I was out of the continental U.S. for over 20 years, from 1992-2013. When I came back I went to a restaurant and the server was 250 lbs. and the lady bartender looked like her twin sister. That NEVER existed back in 1992 but now it's commonplace.

Amen. The bar for having any self-respect is nonexistent. I'm so sick of seeing ads, movies, models not up to a standard. And this so called shaming is ridiculous. It's not shaming... It's telling someone to reassess their appearance, outfit, makeup, weight, etc., to avoid negative attention. Don't flaunt it if you don't have it. There is no consideration for other people's line of vision. Why is society glorifying the unsightly?
Recently had an employee (now former employee) who refused to have his pants on correctly. He was a total dirty gross mess n saw nothing wrong with it...n we worked in a restaurant. 😮

I once had a neighbor couple who were sort of lacking in the looks department, but had the prettiest daughters. Just shows that you never know about the roll of the genetic dice.

My dad had a neighbor who usually plays Mexican bikers in the movies. He makes Danny Trejo look like Tom Cruise and he's about a foot taller. He has four gorgeous sisters.
So true, and some gorgeous couples end up with a very average or homely looking kid. It can go either way.
I was born with unfortunate genes, but I will try hard to work with what I've got to improve upon it. It makes a difference. I get better service in a restaurant, people open up to me more, I get more smiles from others than those days when I just can't be bothered. I don't understand this desire too many have to uglify themselves with facial piercings and tattoos and stupid haircuts.

I try to compliment women who dress well even if I don't know them - dressing up should be encouraged. It brings a smile to people's hearts or at least it should. My sweetheart wears heels to Walmart and we hold hands. People used to do things like that back when they were happy and had self-respect.

I was about 4 years old when I asked my mom to write the words pretty and ugly for me. I then labeled her high school yearbook's photos. She cursed me with "I hope you have kids just like you." My son destroyed everything, no exaggeration.

Why am I getting dressed up for the airport? TSA makes you take off your shoes and then shows off your junk in the x-ray machine. If you're lucky, TSA will feel you up.

I never understood why ladies wore cotton gloves when they went outside, as just a part of outside attire, like a jacket or hat. Mom said It was to keep hands clean & soft. Covered hands kept the moisture of your hand cream on longer & kept your hands clean from public places and kept hands looking younger. I thought that was pretentious & germ paranoia. But I can't deny it was stylish and classy too.

I worked with a 20 year old from the Phillipines. She found out i was 10 years older but looked her age. I told her we are being preserved by the preservatives in our food. The look on her face was PRICELESS and all I saw her eating was salads after that 😂😂😂

Could be good genes too. I have family members who lived to be between 90-100. My great great grandmother lived to be over 100. I generally have people compare me to college teens or young adults in their early 20s despite me being in my late 20s. So I think its just genetics to be honest. When the correct people come together they may create the most beautiful children. That doesnt mean they are necessarily good people though. Just look at most of the thots on tick tock trying to make men look bad.

I know it was literally lettuce and tomatoes in the bowl lol her and the other employees from the Philippines all looked much older. I've also been smoking since I was 16 so didn't understand how they look as old as they do. Then realized they eat alot of organic food. One lady I worked with from Afghanistan made me some beans and I've never had ANYTHING like it since then. I was pregnant and she wanted to nourish my baby. She was such a sweetheart and hard worker. She almost passed out one day because she hadn't had any water, due to her religion, and it was a really hot, humid day. She had to go home and I never got to see her again

I don't think people are becoming less attractive. If anything they should be getting *more* attractive due tobetter health conditions, beauty standards and access to tools and knowledge to make yourself more appealing. I think the problem is two fold. One one end you have a ridiculous plastic beauty standard where young women stick themselves full of various fillers, implants and expensive bogus treatments which only make them look unnatural and unhealthy. On the other you have the third wave feminist brigades who don't try at all because they are special, wonderful and beautiful as they are and you're getting stabbed if you disagree.

Personally, I think there are avenues pushing women to look more masculine and guys to look more feminine. Make everybody neutral and you can choose what you identify with every day. It's been showing up in popular video games the past few years like Fall Guys and Among Us. Basically gender neutral and you, as the player, choose to dress up your character as to how you feel that day. I think it'll become the mainstream in most video games moving forward.

Living in a city like New York is actually scary for feminine women. If a woman walks down the street in a dress or with makeup on and her hair looking beautiful, she could be put in danger by a lot of weird guys who follow, stalk, harass and attack women for not acknowledging them. I find myself covering up and wearing pants, baggy clothes, etc even when it’s hot out to avoid street harassment in NYC. And guys don’t do anything to protect women anymore. They just ignore it. It’s sad.

An alternative theory: what if it’s more that cameras have gotten better and better? In every picture today, we can see fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation irregularities, acne scars, etc.
We all know how lighting can completely change a picture. I think the old yearbook photos look better because the cameras didn’t capture as much detail. Nowadays we all have incredibly powerful cameras on our phones that we can never put down.

Wow, I so agree. Kat, all wrong. I recently took a retirement part time job at my neighborhood market and have so many compliments on my attire and grooming. Men are also saying "it's refreshing to see a man come to work in a starched shirt, etc. I'm 77 and was raised by a mother that tought me what women REALLY like.

I've noticed the change in peoples looks. I recently showed my granddaughter my 1966 Jr. High School group graduation photo of about 125 students. She immediately commented on how except for a few chubbys everyone was fit and trim. She then said they look different from today's students. That's when I noticed it too. There's has been a change in physical appearance over the decades.
Got the same reaction from my kids when I showed them my early 1980's year books.
I got out in ‘82 and there was only about 6 kids that were obese, total student count was around 1400

Teens growing up today... are miserable because they have no proper discipline and made to believe that they should do the things they shouldnt do or end up miserable. Teaching the kids to use their emotion as their moral compass. Thats why they will believe what they believe according to what they feel... if only it isnt the recipe for emotional breakdown beyond repair if they are not so lucky!
