinator is probably the most interesting one, being based on Lenore from the Castlevania anime
Also, Vampire Takeover is a reference to Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, which is set in modern day. Also Vampire Scarlet Scourge is based on SotN/anime alucard. (Anime version is based on SotN version as is)
Vampire Voivode and Undead Vampire are based on SotN Dracula. An interesting thing is that Vampire Fraulein is actually not a castlevania reference, but instead, is based on Rachel Alucard from the Blazblue franchise
It feels very incomplete. All of the old and middle introduced cards are ignored, (very little level 6, etc solid support) and there is no other focus on the Belmont card, if he's just a 1600 anti-DARK battler and nothing more, he'd have no chance against them, no items or whip or abilities or anything. There's very little castle references despite Konami owning Castlevania and where is Alucard? How about a retrain if Genesis?
Vampire Kingdom makes any card that sends a monster / trap / or spell to the grave good allowing the user to destroy things on the field. It also allows the user to send monsters from their deck to the grave yard getting more of the vampire's grave yard effects.
One thing I don’t understand about Crimson Knight Vampire Bram, the artwork depicts him in armour and having a shield, plus he’s a vampire knight. So, why does he not have any defense points? Maybe he wants to forgo defense?
I like this archetype, I need to make my own deck based on it some day also, I think Vampire Voivode's revival effect may be based on how, in the Castlevania games, Dracula is brought back every 100 years due to humanity's inherent evil (it fits with Voivode's ability to revive if the opponent summons a monster)
9:25 actually the reason vampires don’t have reflections is because mirrors used to be made with silver, which is considered a holy metal. Same reason a silver bullet kills a werewolf
vampire grace and vampire lord was my main cards in the old days, their effect when activated while you have vampire kingdom field spell face up , will destroy any card you want. you forgot to mention Vampire Koala .it's an old card but it worth mention.
Vampire decks are one of my favorite decks. I think a monster that works with the current strategy and the opponent deck milling strategy from the previous support would be nice
It happened a long time ago but I remember pulling these cards out of a Battle Pack and finding that most were in an odd rarity I think was called 'Star Foil'. It looked like starry sparkles. Thus, I was convinced Konami wanted to make Sparkly Vampires.
Ironically I was on master duel looking at my cards noticing that I have a fair bit of vampire cards and said to myself it is the spooky month I guess I’ll build a vampire deck and then I open RUclips and find this in my recommended box. The gods have spoken and the stars are aligned
I love the vampire monsters and I always felt they were based loosely off castlevainia which is why I add certain cards to my deck to reflect this such as pilgrim reaper to represent the grim reaper
You know a friend of mine a few years ago reintroduced me to the yugioh card game. I've watched yugioh up until 5ds so I'm well aware of the game but I've never had nor played with the actual cards That is until I met a good friend a few years ago. He showed me his collection and the decks he uses. His favorite deck was the vampire deck but since it was a few years ago, he didn't have the entire archetype. Instead he added a few other zombie cards to it to help it out. His ace monster was the red eyes zombie dragon. He explained to me that he won several tournaments with that deck so it's his go to deck Also sidenote is it bad that I find vampire Fraulein kinda cute? Lol
I keep coming back to this video because I love the vampire's. And Castlevania. But when I seen Camula and her deck both anime and in game, I been searching for and trying to make the deck lol.
Always wanted a werewolf archetype. Vampires always get the most love out of the old monsters and it feels overdone. Gotta give more love to other monsters.
I wonder if Vampire Retainer being dog-like is a reference to a hellhound. Only reason I think this is because in the movie "The Lost Boys", the Vampire expert characters state that a vampire or the head vampire (I forget which) will have a hellhound in its service to protect it. Plus, the hellhound was also white in the movie and Retainer's normal form is that of a white dog as well.
8:34 i think this is the most popular card in the archetype 9:02 so in fiction having a shadow counts as having a soul? wonder if there will be a day a fiction work compares vampires with holograms, that don't cast a shadow either
I was just rewatching your video about paradox vs yugi/jadien/yusi......and it got me thinking that it would be great to see the main characters from all the series do something together. Either a battle royal or some of them corrupted by evil and the others have to beat them to set them free. So we can see all of there dueling types be used.
