    Researching far too much for the perfect keywords/title/price 🙈takes me forever to list STILL! I also measure as I list rather than photographing with the tape in the picture for the clothes…… I’m just not sure why it all takes me so long 😂

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 года назад +6

      With your title keep them very systematic. If you watch the video I will link here, I give you a chart in the video that you can screen shot as reference and it will help you write a great title. Once you get used to it, you will just start writing your titles in this way without even having to think about them. I would suggest using the tape and taking those photos as you go rather than measuring as you list. You can either take the photos of the measuring tape (I do it that way) or some people use a little whiteboard and record the measurements and then include that as a photo in their listing. In regards to price, most of what your listing is probably bread and butter items so you don't want to spend too long on items under $50. Find something similar and set your price. You can always put offers on it also if you're worried you priced too high. I only will spend a bit longer researching if my items are about $80+. Otherwise I make that educated decision fast looking at similar items that have sold. If you're reselling a lot of clothes, you probably know what are the basic mall brands. Don't spend too long on pricing these.. price them to sell and move onto the next one :)

    My usual process is: Buy stuff. Leave stuff in a different room for ages. Eventually find stuff again and decide to take a few pictures. Research stuff on eBay to check prices. Buy more stuff and get distracted looking at that. Find pictures on phone a few days later of original stuff. Research again. Decide to sell similar. Drop pictures in but forget what condition stuff was in so leave as draft. Few days later finally check condition again and either list or get rid of it as it’s rubbish and I didn’t check it properly when I bought it.
    I think my process is spot on to be honest, can’t see any problems. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I love your videos they have so much information. I'm in the US and just started E-bay reselling. I'm going to try this method with the New DVD's that I just got I think there is over 50 of them and I've listed about 10 so far. I do work full time also and only have 1 day off a week but try and list some things every night. I also got a tub of toys that I've been sorting threw and listing those. You may think about setting up a second monitor, it's very helpful so you don't have to make your screen so tiny to look at and you can still copy and paste by moving the mouse from one screen to the next. Keep up the great videos!

    Thank you for a great video and I love your enthusiasm! I think the biggest thing you have done to increase your listing speed is only sell BOOKS! Right there you’ve eliminated so much. Now, I would love to see a Seller who sells one off, Vintage Collectibles like I do. I know that’s my choice but it’s a niche of what I am most interested in and it makes selling more fun. Imagine if you had to look up what the darn thing really is and what it’s called for a title? You have to scrape off a super sticky label or decide how to remove a marker pen used for the price? You have to not only say the item is “Used, see the photos” but enter more specifically what and where the flaws are on the vintage item or risk INAD? Ebay will side with a buyer if you have not done that. Pics are not enough. Trust me as I know from previous experience! Also, what if you now have to make sure you have a box for this item and maybe pre-box it up so it doesn’t sustain any damage while being stored in your inventory. None of my breakable items are stackable like books are. You don’t mention using a SKU or how you note where your item is stored so you can find it when it sells. These are the things I deal with and I would love some help from an experienced Reseller on how to streamline these processes for me.

    I sell stamps on ebay.
    I start with sell similar from any one of my listed items.
    Then continue that from one listing to the next just changing pix, title, country and some specifics and price. All else stays the same.
    Title format is same for each (country, year date, word stamp, catalog number and a couple word description of what the stamp is about)
    I already know the price before each listing.
    I usually just do the required specifics.
    I'm pretty smooth but takes about 5 minutes for each and can't find a way to go faster.

      I sell books as well and I'm finding prices have definitely gone up. I try to be more discerning in the books I buy, so I know I can make a profit. I always take my phone with me and do a search for the item on ebay and on the net, to see how much the book is selling for, and how many are out there for sale. I do keep my eye on Facebook Marketplace, but I find prices are generally higher.
      I have 7 or 8 op shops/tip shops I visit around once a fortnight, and I usually find some good stuff. Mind you I have a spare room that is almost full of books I need to list! Each photo takes approx 30 seconds to load into memory, then they get cropped and put into a folder. I then use sell similar and create the listing. I think creating more batching processes and improving methods for sure would be more productive. Also inspecting and testing of items needs to be more organised because on occasions I can end up checking something 2 or 3 times if it's left hanging around for long periods of time, where there's been a problem with it.

