This is pure NOSTALGIA! Anyone else here after forgetting about these guys for 5+ years? (8 for me). I used to listen to this stuff every day when I went skateboarding! Man do I miss being a teenager and feel like I'm getting old. At least I don't think 28 is *"old"* ?? .. 🤷♂️ 😝🤘
I mean... I'm 29 and I dont think we were listening to this specifically as teens lmao. But by god if I dont feel that. Fuck I wish I still had the reflexes to skateboard.
@Eric Gerwatowski original woe is me is by far the best sounding, by far. I couldn't get into Issues either, just super generic + Tyler and Michael that's it.
I don't care what the song is about. I just pretend it's about something else. I give songs my own meaning. And the emotion they use for these songs sends chills down my whole body. This is the best shit I've heard from any heavy band since just about ever. And don't abuse the cake. I wouldn't mind taking a slice.
OKAY this song DOES NOT sound like Periphery except for the beginning. If you idiots listen past the beginning you will see this song sounds nothing like a periphery song. And it's obviously not a steal. Yes they sound similar. so what.
kristin pierce Well nothing's really ever new under the sun. Of course one thing will sound similar to something else. I doubt that this is copyright infringement, that's a bit of a stretch. If it was I'm sure it would have already been addressed.
i seen woe as me last night supporting pierce the veil and at the start of this the whole crowd(around 200 people)sat down and when they screamed GET UP we all got up at once and started jumping around and moshing best thing ever :)
Lyrically this aged like bacon and goat milk in a boot during a Dubai summer, but really unfortunate how right this band ended up being and how gross the drama from Tyler's side really was. Dude came out of the closet so he could throw his old band mates here under the bus for an unrelated pre-breakdown "burn" on him on top of all the other snake moves.
You know its kind of funny... If you listen to their first album, then the Fame>Demise single, then their Katy Perry and Ke$ha cover plus Vengeance.. And then the release of this album you can really see how they kind of toned down each time. Toned like the originality was slowly falling apart. Just in my opinion of course. I love this band.. Seriously one of my most favorites of all time and i respect them all the way to their last push for a new Woe, Is Me. I'm more than sad about how they were all really torn from each other.. Fame>Demise was their point where they were about to make something incredible. Could you imagine a full album of the style from that song? It would have been perfect. I'll miss Woe, Is Me. But they will forever be on my top songs playlist
BuLLeT2431 Yeah they gradually got worse and less creative as the band went on. Once their original lead guitarist left it was all downhill from there. The American Dream EP was a step in the right direction though, too bad they broke up soon after
Especially their drummer listen to him in this song and compare it to him in [&]Delinquents or Fame>Demise, he had some serious skills and wrote really fun fast drum parts which you could tell were influenced from his past being in a post-hardcore band. As soon as Tyler left the band I feel like they aimed for a more generic metalcore chugga chug sound and alongside that the drumming felt forcibly simplified to accommodate the slow heaviness. It worked well in their cover of Last Friday Night but after that what the hell happened to all that skill and those bell sounds. He was the king bell cymbal fills. Completely agree with you Fame>Demise was their point to make something incredible.
Chi-Yin and William: chilliam00 I really hate to admit it bro but austins drumming wasnt necessarily all his own. If you listen to his live performances you could tell he wasnt a very skilled drummer. Getting off time, missing fills, very sloppy fills. But i absolutely agree the drumming portrayed at the time was really fucking cool and went extremely well with the music woe was putting out. I just feel that the drums produced had a lot to do with the people that were producing the music. I feel like cameron mizell sat down and through some drums together but it turned out to sound very good and compliment the music well. lol i only say these things about austin because im a drummer ive come to not like that dude seeing as he was the problem and big reason that tyler and everyone left plus watching him play his OWN songs is just embarrassing sometimes.. Genesis was pretty good in that it was heavy but they just tossed in these generic pop punk chorus which were never woe is me to begin with and thats what made my butt hurt. I still jam the album none the less to this day but NUMBERS and the potential they had after Fame>Demise is easily something nothing can compare to. Great band but tragic story. (btw idc what anyone says the break down for last friday night was one of the sickest things ive ever heard)
Tyler Carter of Issues used to be in this band, but he left for several reasons, including because they were hooked on cocaine and he didn't want to be a part of that, and this song is dissing him. They took cheapshots on him and that's why people dislike them. If you want to hear the response to this song by Issues, look up King Of Amarillo.