Loved the video but you missed some cards. Like vampire koala, vampire baby (red moon bay), and vampire orchis. Plus an honorable mention with Patrician of Darkness.
I think vampire sorceress in vampire takeover is genuine a spellcasting vampire/zombie, she just standing like elemental hero captain gold in the top of lightning rod of a building.
Vampires are my favorite archetype. I built the deck years ago before all the new support. They were slow but I saw their potential because of their ability to keep coming back from the grave. Grace is great if you play kingdom but is still useful. Now that they can suck life points I don't mind paying her cost and is also great for rank six monsters with Scourge. With the kingdom you can also send more vampires to the grave and it is excellent against mill decks.
If you look at the monsters, you can tell what generation or bloodline the Vampires belong to. Genesis seems to be the progenitor or Lord, Lady, Grace, Sorcerer, Vamp, and Dhampir. Those that came form Genesis all have those odd chunky purple wing claw appendages that Genesis had. With the exception of the Links, Voivode is the progenitor of the rest as they all lack those appendages but have a pale to undead skin color and glowing red eyes. Sucker and Facinator seem to be of a different line as Sucker has really healthy looking skin, the familiars are different from the other two, and the eyes seem to not be locked to red (Facinator's being blue). Not to mention the ears of the two and that Sucker seems to be in the daylight as opposed to needing the blood moon. So that's at least 3 Vampire bloodlines within the archetype.
Side note, the vampire Sorcerer is not mechanical he is simply standing on the spike of the tower, his cloak is large and we are at an angle that makes it hard to see how he is standing on the spike. He is a sorcerer there for is not likely to be mechanical in nature and would be more magical.
1.Interesting thing to note, Vampire Takeover shows the Vampire Sorcerer converting a modern landscape into that of the Vampire Kingdom (hence it summoning the card directly from the deck)

Vampire fascinator is based on Lenore from Castlevania the anime, who was a diplomatic vampire that thought humans should be treated... well... humanely. She still viewed them like livestock but actually cared about them.
Found the single mom
@@blackbird7781 this is doesn't seem is the case here, her effect literally prevent other vampire to summon anything from your opponent grave after you summoned her, the previous generation of vampire gimmick is special summon from your opponent grave, you can't special summon anything from your opponent gy because you are locked into zombies, unless you are playing against another undead army, which she is more than willing to help.
She's an " vampire-hunting Vampire" concepts seems very clear now.
@@r3zaful ....? No, im just saying what the inspiration was for the card's art. It is literally a more undead looking Lenore with less human ears
The story might be like this
I had a Vampire deck for a while. I enjoyed playing with it. The vampire has always been one of my favorite monsters. Great job on this.😊
Still waiting for Black Luster Soldier archetype ;-;
Someone loves the shine; the luster...
BLS is just a misstranslated Chaos monster that Konami was too butthurt to fix.
I'm still waiting for all the Numbers' archetype
I was just thinking of making a Bling Luster Soldier.
Still waiting for the speedroid archetype.
I would love to see you cover the World Chalice Archetype, though I admit it's quite a lengthy archetype
World Chalice? not really. world legacy? Hooo Boi
I think he already covered world legacy in a previous video.
Don't do it
Imagine making your opponent sending a tearalement or ageido to the graveyard , imo not worth the risk
Yeah, two things come to my mind regarding that:
1) itis some Rosario + Vampire-like thing to intentionally (temporarily) seal their powers. Maybe they even did it to themself so they could lay dormant until their time has come
2) They somehow overcame this weakness and are now wearing them as some sort of batch and/or massive middle finger towards their enemies
Don't believe everything you read fellas
This message was brought to you by the illiterate association of illiteracy
Don't we already have the gradius archetype?
@@adaurysantos I did say along with the Gradius archtype since I knew that already existed but not a Zone of the Enders archtype.
