I've lived in Huntington Beach since 1963, Ironically I'm now 63. I Remember my father flipping out when the 1st Arby's was built here. Great memories of my childhood with my father, mother and younger brother. We regularly visited this Arby's and I still do today. Every time I go there I visualize my father, mother and little brother there with me, who have all since passed on. Memories as fresh as the day we first went there.
That Arby's been there for a very very long time, across the street used to be the Huntington Center Mall where I got my first transformers and garbage pail kids back in the mid 80s!☺☺☺
I'll check this out. My 89 year old mom lives in Huntington Beach. And I visit every 2 weeks. We pass that Arby's every visit, because it sits across from the mall that houses her special place--Costco!
The original Arby’s is still standing, it’s now a monument store. It’s about 15 minutes from where I live. Really cool seeing what it would have looked like back in the day.
i remember that tile!. back in the 70's, arbys didnt have arbys sauce that was in the packet they where in squeeze bottles and u would get your arbys sauce that way.
I remember this particular Arby's because I grew up in Huntington Beach from 1968 to 1986 and I remember this building from 1968 and forward and I am glad it's still exists today. Unfortunately, the Huntington Center that used to be across the street from it has morphed into something quite different from a regular mall with a JCPenney, Broadway and a Montgomery Ward's in it.
live close to this and of course been there, but thank you for the history and bringing the attention that it deserves. I will make more effort to stop by more often to support and give thanks while I still can. GREAT VIDEO, thank you again.
They had an original Arbys just like this on the parkway/441 in Pigeon Forge Tenn. Ate there the last time in 2017 and the next year when i went back it was sadly gone. That store hadnt been updated since the 80s. It was pretty cool.
Cool! I saw one when visiting my brother in Florida. The name came from the founders, the Raffel brothers, RB.. Arby's. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's passionate about these original buildings and preserving them!
I have an Arby's near where I live that still has the old Ten gallon hat sign. It's a slightly modern building (about late 200's), but it STILL has the old HUGE neon light sign. It is on Piney Forest Rd, in Danville VA
East third Street Williamsport PA stull has the big hat sign. And i havnt been there in 21 years. Dollar regular sized sandwichs. Thursday college party night, a whole sack for when i cameback to the room wasted.
Huntington Beach used to be a city that middle class families like mine, could afford to live in. Now, you need to be somewhat wealthy to live there which is unfortunate because it was a wonderful place to grow up and I have many fond memories.
I know exactly where you are & been there dozens of times. There used to be another one just like that in Redondo Beach, but it got bulldozed for a mini mall back around 2008. They put a square Arby's in the mall, but it closed a while ago. Didn't know you made trips to CA, but if you're up for it, there's only TWO original Pioneer chicken places left after AFC (Popeye's) bought them out and started converting all the stores to Popeye's. Pioneer was the only really different chicken chain, as it was all beer battered and not that usual, crumbly crap you see everywhere else. It's been ages & I still miss Pioneer.
It’s ironic that you posted this video today, I go to Arby’s every year for my traditional Irish dinner of a corned beef sandwich and curly fries 😂I love their roast beef so much that I can’t eat roast beef anywhere else ❤
Well you made me want to go down there I'm half hour away. I love Huntington beach. Street taco as well. But I love the history of Arby's. There was one by my house in east LA .in the 80s. But it's gone now
Loved Arby's back in the 90's, but around 2004 was around the last time I ate at Arby's... not exactly sure what I ate, but it nearly killed me -- and haven't been back since.
The video was great. I never went there, but I'll stop by some time and check it out. Across the street from there use to be a, I think it was, triple screen drive in movie location. I think it was demo'd mid 90's. P.S. I use to love Arby's, horsey sauce and Arby's sauce with curly fries are the best!
@@SetsStreetsEats THANKS for creating & posting this...!!!!AWESOME!!!!...video. Arbys is my absolute favorite "fast-food" & their Jamocha Milkshakes are addictive. 🙂 Would ya' like ta' know "why" they chose that arched roof design for the original restaurants. ....waiting for your reply Best regards from Yucatan Mexico, Ben
This my local Arby's but i didn't know that it was an original building or that these were rare. Interesting that it's just across the parking lot from the newest In-N-Out in Orange County.
You forgot to mention Wendys once owned arbys and The current owner of Arbys now is Inspire Brands which owns, Arbys, Jimmy Johns, Dunkin Donuts , Buffalo Wild Wings, Sonic , Baskin Robbins
I worked at Arbys in the 80s in Smyrna GA Witch was built in late 60s still had the same hat was cool even same building until later Newer building same Sign and was told Arbys meant AMERICAS ROAST BEEF YES SIR LOL
Back in 88 when I was dating my first girlfriend, we ate at this Arby's. I can still see ourselves sitting at the middle table that is near the front of Arby's. Those were some good times.
I like Arby's, but the one near my office became a cell phone store, and the one nearest to where I live became a Jollibee. Now the closest is Hollywood, about 15 miles away.
This is also the Arby's where 11 years ago the "Lipstick Bail Bonds" women comically failed at trying to apprehend a "suspect" for their youtube channel. They ended up facing criminal charges and also were charged with operating a bail bond company without a license. The only negative about that location is that it can be very hard to get out of the parking lot. It is pretty admirable that the Arby's outlived Huntington Center mall across the street which had been shut down for almost 10 years before it was torn down and turned into Bella Terra shopping center.
There is an original Arby’s in Las Vegas as well. They still have the original sign of Arby’s too. You should check that out too if you are in the area. And if you like really good philly steak sandwiches there is an excellent place here in Las Vegas that I want to take you to try the Philly Steak Sandwich. The Philly steak sandwiches are as the same as out in Philadelphia. They are that good. Let me know when you come out to Las Vegas we can meet up. I want to know more about the Chuck E Chesse history too. You got me addicted to the animatronics and the history too. I have been watching your videos for some time now and I really love your channel and the content that you make. Let me know when you go out to Las Vegas so we can meet up and talk more about the CEC stuff and the history and we can go to the restaurant where they have the best Philly Steak Sandwiches in town. Have a good day.
They just closed another original one in cypress 2 years ago and another in Anaheim about 5 years ago. I dont get it....i love arbys but nobody goes anymore.
I just came across your videos. Why don't you detail the difference in the food they serve? The toasted butter bun back in the '70s is the only reason I went to them. Hasn't been as good since.
We had an original Arby’s that was built in 1968, it was located in Kingston,Pennsylvania. But the company tore it down and ever since then; the food sucks.
Hey, Chris Bower. I wonder if you were able to visit McDonald's in Hyde Park, New York, Roswell, New Mexico and Sedona, Arizona, Walt Disney's birthplace in Chicago, Illinois, the National Museum of American History in Washington DC for Entertainment Nation, Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, Georgia for Jim Henson's Muppets, Museum of the Moving Image in New York for The Jim Henson Exhibition, the two Jim Henson's Creature Shop locations in California and New York, World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Georgia, Birthplace of Pepsi in New Bern, North Carolina, The Walt Disney Family Museum and the Charles M Schultz museum, Revival Collectibles in Grand Liege, Michigan, Scarecrow Video in Seattle, Washington and Warner Bros Studios, Sony Pictures Studios and Paramount Studios in California.
Why won't they put mayo on the roster beef n chedder.... they serve them plain ...and the arb 1:30 y sauce is like horsh reddish with mariclewhip ...yuck
I'd be across the street at In-N-Out burgers instead of barf B's! Lol just joking but I do like in and out way better than Arby's! Love your vids especially when you're near my neighborhood like you are today!
How were they able to keep it original when all the others are remodeled by now? I prefer the vintage look. All these newly made restaurants have no “soul”. They all looks like office buildings or prisons

