    I picked up my Icon in .22 from Dan at the weekend. He did me a cracking deal including the konus scope in 6-24 and mounts. I was really impressed with the konus at that price point. Instantly impressed by the clarity. The rifle itself works really nicely and I enjoyed shooting it at the range on Sunday. I've got it primarily for rabbit work on my friends land where I didn't want to take my wooden stock rifles out and about including climbing onto the storage container roof as its a great vantage point. The magazine is excellent and everything worked smoothly. Especially after the mechanism and barrel had a couple of hundred pellets through it. Nice and accurate, for the money you can't beat it. I did add a Hogan decimeter and it's whisper quiet now. Very pleased and it was great chatting to Dan.

      Hey bud!
      It was great chatting to you as you know I could've easily done it all day. I'm glad you're enjoying the rifle they're a fantastic bit of kit aren't they and the Konus scopes are massively underrated.
      Let me know how you get on with the Icon and as mentioned any issues at all never hesitate to get in touch.

    Thanks for the review! This air rifle has it's roots in the Beeman QB series of rifles. The Beeman Chief 2, with the magazine and fill position, to be exact. Other versions are the Umarex Gauntlet with a bottle and the Barra 1100Z which has a side lever breech. This is what Crosman and Benjamin are doing these days. They contract with Kral (Benjamin) or a Chinese manufacturers (Crosman) and make a few changes to put their "Label" on it!

    The Icon is 7 lbs where the Stormrider is 5 and that's including the silencer it comes with, for less money. This thing had better be regulated to be any competition to the Stormrider.

    I got my US spec ICON in .177 in Nov 2023 and out of the box, untouched, it was shooting 8.3grn pellets at 1150PFS and it was LOUD! Tuned it way down (800FPS) to make it more accurate and backyard friendly. Great value when on sale. At full price, the Avenger is a better deal.

    Looks a bargain at that price, and using those BSA Gold Star ammo, those result's were impressive in that wind too. Great review as always Dan and thanks for sharing..

      The Goldstars are essentially rebranded FTT's and they usually shoot bloody well. It's a great little rifle for that money and definitely gives the PR900 some serious competition.

    If you can't get Daisy pellets to try no worries...the H&N Terminator gives very similar performance as far as expansion and accuracy. Both are excellent for pest control and minimizing passthroughs. Both are also better than Gamo Red Fire in my opinion not to mention more affordable as well. Really surprised by the accuracy of this budget gun.

    • @bigdansairguns83
      @bigdansairguns83  Год назад

      Hey Heath!
      I'll give the Terminators a go as I can't find the Daisy's anywhere in the UK. I'll try and get some Terminators for our next reviews.
      I need to try some Gamo pellets too.. some are meant to be very good!

    Goldstars .. very impressive ... tried em in .22 and were very good , but strangely enough , I never got round to trying them in .177 ... dunno why , I think im in the QYS fan club at the moment , though H&N have some really good pellets out there now , at one time ( but a few years back ) I wouldn't have given a dogs fart for a tin ... anyway , as far as budget guns go , yes , its a bit of a bargain .. but as far as price goes , where does " budget END , and mid price START ... id say £270 is well in the budget category though ... up to the individual I guess where the cost parameters lay ... twas a damn good review , as I've got used to expect .. think if I did buy this rifle , I'd take that sight thing off the end ..

      It's a great little shooter isn't it? The sad thing is I've heard people say that £1000+ rifles are "mid priced".
      Mid priced?!
      That still makes me wince spending £1000 on an airgun and I stock some of them!

    Imagine for a moment Crosman had put AR buffer tube compatible moulding aft and supplied the gun with a cheap AR butt. Perhaps even something that could be adjusted for length of pull? And perhaps even a cheap AR handgrip too. It wouldn't have added much to the price.

    • @bigdansairguns83
      @bigdansairguns83  Год назад +1

      Hey Clanger!
      I agree but it'd have to be a good adjustable buttpad. My only concern would be that being a budget rifle the butt may end up being wobbly like some of the Krals at which point I'd rather have a solid stock.
      If they got it right though it'd be a superb little package.

    Sorry, I'm a bit late to this party but, I've been looking for a budget pcp for some pest control work. I'd like it to be able to take a bipod, but notice this has no 6 o'clock pic rail to it.
    Would it be a relatively simple task to retro fit a pic rail to it?

      That's because with my schedule it's difficult to get time to review on top of everything else and I'd already put the review off for long enough. It's a tricky balancing act as you can't put people off for seeing us just for filming which means at times the review gets compromised a tad.

      Hey Anthony.
      Not made in America I believe it's actually based off of the Beeman Chief platform. The block is almost like for like.
      That said the Crosman trigger is better than that on the Chief by a wide margin.
