Workers were there, but you can't express any of that to the conveyor belt window, and if you have to go inside to ask for help, how much attention will they be offering to you? Hopefully they put options for all the extras in the app, as there's been plenty of times I've gotten home and found no napkins, no straw, no spoon...
People not eating in the restaurant means less waste they have to deal with and pay for to dispose of, the trash gets taken home with the customers. Also the store makes more money on drinks with people not getting refills. And the more automated the store becomes, the less people it needs and cuts down on all the expenses that go with employees, like here in California where minimum wage for fast food is $20 hr.
The future of fast food will be all robotic food prep - there are numerous restaurants already using food prep robots mixed with a few humans. Whan customers get used to it, the humans will go away.
Fast food will be a thing of the pass n just a few years do to the price. Why pay the price for food that isn't good when you can get good food for the same price?

In California @ $20 an hour for the cashier we have to find a way to cut costs and this makes sense. Less $20 an hour workers means prices can be kept from the sharp increase.
if they make a business pay $20 per hour then the employee needs to do more work for that money. More pay more work. So because of that just cut the employees in half, then they will be doing twice the amount of work. It makes it more efficient for the company and makes the cost stay the same for the owner. Also another thing to do is cut the menu down to the best selling 10-12 items. I did this at my restaurant chain and my profit went 6 times higher. Yes my sales went down a little but my profit went up 6 times. So in the end all that matters is the profit amount.

I’ve been there. Ordered a regular order through the DT, using a discount code from the mobile app. It took a tad bit longer than average, but was good, for what it is. I’ve become accustomed to using the mobile app for every restaurant, and typically order ahead of time. Especially Popeyes and Whataburger, as they take forever.
It used to annoy me to have to sign in and download an app. But now every freebie is digital so it forced me to adjust. So I have adapted and will admit it’s easier, and faster, to order ahead through the app. Jack in the box, too, they’re so short handed at all times.
If they would return to a more nostalgic building design and the old logo/arches, and package it in some "roots advertising" I think it would be awesome for Micky D's.
Just want to point out that this is also not in the best part of town. I’m Sure that among financial reasons for making the restaurant this way, safety of employees was also considered. I went inside myself and decided this place was built for Uber Eats and the like.

I usually use the ordering kiosks at McDonald's, mainly because i like to add and remove sauces, etc. But i do worry for some people when it comes to using more technology to order. I went to the local post office, and there was a 50-something man just staring at the self-service kiosk. I asked if he needed help, but he just needed to buy some stamps. I showed him how to use it to purchase what he wanted. But no matter how easy it is to use, there is going to be some people going to struggle.
My friend is elderly & vision impaired so I tend do anything that requires being put into a computer for him. I even use my Walmart+ so he can get grocery delivery. That thing has been a god send to both of us & well worth the half cost of it because I get the discounted rate. No more hurting like heck after taking the bus to grocery shop.
Based on a different video i saw regarding this specific McDonalds, the location is geofenced. When you get further away from the location you can get the third option that is called Order Ahead. Assuming it's working this will be the robot lane.
I absolutely love this. Everything from increased speed and accuracy to the ability to avoid people, just screams the very essence of 'fast food'. If it were any faster, it would come out of your phone. The vast majority of orders I have ever had have been incorrect. This will resolve the issue. Eventually, all of it will be modular and machines will be able to service the machines. It will just be a box that hands out food on a belt. No people means the cost should drop significantly over time as efficiency increases too. While it probably won't reduce prices, it may help to combat inflation.
"If it were any faster, it would come out of your phone" - Joke warning: The french did that - USB wine. ruclips.net/video/mNL4dnfxHIc/видео.html - did not work out. I think they had illegal downloads taking all the wine without paying.

@@FreedomAndLiberty2024 Not really. Look up 1X, the NEO - it is supposed t obe available in 205/2026. Price? The Tesla Optimus targets 20.000 USD. Even that would be 2.5 months. So no - "very expensive" is very relative, especially in the light of high minimum wage.
This is the wave of the future for sure. At least in my neck of the woods people drive in, you have mobile orders and a few walk in order and take out. Very few people stay to eat. The dining room is empty most of the time.
I'm not favorable towards people losing jobs, but I do have to say an advantage to an automated McD's would be each order is prepared fresh. They have the ability to cook fresh burgers, fresh fries, fresh nuggets, for each and every order. They wouldn't be cooking in bulk. Hot, fresh food, everytime.
I've always wondered why they didn't wall off kitchens at fast food restaurants. When in the dining room all you hear is noisy machines and people yelling. I've always thought there should be a wall blocking off the kitchen.
I'm in the minority. I like it. Quick, easy. Let them focus on making food. Safer to not have clerks handling cash having to deal with a more and more unhinged public
A few years ago there were videos on YT of a 'robot' who did just about everything in the kitchen. Grilled, assembled, wrapped, and bagged the meal you ordered. I expect eventually we will go that far. Of course the 'robot' needs someone to fill the hoppers, clean and fix it as needed. I expect right now it almost works, and most of the fast food places are looking at something like it. But I'm not looking forward to it, other than the novelty of it. I guess it would be behind a viewing glass and you could watch it work or something.
I wish they would replace all the McDonald's in commiefornia with all these automated stores. That would teach them a lesson!! It's going to happen anyway as soon as they figure out the correct setup and system!!
I think it really comes down to the location. Some locations still have dine in customers, but there are other locations where it is almost entirely takeout, delivery, and drive thru.
Now that California is forced to pay fast food workers $20 per hour, I bet these automated restaurants will crop up all over the state. Less employees will reap more profits as they don't have to staff one of these with as many employees as a regular fast food restaurant. Believe me, if they can find a way to replace the remaining skin bags with a machine, they'll do it in a heartbeat.
I like it. The food is the product. All that other extra stuff is just part of what they use to manipulate you into developing a "brand relationship" where you feel like that friendly clown can't possibly be poisoning you.
Hardware breaks, and software has bugs, especially if it's Windows or Android based. The ice cream mixer may be the lesser of the franchise owner's worries. I hope the majority of them won't fall for the corporate spin.
@@MisterMikeTexas Robots are way more reliable than human employees and the software is thoroughly tested before it's put into service. The cost of buying/leasing/installing the robots is expensive, but the operating costs are much lower, so they pay for themselves fairly quickly.