14:40 | That was Ganondorf's blood.
"boots" ya sure, thats what got changed, her "boots"
It's still too funny that vampire dragon was designed by a literal child
Thank you so much for this! This is my favorite deck and my personal one and I like how it got more recognition lately!
Another fact: Vampire Fraulein is very beautiful.
I would love to see you cover the Fossil archetype someday.
Overall, amazing cover up for this archetype. Vampires are so cool
Well vampire is not in the name sooooo
Well it isnt part of the archetype per se, but is able to be easily gotten out by vampire cards. He is based on seeningly a mix of dracula and alucard
@@ChampionMarx Archetype cards without the archetype in their names is a thing though, aren't they?
@@Muriuki34 yes but this card also does not fall under that ether as it has no listing of the vampire archetype in its effects
It's not a vampire archetype but a Number archetype.
Zombie Vampire sounds so awkward; would've gone with "The Risen Vampire"
"THINK" it was justified? Till this day I'm praying that Dracula gets his revenge in the next season.
Nearly killed me with laughter at 18:48 Had to remind myself that fanny means bottom in America.
Because it does felt like that
They are splitted into 3 different faction with each have their own method, remember ghostrick mansion dweller and ghostrick museum dweller have contrast different styles of locking, with nekomusume as the main play.
Vampire lord
Vampire Alucard
Vampire draculean/voivode
It'd be awsome if they made Vampire Fusion or Vampire Synchro support.
oh man I really love the art in those. Dunno how good a vampire deck is in the grand scheme of things since it has been a while but I kinda wanna play one now
6:50
It's actually really interesting.
4:45
Wait, that's Peach's castle from Mario!😂
Vampire is only serbien word that are used across world
also fun fact, its originally pronounced Vampyr
I’d love to see the lore behind the Madolche Archetype
I adore this deck and love playing it both irl and in MD! I love the gothic theme and how the mechanics do feel very in theme of how vampires work
Fun fact, the reason vampires never appeared in pictures or reflections is because back then cameras and mirrors were made using silver, a metal that was considered holy. Now in modern times, we use aluminum and other materials instead. So a modern day vampire wouldn't have to worry about those kinda things in this day and age.
yo i love your videos!!! you're very knowledgeable and the well thoughtout scripts keep me coming back :) keep up the good work sir
I appreciate that!
Vampire Lord was released long before that Structure Deck, and Vampire Lady was released after Vampire Lord but before Vampire Genesis. I know because I already owned both Vampire Lord and Vampire Lady before my brother bought the Structure Deck, which was around the time of its release.
As well as vampire baby
I think that vampire ghost is kinda of a "reference" to how the term "vampire" was a regional term for any undead creature on some parts of europe in the past, other regions of the world had their own words to describe creatures from beyond the grave: draugr in the northern europe, strigoi/shtriga on western europe, ghoul in the mediterranean, nzumbi on certain parts of africa (this specifically is the root of the word "zombie").
Bro, strigoi its from romania striga from poland like in the witcher series. Not western but eastern
TGS: shows the Vampire Hunter card
me: You must be the Belmont
Vampire was my main deck way back when, I had no idea it had received so much support recently.
Back in the day it played around using graveyard mechanics to avoid paying tributes for high star monsters, a super fun gimick to be sure, but man it was slow. xD
Pretty much the first archetype I started building when I started playing again. And I’ve been loving this deck ever since. Always looking to find ways to improve it.
Vampire Hunter also resembles Leon Belmont, the one who started it all in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.
Pretty ballsy for them to take on vampires at night.
Cross+fire
Easy combo
Also, final fact for now, Vampire Killer's character seems to be a fusion of Leon Belmont, Alucard, and Soma Cruz
One of those classics in the old formats, Vampire Lord especially
It feels very incomplete. All of the old and middle introduced cards are ignored, (very little level 6, etc solid support) and there is no other focus on the Belmont card, if he's just a 1600 anti-DARK battler and nothing more, he'd have no chance against them, no items or whip or abilities or anything. There's very little castle references despite Konami owning Castlevania and where is Alucard? How about a retrain if Genesis?
