He's not talking about the super futuristic cars, he means more like, cars that won't age quickly.
For example, for the 2012 model year we had the sonata, and Chevy sonic. Those cars look very much their age.
Then the same year we have something like the Pagani huayra, a car that very much looks like it could come out now.
I know it doesn't seem fair for me to compare a typical car against a multi million dollar car. But, it does show the importance of designing a car for the future.
Even the mclaren f1, (aside from the old looking taillights), still has very beautiful sleek modern lines

I recommend Scott Robertson's "How to draw" book. Is a must-read for all students of design.
Maybe for some, the book goes a bit too heavy on the technical aspects of perspective, but all of his techniques (like mirroring curves in perspective, drawing arcs, etc.) are one hundred percent fundamental to know.
I don't even draw cars (yet), but that book is a must read even when you feel you're above that "absolute beginner" level, because the techniques he teaches are fundamental to drawing.

I’m new here and ignorant about a lot of what is going on. But I would say that clear pillars on a car is an attractive thing in rocket league, as it helps distinguish car positions which helps with car control and connection with the ball. Also, when people purchase cars in rocket league it’s different from real life, as such, maybe there isn’t such an emphasis on having a futuristic design. Perhaps the brief for designing a rocket league care would veer more towards something that stands out/is playable (obvious shapes)/is attention grabbing (which doesn’t necessarily mean futuristic for rocket league).

No Doubt about Volvo, but i'd love to see SAAB make a comeback into Mainstream car industries

This is fantastic feedback. With this sort of feedback, the learning curve for a designer would be dramatically increased. Very interesting videos

What do you think of the Lucid Air? It's a new EV with a lot of the design elements you mention in your videos. Maybe give it a look?

4:25 basically very honest and true advice that you probably won't hear in College. But it will get you further In any design field. The reality is that you come across many set in their ways people that want to do it the "good old way" without any innovation aka. RISK.

Once a friend that works as an engineer told me that, and i quote, "The designers work is to make the engineers sweat". Awesome video as always Frank!

Last one is great! Something like VW or PORSCHE near future. Render is perfect! Only problem maybe proportion, but I not quit sure.

I thought you will critique people's Rocket League car designs after seeing the Rocket League logo at the thumbnail. Pretty cool video anyways.

Maybe the white blob on the last model was meant to accentuate the shape of the side mirror

    Hi Frank!
    Thanks for your great videos.
I started to design cars because of your videos got me to do it. Now I'm looking thru car designs and futuristic car models. Atm I'm making a Poor-Men's-Bugatti style car.
I will send it when it's finished.
    Thx for your good content.

This is so funny this video was recommended to me. For years i wanted to go to art center college of design for transportation design. While working on my portfolio to apply I kind of lost interest. Now Im finishing my degree in Electrical Engineering instead, maybe I would have stuck with transportation design had there been motivational videos like this back then.
