Great looking set-up, I really like it... but I do have a question... 4:01 the only non-recessed holes are on the front skid plate that could make first contact when approaching an object? That seems strange.

In short, you are correct. We would have much rather have recessed holes in front much like our RZR XP1000 and Turbo kits have, however Polaris removed the front mounting holes in the PRO XP and we had to come up with the front bash plate so that customers wouldn’t have to drill holes in the very thick crossmember.
The bash plate bolts directly to the UHMW panel from the underside because there is no way to access the top side of the skid when its installed. Even if we used countersunk hardware the head wouldn’t sit flush with the bash plate and would be weaker because of the smaller contact surface between the head of the bolt and the plate.
Additionally if we put the bash plate on top of the skid plate instead of underneath, you would have a flat edge that would catch on everything and want to peel the skid plate off (away) from the vehicle. It may not be the perfect solution, but we found this setup to be the lesser of the 3 evils. And again, the PRO XP is the only vehicle with this feature.
Thanks for checking out our products and I hope this helps explain our design choice!
      Happy riding.
