They hate Sasuke for actually doing something about the problem and wanting to not only end that violence, but eventually end all violence (Like Pain & Madara, but unlike them, in the real world).

Haha, of course it makes sense, I can tell because I'm just like him, dealt with depression from early age, dealt with loss, regret and family problems, my love life did not go as planned, and at some point in time I recognized true love as "a dream". My life has been closely tied to both Kakashi and Obito, and now at age 27 I play god damn AVNs more than I would like, and there are some good ones with deep stories and well written characters that can be better than most anime.

My personal belief was that upon losing his friends and family before he really had a chance to actually build those meaningful connections Kakashi never really learned how to socialize properly or have friends and loved ones that you can connect with so he reads these novels as a way to fight the loneliness he feels kind of like how some people draw happiness from seeing their favorite characters in relationships because they themselves aren't in one. And then my best guess is that he ended up really liking the series and jiraiya's writing to the point where he kept reading even after he had somewhat filled those holes in his life. I imagine that Kakashi didn't start this addiction with jiraiya's books it was most likely that he started with a different and eventually came to really enjoy the series
A couple things to add on are that not only was kakashi extremely young when his dad ended his own life, kakashi was the one who found his body The haircut point is a GREAT one and we see this in other parts of the series such as when Sakura cuts her hair in part 1

I think that while all Ninja's seem to struggle with emotional vulnerability or vulnerability of any kind, it particularly true for Kakashi because of his past experiences of loss. The make out books don't just serve as a distraction or as escapism, but could potentially provide a 'safe' place for him to experience intimacy or closeness as the outcome is is predetermined already and has nothing to do with his actions / potential failure. I'm pretty sure most people already know that the Sannin werent in their prime back then. And Six doesnt imply that they were, but they were absolutely still considered strong shinobi. Minato stated that the Sannin's name paled in comparison to the White Fang which sorta implies that he'd be stronger than the 3 of them together from back then(considering that's how they've earned that name). Of course we can't really confirm either or, considering Sakumo could've simply been a stealth type shinobi who had a legendary Mission completion rate.

We know that the contents of missions are classified, especially a mission so hard Sakumo would give up. The very fact that the information about his mission got leaked is sign that it was Hiruzen or Danzo who leaked it. So it was just a scheme to destroy Sakumo's reputation and kill any chance of becoming hokage, because he had the best reputation in the village, but isn't related to the lineage of hokages (a very big trend is that only descendents and disciples of previous kage become kage).
My headcanon is there are multiple layers of codes on those books. The Pain message demonstrates Jiraya is very so inclined to encrypt stuff in his works Ninja secrets, trade secrets, village gossip. The weirdest part of this is the absolute lack of interest kakashi has in women. You could say perhaps him and Guy are sus but it's clear in contrast that Kakashi likes women through his choice in smut. I would say guilt also plays into this, that Kakashi feels he wouldn't be a good partner and chooses to focus on his job instead. Perhaps reading porn in public is also part of his tactic to make women leave him alone. If it wasn't for the smut I'd simply say Kakashi is most likely gay or asexual based on his behavior, instead you look at kakashi and have to deduce the guy simply harbors too much self resentment to let anybody in and the fact that this is never resolved is particularly sad.

Kakashi had nameless, faceless ninja to blame for his life being ruined, many of which he murdered in his Anbu days to stop the anger and depression from consuming him.
Sasuke had 4 or 5 Konoha faces he could directly point to for ruining his life. One of them was once the closest person in his life and viewed as a huge criminal to the Konoha in Itachi. Itachi then came back after Sasuke was finally starting to put his life goal to the side for friendship and cucked the guy who was supposed to make him stronger (Kakashi), came after his closest friend (Naruto) and made Sasuke XP all of his life's suffering all over again, reminding him that Itachi could come and kill his new family any time he wanted like he did his old family if Sasuke didn't become strong enough to stop him...also higlighting Konoha's best wasn't gonna make him strong enough and no one could even stop Itachi.
They hate Sasuke for actually doing something about the problem and wanting to not only end that violence, but eventually end all violence (Like Pain & Madara, but unlike them, in the real world).

Haha, of course it makes sense, I can tell because I'm just like him, dealt with depression from early age, dealt with loss, regret and family problems, my love life did not go as planned, and at some point in time I recognized true love as "a dream". My life has been closely tied to both Kakashi and Obito, and now at age 27 I play god damn AVNs more than I would like, and there are some good ones with deep stories and well written characters that can be better than most anime.

Honestly I thought one reason listed would’ve been Jiraiya sort of having a similar hairstyle and even title as Sakumo. Like Kakashi just walked into a store a saw a guy who had his dad’s haircut and decided to read his book. But I guess that’s not all that likely. Good video.
My personal belief was that upon losing his friends and family before he really had a chance to actually build those meaningful connections Kakashi never really learned how to socialize properly or have friends and loved ones that you can connect with so he reads these novels as a way to fight the loneliness he feels kind of like how some people draw happiness from seeing their favorite characters in relationships because they themselves aren't in one. And then my best guess is that he ended up really liking the series and jiraiya's writing to the point where he kept reading even after he had somewhat filled those holes in his life. I imagine that Kakashi didn't start this addiction with jiraiya's books it was most likely that he started with a different and eventually came to really enjoy the series

I think that while all Ninja's seem to struggle with emotional vulnerability or vulnerability of any kind, it particularly true for Kakashi because of his past experiences of loss. The make out books don't just serve as a distraction or as escapism, but could potentially provide a 'safe' place for him to experience intimacy or closeness as the outcome is is predetermined already and has nothing to do with his actions / potential failure. The books are erotic so inherently depicts characters in vulnerable situations (emotionally and / or physically), but unlike his real life, the vulnerability in the book wouldn't force him to confront his trauma with loss and powerlessness ... It's fiction so everything will be alright, right? It's only fiction after all. My personal theory is that it's a kind of therapy and substitute for human closeness that I don't think he'd want to experience in real life because of his trauma.

I'm pretty sure most people already know that the Sannin werent in their prime back then. And Six doesnt imply that they were, but they were absolutely still considered strong shinobi.
Minato stated that the Sannin's name paled in comparison to the White Fang which sorta implies that he'd be stronger than the 3 of them together from back then(considering that's how they've earned that name). Of course we can't really confirm either or, considering Sakumo could've simply been a stealth type shinobi who had a legendary Mission completion rate.

He was also being super vague and lying a lot when he first met team 7. Excellent video on Kakashi, but I want to correct something about Sakumo. He wasn't eaten up by guilt, he was eaten up by betrayal. We know that the contents of missions are classified, especially a mission so hard Sakumo would give up. The very fact that the information about his mission got leaked is sign that it was Hiruzen or Danzo who leaked it. So it was just a scheme to destroy Sakumo's reputation and kill any chance of becoming hokage, because he had the best reputation in the village, but isn't related to the lineage of hokages (a very big trend is that only descendents and disciples of previous kage become kage).
Then it was most likely Danzo, he was very thirsty to be Hokage under any means.

It isn't just an escape. His depression would effect his brain chemistry, limiting the activity of dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, and oxytocin. The eroticism will release these neurotransmitters into the brain, the "happy" hormones, the same way sex and romantic love would.