3:09 I'm not gonna ignore how nasty that board was
1:37 Camula is so savage.
Is it just me or does the vampire hunter look like the first Belmont
I once tried building a Vampire deck. Watching this video kinda makes me want to try again.
Vampire Kingdom makes any card that sends a monster / trap / or spell to the grave good allowing the user to destroy things on the field. It also allows the user to send monsters from their deck to the grave yard getting more of the vampire's grave yard effects.
17:30 Noble Phantasm: Kazihkli Vey!
One thing I don’t understand about Crimson Knight Vampire Bram, the artwork depicts him in armour and having a shield, plus he’s a vampire knight. So, why does he not have any defense points? Maybe he wants to forgo defense?
I like this archetype, I need to make my own deck based on it some day
also, I think Vampire Voivode's revival effect may be based on how, in the Castlevania games, Dracula is brought back every 100 years due to humanity's inherent evil (it fits with Voivode's ability to revive if the opponent summons a monster)
Love my Vampires, thank you for this video!
Vampire archetype is so awesome to both Yugioh and Shadowverse (Bloodcraft)
My favorite Archetype! Been waiting forever for him to do this one
I like there were Vampire cards in both Ghosts from the Past sets.
Vampire decks are one of my favorite decks. I think a monster that works with the current strategy and the opponent deck milling strategy from the previous support would be nice
... so I made a Vampire deck earlier, and now I find this? Would have been really helpful, because I've never played vamps before.
Sam why were you bullying that poor DM player at 2:53. xD
The structure deck was the first one i ever got and vampire genesis has a place in my heart (even tho its not great….)
I love the vampire monsters and I always felt they were based loosely off castlevainia which is why I add certain cards to my deck to reflect this such as pilgrim reaper to represent the grim reaper
You know a friend of mine a few years ago reintroduced me to the yugioh card game. I've watched yugioh up until 5ds so I'm well aware of the game but I've never had nor played with the actual cards
That is until I met a good friend a few years ago. He showed me his collection and the decks he uses. His favorite deck was the vampire deck but since it was a few years ago, he didn't have the entire archetype. Instead he added a few other zombie cards to it to help it out. His ace monster was the red eyes zombie dragon. He explained to me that he won several tournaments with that deck so it's his go to deck
Also sidenote is it bad that I find vampire Fraulein kinda cute?
OMG i was actually waiting for this one Great video man!
Vampires made a good leap with the new support, but they're going to need some Hellsing shenanigans to be META.
Making a vampire hunter archetype that's a mix of Hellsing and the Belmonts would be super fun
8:34 i think this is the most popular card in the archetype
9:02 so in fiction having a shadow counts as having a soul? wonder if there will be a day a fiction work compares vampires with holograms, that don't cast a shadow either
The older cards that connect to the newer archetype members are a nice touch to this video
Also to note that vampire Frauline That the frauline part of her name is german for lady or woman which
Still waiting for that playmarker profile video
I was just rewatching your video about paradox vs yugi/jadien/yusi......and it got me thinking that it would be great to see the main characters from all the series do something together. Either a battle royal or some of them corrupted by evil and the others have to beat them to set them free. So we can see all of there dueling types be used.
Loved the video but you missed some cards. Like vampire koala, vampire baby (red moon bay), and vampire orchis. Plus an honorable mention with Patrician of Darkness.
11:32 there is just a shadow of his armor!
1:50 It looked like whatever took her soul had a personal issue against her cause gawd damn, he almost took her neck along with the soul
I think vampire sorceress in vampire takeover is genuine a spellcasting vampire/zombie, she just standing like elemental hero captain gold in the top of lightning rod of a building.
I can't decide on which Archetype video should come next; the Thunder Dragons or The Gravekeepers?
I think one of the vampires in Camulla's flashback looked like the Tanya, the Shadowrider that came after her.
Vampire Retainer looks like Monokuma from the Danganronpa series.