      No, I feel like I also need breaks from looking at the phone. And my eye sight has gone bad, I'm waiting for reading glasses to arrive now. Sell similar is great on clothing, especially for the regular mall brands we get all the time.

      Mess is a HUGE killer of productivity and makes it so hard to get a system and flow in place. If you could try and have at least three clear areas it would help a lot. Your photography area, your shipping area and your desk. Work on organising these stations first and you will see a rise in productivity!

    Hey Mel, thanks for the upload. I like that you take a ton of photos of each book, prep does help a lot when listing. However I did notice in your description you mention "pet-free, smoke-free". Now that might be true for you, but all your books are purchased used... so it would be naturally impossible to know if they were "pet-free, smoke-free" before you got them.

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 года назад +2

      Yes I do say that (and I do have pets but they are not allowed in my eBay stock room or storage sheds). It is a bit of a grey area I guess. But I don’t sell items with animal hair on them and I’m careful of strong smelling books. I won’t buy them if they smell like smoke. Occasionally if I sell a book that has a strong book odour I will add that to a listing as an extra. I’ll write something like slight odour noted. I also have bowls of vinegar all around my stock room. You might sometimes notice them down low on/near shelves in my videos and wonder what they are lol. But vinegar helps to draw out any odours. I have heaps of vinegar bowls hidden everywhere I won’t knock them over ha ha. So I do everything I can not to send anything that would smell like that. My entire family is smoke free and I would pass on books that smelt like it. I once picked up a haul on Facebook for free and they reeked off smoke. They never even made it into my shed I just redonated them.

    Yeah ok.... i heard you... My process is .. Find item in ebay using phone (with barcode?), most of tthe time u can 'sell similar', I then take photos with the app and store them (as my wifi works lol), (the app multitasks so u can carry on and do other things) ... exit listing (dont need to press Save Draft).
    When u done enough Drafts, return to your Mac, go to Drafts... open one of them, i goto 'Apple notes' on the desktop where I keep a customised HTML template, I select and press Cmd-A (Select all) and then Cmd-C (Copy), back to Chrome (click or Cmd-Tab), then scroll down to Description Box, change to HTML and press Cmd-A (Select All) and then Cmd-V (Paste). Now you got to sort out bad title, so two-finger scroll to top with touchpad (or Fn-Left), select title (Cmd-A) and (Cmd-C), scroll back down to Description and then Shift-Click Start of Title, then Shift Click End of Title so you just Select the Title and any following lines that need to be replaced, press Cmd-V to change the title.
    Now that you have a titlr in memory, move down into decription and where you describe the photo, over-write the mesage as you this with (Cmd-Shift-V) Paste without formatting.
    Next change from Auction to BIN, you should see a Price suggestion box appear which allows you to reasearch your pricing models. Chose one of change the searcg .. after that i dive into Postage Polcies and fix the deal.
    I remove any Additional Keywords, just leave the reconmded and essential ones. Then I go LIVE. This can take around 1-2 minutes on the phone.... but around 1-2 mins on the Mac fixing it up

    I am still typing out condition like creased pages, spine crease, etc. I get good feedback based on my descriptions, but it does take time and I am taking pictures of all angles and features of the books. Have you continued to get positive feedback on descriptions? I need encouragement to stop doing all this writing.

    • @backfromburnout
      @backfromburnout  3 года назад +1

      I have good feedback and I rarely ever get asked for a return. I show lots of photos always. At minimum, front, back, all sides and I also try and show the reference page now inside. If the book is illustrated in any way I also show a few photos inside. I’ll show close ups of any noteable damage also (like ripped corner of dust jacket). It takes me two secs to snap an extra photo but it’s time consuming writing in depth descriptions and from my experience no one has ever asked for anything more then I give. I also grade my books as only good or acceptable. That helps allow for any little flaws. Writing in my description box “please see photos for condition” will also help me if I ever need to appeal anything with eBay.
