I own the gts22 as well as the nb86012 and hoka arachni6. I bought them because of back issues. I’m a senior citizen that is a walker not a runner. My opinion is the best of the three is the adrenaline followed by the new balance. The hoka is good but I don’t find it as stable as the other two. I tried the glycerin gts and found that I didn’t have as much feeling of the walking surface as the adrenaline.

That's great feedback and makes perfect sense. The Hoka is higher stack (more foam) and softer, therefor for walking can be a little unstable. Running they push through the foam more in the Arahi, so therefor it can work well. In general terms we find the Adrenaline more successful for walking over the Glycerin's. All in line with what we hear and see. Hope you enjoy your next pair of Brooks Adrenaline's.

I had the same experience with the ariha 6. Very soft foam so my foot sunk quite deep. Not very reactive.

I loved the 22 - both for walking and running. Will certainly keep this 23 in mind if there's not a lot of difference.
I know it should not play a part, but, I do not like the colour options of the 23 series though... I mean that green? Give me that blue nightlife back :)..

Oh no. The only complaint I've ever had with Brooks shoes is that there is TOO MUCH padding around the heel collar. I can't believe they have gone and added MORE. For those of us with Insertional Achilles Tendonitis, achilles bursitis, Haglunds bump, this is the worst thing Brooks could have done! Thicker padding around the heel puts more pressure and more compression on that sensitive achilles area and irritates it more. Lots of customers have complained about this in reviews so I'm really surprised Brooks did this. Very sorry to hear it. For people with problems like mine it's really hard to find shoes that are not overly padded in the heel. Thanks for pointing out this change in your review.

The thought, as a shoe salesman, was that the 22 had a massive wear problem for customers with large calcanea where the stiffness the heel counter provides, with little cushion, results in the buttery smooth heel counter liner coming unglued and tearing. That was where 60% of my customers wore the 21/22 out, and this happened over a short amount of time. I can understand after feedback trying to not compromise on stability, while making the shoe last longer. It is unfortunate that this means the shoe may not function.
Might I recommend the Glycerin Stealthfit GTS or Launch GTS as similarly stable shoes, but with a much more minimal heel counter. My Launch 9 GTS/Adrenaline GTS 23 rotation is nice because they contact the calcaneus differently, but cradle my arch the same, with slightly different footbeds and stack height. Plus, Launch 9’s are sitting at $69 right now!

@@dougiehobbs1519 Thanks for your comment and suggestions. I tried the Adrenaline 22 and the padding around the back and ankle was still painful for me. Also, the shoe didn't have enough depth which made my heel sit even higher which did not help. I need shoes with a 12mm heel drop and stability. The only ones I've found that work for me are the New Balance 993 and 990v5. Thanks again for your comment.

@@sl2608I have the same issues you have, but found the 21/22 and now the 23 to be fantastic for those issues. I guess I have opposite feel to you where I feel the shoe supports very well in the collar without any undue pressure causing irritation. I will agree that the 22 did wear fast in the heal/collar area which has me moving around quite a bit in a very short time period.

Would these offer enough support for walking and standing? Thinking about these as my work shoe. I pronate and need support. Over a few hours my NB Hierro V7 aren't supportive enough for me and cause feet and knee aches.

The GTS system would be excellent at providing support, but if you have very flat feet, can provide a feeling of a “high” spot. I’d go Adrenaline’s every day.

Hi @skateata1, thanks for watching and the feedback. I can assure you the width of the 23's does offer more volume through the toe box. Not a lot of difference though. There will always be minor changes overtime, but compared to other brands they are easily the most reliable. I think this is the great thing with this shoe, its available in 4 widths. This will depend on what region of the world you are from... As I am lead to believe that not all markets get all widths. All the best and I hope you enjoy the 23's as much as you did the 21's. Regards, Josh

I have the Adrenaline 22. Disappointing. I have many pairs of running shoes. Brooks Adrenaline 22 is the most "garbage" of all. I am not spending a single cent on another version. My money goes to Hoka and NB.
I normally run 1-2 miles and then swap to another pair and then repeat. I would rank the 22 as on par with my budget "garbage" $20 running shoes. Those who sing praises on the 22, i wonder if you have tried wearing Hoka or NB or Asics.

I just bought my first pair of workout shoes ever, so I am very new to this. When I went to the running g shop yesterday they recommended me to get the Adrenaline 23 over the Hoka Clifton 9 and NB 1080 for Overpronation. Do you have an opinion on this? I bought the 23s yesterday but I have 30 days to try them. They do hurt my right heel with rubbing as though it'll leave a blister...but only on the right and I went up a size from my normal when purchasing...

Are you serious about them being garbage? I find them great walking and some light training. I'm not much of a runner, so I can't speak on that topic. What shoe would you suggest for running? I prefer New Balance.