When robots bring the food out to curbside pick up. I'm Soooo going there.
But where's the Golden Arches? The restaurant looks like a plain box and even the sign outside looks dark and dull. *UGH.*
This is pretty cool. I worked at mcd's and I made the fries and sandwiches. Having something like this i might not have quit after a week. I wanted to be a cashier though and kiosk takes that job away. Though it takes away the joy of sitting inside and getting refills and the playplace for kids. It just doesn't respond and a lot of preferences are not available on the kiosk or app. Like light ice. Its either no ice or extra ice. I wonder how popular this is and how many will be changed into these.
I don't think they're going back to their roots. It's more just a testing phase to eventually go fully robotic (or have as few employees as possible in case of malfunction), particularly in places where real estate might be more limited...like food courts, city cbd locations. The only reason I'd ever go to one is if the food was cheaper as a result of going full robotic.
More like for the dummies out there that think you can demand 20 bucks an hour to flip a stupid burger.
It’s safer for the workers but it means fewer workers who are now making more money to live on.

You're a very smart man friend!! Every time I think of McDonald's food, I think of one of those obesity shows, "My 600 lb life" and some person inhaling 4 Big Mac's like someone had a gun pointed at their head. Addiction is no joke!
@@scotabot7826 McDonald's "food" is nothing but crap. It's high in salt, fats, and loaded with chemical preservatives and flavorings. When I was a long haul trucker, I used to haul some of their "food". I remember the first time I picked up a load from Tyson's. They make all of the chicken McNuggets for McDonald's. I actually got to see how those are made. I never ate another McNugget again. That was more than 20 years ago. I also stopped eating at McDonald's around the same time because I saw the news story about the McDonald's hamburger that had been sitting in a closet for more than a year but still looked like it was fresh. @@eddie_alabama7997 The problem is not isolation smh. The problem is there not being enough good people worth socializing with. Most folks are narcissists. Hopefully they put options for all the extras in the app, as there's been plenty of times I've gotten home and found no napkins, no straw, no spoon...
The app and touchscreens allow you to order extra condiments. You could always just orders condiments if you forget.
And the more homeless communities you get because there are no more jobs for people.
No. It ends up on the street😜

If McDonalds were paying their help $6.00 an hour , it will not stop AI and automation !
“I’m ok with it” no disrespect but I feel that’s halg the problem with America these days no push back (unless you count generation Z) that’s why they get everything because they complain about everything….how long before someone says “you know what!? Half the fries end up in the bag anyways, why don’t we save money putting the fries in the bottom of the bag instead of a box” similar to Apple charging 1600 for the same phone and eliminating chargers (sold separately) under the guise of being eco friendly, they all do it because we allow it.

This was incitefull. Well done on expressing 2 different viewpoints and finding validation in both. Don't see that too often.

In most (if not all) Costcos in Northern California you can now only order at the food court via the kiosks.
That’s how the one by me in Arizona is. It’s pretty nice and gets me rewards with my Costco credit card.
The mistakes that cause your order to be incorrect are still going to happen behind the scenes.
@@sharp14x If it's fully robotic, there won't be any mistakes. That is one of the biggest benefits of robots - they do exactly what they're told to do. If you order XYZ, you get XYZ.
The initial cost of buying/leasing/installing the robots is very expensive, but the operating costs are a lot lower than employees and they are much more reliable than employees. If you had fully robotic food prep, you could operate a busy location with one or two humans per shift.
@@FreedomAndLiberty2024 Not really. Look up 1X, the NEO - it is supposed t obe available in 205/2026. Price? This is the wave of the future for sure. At least in my neck of the woods people drive in, you have mobile orders and a few walk in order and take out. Very few people stay to eat. The dining room is empty most of the time.
We are headed back to the Re-berth of The Automat of 1912 for Fast Food.
I would NEVER go there ....
I wish they would replace all the McDonald's in commiefornia with all these automated stores. That would teach them a lesson!! It's going to happen anyway as soon as they figure out the correct setup and system!!

As they should. I look forward to fully robotic fast food restaurants.

What blows me away is that people eat the stuff! 🤢
I personally don't eat fast food or processed food or even junk food I stick with natural foods and drink plenty of water.
Fast food will never be the same again. And that's a sad thing.
Given the cost of labor going up this will become the norm. People can be replaced with machines.
The minimum wage in Texas has been $7.25/hr for 15 years and they still did this. It's just uninhibited corporate greed.
