Ive had trouble with my button flush system from day one. Mine is a ratchet type like the first one you demonstrated. The range of motion of my ratchet it led than 45 degrees. I think it's preventing the flush from properly working. When the chain is set short enough for the flapper to open and properly flush, then the flapper doesn't close properly and the tank leaks water into the bowl. When the chain is long enough for the flapper to close securely, i have to hold the button down until the toilet is fully flushed - releasing the button stops the water running. Should the ratchet have a greater range of motion than 45 degrees?
Problem fixed! I took the button out, took it apart and when put back together, the range of motion was far greater!!! So it seems that when installed initially, the button was not fitted together correctly.

My flush is like the first one and it wont come back when pushed down. I need help. Thank you.
Nice, but how do you unscrew the button from the top toilet lid?, Do i unscrew it till comes out without snapping or breaking it? Thanks.
Top buttons mount on the tank lid. most have a nut that holds them in place. Take off the lid and the nuts is easy to skew off.
