Brenda, you so effortlessly untangle the confusing and very powerful features of photopills. Your videos are by far the most concise and easiest to digest on this subject. I find the app much more valuable having been tutored by you and I am so thankful you were able to take the time to make these tutorials.
Purchased the app then came straight to these vids. I would never have known how to use the features of the app without your knowledge being passed on. Easy to follow and clear explanations make the vids a joy to watch. Thank you, Brenda!!
the commercial for insurance where the guy, and girl are on the uni-cycle/electric the guy ends up in the river. but it's the same place you put your red dot for the photo of the moon, and Statue of Liberty. great class
Brenda, that was a clever and efficient use of the Ebbinghaus Illusion to demonstrate that context strongly affects our perception of scale, giving the viewer the illusion they understand the situation without expending several more minutes of video explaining the geometry of perspective. The layering of illusions made me smile; another great, and useful tutorial.
This is very cool! It was an enigma to me, but now makes perfect sense. So those photos of a giant moon could be done with a telephoto...I thought they were probably just photo shopped. This series has been so interesting! I have fallen behind waiting for a time when I could really pay attention. I'm so glad I can go back and watch them a few times!
I always love your videos and the way you make them clear and easy to understand.. thank you for taking on PhotoPills because I’ve heard so many things I never knew the app can do. One question I do have is what millimeter lenses are you using to achieve these large moons at those distances? As always I look forward to your next videos😎
Hi Dean - I'm glad they are helping you out! Check out Episode 6 - I go over how to figure out what focal length to use for a given composition. That said, generally to be far enough away from your subject to get the moon to appear big relative to the subject, then you likely will be zooming in around 300-600mm.
I ran a quick image search expecting to find several examples of the shot you used here as a planning example and was surprised to find none. The geometry all comes together again at 17:42 on 28 Oct 2020. Weather of course remains as always the wild card. Have you found any examples where it all came together for someone?
It's a rare one! The closest images I could find are: www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/silhouette-basalt-rock-formations-troll-toes-1503119081 and www.rent.is/camperstories/10-days-around-iceland-a-beautiful-trip/
Outdoor Photography School The shot with the moon between the rocks and reflected on the water I came upon in my search. Both images were taken from the beach, much closer to the rocks. Your shot would be very dramatic. One more reason to visit Iceland.

@@desertlover5027 You're welcome. That was the problem with mine (shooting distance) so maybe it will work for you also. Slow down and enjoy the simple things, Life's really short.
@@outdoorphotographyschool7366 Thanks for the swift response, however I have failed at loading the plan to Android and to my Ipad. Just not happening. I did unzip the file first, in case you were wondering! i have been at it on and off for 24 hours! Time to move on! Exasperating, but not mission critical. The tutorials you have put together are so bloody good, I am making great strides forward! Really grateful to you, thanks.
Brenda, when you have finished making a move on the planner you always say now just press "done." Note 5:29 I dont see a "done" option to press....am I doing something wrong that I dont see it... or do I have an older version of Photo Pills?

I completely agree. Brenda's tutorials are the best, straightforward and very well understandable. Above all I appreciate her concrete examples.
I second that
Wow, thank you, Jeff! I really appreciate that. It's been a fun project.
Thanks so much, Rolf! I'm really glad they are easy to understand and follow.

Thanks a lot. I never knew about this feature. I always asked myself how to get the moon to look bigger. Greetings from Germany
Guten Tag! :)
Have you tried using a 500mm lens along with these tips/ Anyone?
I didn't know that, thanks.
You bet!

Look at the top right of the screen.. "Done" in light blue letters
How can I visualise what a 20m moon will look like at 2000m from a planner?
Oh My Gosh! Did you listen to yourself prior to posting?
I'm not sure what you mean....