Despite whatever they may or may not have done, because I'm sure that both sides exaggerated about what happened, because that's normally what happens when a band breaks up, they still sound good and I like them more than Issues.
Great era of Woe. I think Genesis was more of honest record than Number[s]. Numbers was more of an angsty poetic scene kid anthem and this was more of an honest mature emotional one, which the lyrics feel real.
Every comment in a nutshell: "Woe, Was Me"; "Stole from Icarus Lives", "Is it just me or...Issues/Periphery", "Tyler>Hance"; "Issues>WIM" LOL come on it's 2014
I like this song, and I like Issues... Don't understand the hate, It's their fight not our fight. Listen to whatever you like, doesnt make a difference of who we are as humans
The irony in this is that a generic band is calling out a unique band for being generic, and if this band "doesn't give a fuck" like they said in this song then why the hell did they write this in the first place? This song is so ironic and I love it lol, and this band is broken up now I hear so who really had the last laugh? Lol
Dis band so generic liek issues is def not generic and like generic and how ironic iz dat?! I dnt evn noe tha meaning of generik but im jus going 2 say et cuz ima hop on tha bandwagon of generic!!!!
i like this periphery and volumes.... i listen to them all... and i honestly like this album by woe, is me the most out of all of their albums ever too!
Woe Is Me was good before Tyler left. After that, it was pretty clear that Austin Thornton was the reason for the band essentially falling apart to the point that they only had 2 original members and only wrote revenge songs. Pretty pathetic really since their first CD was actually really good. In comparison, this one was utter shit.
I know, I mean I respect his decision because his new stuff is what he'd rather do but Volumes was really starting to get recognized and it was a mistake leaving
+OmgItsXeno Michael Barr didn't leave he got kicked out. He was bailing out on tour dates to work on his own music instead. Not that it's a bad thing, volumes still has Gus and his vocals can be pretty dirty. As for Barr, I support him with whatever he does. I've been a fan of volumes since the concept of dreaming ep
The original line up of WIM was absolutely incredible. After Micheal and Tyler left I kind of lost interest. Genesis was okay. I just feel like WIM was at it's prime during Numbers. No, my opinion is not based off of the fact that I am a "Tyler Carter" fanboy because that's the last thing I'd ever be. I feel like Issues put out better music, and King of Amarillo was surely a better diss song than this.
I love the feud between Issues and Woe, Is Me. To me, we all benefit from it. They will keep trying to constantly one-up each other by producing more and more music, and as long as it's steadily good, the mass populace will benefit from both.
Old Woe is Me was great. They stood out and kicked major ass in every way! New WIM has there kick ass songs just not as consistent. Same for Issues. Truth is, both bands are not showing the same amount of creativity as WIM originally did, and they never will. I love them both and have up-most respect for both bands. Carter did the right thing to follow his heart rather than fame, and WIM decided to stay together even when shit got ugly. Why do we have to choose sides? IM HERE FOR THE MUSIC!!
"You knew we'd never stop"
*Breaks up*
Haha. That's the truth.
TRN Mittens Issues sucks. literarly. nasty ish! lol
Yep, because they got rid of the toxicity in the band.
"We'll see who's laughing last." Now the most ironic lyric ever hahaha
Good one you should be a comedian
Who is laughing last now.
My favorite comment. #Issues
That comment didn't age well lol
issues is cringe tho. any single woe is me song with Austin is worth more than every single issues song put together.
Tyler carter really rustled this bands jimmies.
I like how they had to talk shit about him being gay... XD
+Eric Mendoza they did? cuz he is bi not gay
***** i dont care if u dont care, eric stated they talked shit about him being gay, im saying that he isn't gay, he is bisexual, im stating facts.
***** well theres a pretty big difference, gay means u like guys, bi means u like guys and girls.

Change the speed to 1.25 for Icarus Lives

OffLeatherWings always thought that about the opening riff. It's a great song by Woe, Is Me. I'll always love it.

Anddddd they’re back!
For real. I’m 30 and heard these guys and was like oh shit! I remember them
"i don't use my past to make me feel relevant"
uses past references throughout this entire track.

I still crank Woe Is Me with Tyler all the time, but I really like a lot of this record!
I love their intense, aggressive sound. I'm addicted!
Are people really complaining about this song? I'm sorry, but it is one of the BEST WIM songs ever.

EPIC KEY CHANGE!
Michael, Corey, and Ben walking into the reunion like "So, that was awkward"
Very cool effects! Great work! The after effects project of this clip is available for download? ...would be a great gift ;)
I guess the joke's on them...Issues is still a band.

Lol it doesn't matter what the rest of the song sounds like. The intro was borderline music copyright infringement. That's horrible on it's own.