It's in Boardman OH the first Arbys ever. And I agree that Arbys should buy that building back and turn it into a historic Arbys site

Me too in Benton AR
The sign is still up in Mishawaka, Indiana. Love that sign.
This Huntington Beach location opened its doors on January 5th, 1969.
What is the name of that Facebook group you were talking about with old buildings?
Food is served hot and staff is very friendly.
That’s right down from where I work. Very nice workers in there.
I love the history the cuts to the old commercials and pictures. These videos are excellent. I hope you get more views!!
I really appreciate that, thank you for watching them!
There is an original sign in front of an Arby's in Adamsville, Alabama. Same sign still there after all these years.
There's an original Conestoga wagon style Arby's in Springfield, PA. Thanks for the interesting video!
I always thought Arby's meant America's roast beef.... YEAH!
East third Street Williamsport PA stull has the big hat sign. And i havnt been there in 21 years. Dollar regular sized sandwichs. Thursday college party night, a whole sack for when i cameback to the room wasted.
Side Note... this Arbys was in a scene in the Chips movie, 2017
That's awesome!
I have only seen 1 Arby’s that looked like that and it was when I was a kid in 1990s Delaware
Huntington Beach used to be a city that middle class families like mine, could afford to live in. Now, you need to be somewhat wealthy to live there which is unfortunate because it was a wonderful place to grow up and I have many fond memories.
Orange County as a whole is way too costly, people are paying absurd prices to live here...
I grew up in Huntington Beach. Been coming to this Arby’s since the late 1970’ s . Located beach blvd /edinger

So cool!
There's one of these old signs in Lapeer MI. Passed it yesterday
Good old Huntington Beach, they built an in n out next to Arby’s I think too
There's an original Arby's building here in Riverside, Ca too but it was changed from Arby's to Alberto's Mexican food.🌮🌯
Boardman, Ohio. Closed. First franchise, Akron, West Market, still open. Old sign long gone
Well you made me want to go down there I'm half hour away. I love Huntington beach. Street taco as well. But I love the history of Arby's. There was one by my house in east LA .in the 80s. But it's gone now
wow didn't know this Arby's is one of the original. I live near this Arby's and has been dining here from time to time. Good to know.
Where did you find the old commercials?

This is close to me. It’s been untouched since I first saw it
Ya, I’m Bolsa China and Edinger. Knew it was old but never knew the history.
There is an old McDonald’s sign on 31255 Harper Ave, St Clair Shores, MI 48082 and it still has one family crest
Wait wait wait...was that Aunt Becky from full house in that Arby's commercial?
Yep!
