Been getting up 3-5 times a night for over a decade now. Quit smoking, alcohol, eat better, don't drink after 6pm and drink a ton of water every day. Urologist just told me to go back to sleep when I wake up. Easier said than done. I've just accepted that this is my life now 😞
Prostatic artery embolization (PAE) is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure that treats an enlarged prostate. An interventional radiologist performs the procedure on an outpatient basis. Assuming it's a prostate issue, of course.
If you have high cortisol levels and high blood sugar levels, you’ll need to urinate often. Implement calming techniques during the day to regulate the nervous system. Eat a balanced diet and cut out sugars, alcohol and processed foods. Your sleep will improve.
When I was in my early 20 I would get up 8 to 10 times to pee and this was before I was able to fall asleep, I would get so angry and sometimes cry out of frustration But there were a lot of things going on in my life at the time that caused it
QUESTION.... what do you think about somebody who plays the radio real real low all night long with real relaxing music while they're trying to sleep does that hinder your sleep or does that help your sleep
I'm probably the only sleep doctor in the world that says it's OK to do something like that. It is genuinely calms your body down and helps you lower your heart rate (and thus get to sleep) then keep doing it
I have blaackout curtains and listen to healing frequecies on utube all night. I turn off the display light on phone and mute calls. I never was able to sleep in silence.
My 3-2-1 advice would be no food 3 hours before bed, no liquids 2 hours before bed and no artificial lights 1 hour before bed. You can use blue blocker glasses at least two hours before bed even better. Also, high sugar or cortisol levels disrupt sleep as well. And, don't do vigorous exercise close to bedtime. Make sure room is as dark and cool too.

Hey Doc; just discovered your channel, I’m really a fan already (partly because I have tons of sleep issues). I’m surprised in this video that you didn’t mention probably the #1 cause of nighttime urination for men, and that is enlarged prostate. This is (potentially) really serious and ought to be checked. As for me, I stop drinking ALL fluids 3-4 hours before bed, which really is key (I’m 69, BTW); If I slip and have a beer or water a few hours before, it’s with the understanding that I’ll likely be up to pee at least once. Thanks for your channel, looking forward to taking your sleep quiz on your website. Thanks a bunch !
Thanks for weighing in on that, I sort of lumped enlarged prostrate in with the section on aging but you are right it really is a separate issue. Maybe Ill do a video on just that since I had a patient deal with that recently
Great point! There is a lot of water in food (iceburg lettuce is like 95% water) so meals too close to bedtime could be making you pee (in addition, the digestion of the food can disrupt sleep)
God 8s moving forward. The end times prophecies are going to come to pass. Jesus will return for His people. Why don't you put your trust in Him today. He wants none to perish 🙏

4 times a night to pee here! Not to mention 3:30 a.m. wide awake every night. It gets old!! Never feel rested!
So sorry! Hoping for restful night ahead for you!
Consulting with a doctor just leads to pharmaceutical pushing.
Truth. My doctor wanted to put me on antidepressants when what I really needed was HRT!

Nothing promotes relaxation into restful sleep like knowing the specific horrors that will result if you fail to get sleep.
So true

Try healing frequencies on utube for your condition.
They really do help.

I'd love a video on revenge bedtime procrastination! TIA
Noted! I know a lot of people suffer from RBP (myself included sometimes I will admit)
What is that?
Could be eating a ton of veggies late in the day. They are mostly water.
That's a good point
This is just excellent. Thank you.
Hi! Thanks for watching - I'm so glad you found it helpful!
No mention of enlarged prostate as a possible reason in men?
Can't be upsetting the mentally ill can we now
I used "Aging" as a catch all to include things like benign enlarged prostate etc. Just a part of growing older unfortunately!
This is helpful. Thank you.
