    i just came across your channel in regards to learning Linux Mint. Please do not take what i say lightly. I have searched hundreds of Linux mint tutorials on RUclips and this series is by FAR the single best! The creator goes slow, takes his time explaining everything so that us beginners don't get overwhelmed. I wish this series was a 100 part series it is that good!

      I couldn't agree more with Kenneth. I was a little hesitate to try Linux but your videos have eliminated my fears about learning Linux. Great Job.

    I recently installed Mint on my old laptop and I was very surprised how easy and fun Mint was to use! Everything worked out from the box, even the webcam! I did try some other Linux distros years ago and those were painful experiences. Nothing worked. No wifi, no mouse etc. These videos are very well made and detailed, helpful! So now I have W10, MacOS and Linux Mint on my household.

    As a new Linux user installing programs from the 'Software Manager' is very straightforward and not the problem when it comes to installing new applications. The real problems begin for new Linux Users when it comes to installing programs that aren't contained in the 'Software Manager', for instance, I've been trying to install an older version of 'GIMP', (it's GIMP 2.8, to be exact), but it's been 'mission impossible' so far.

    Installed Steam through the software manager in Mint 91.3. For anyone wondering Steam will then prompt you for a security check as it see's you on a new computer. Even though in my case (dual boot off bios) it's the same machine different os. Not all of your games will be available, at least Cities Skylines was ;).

    I love Linux Mint and use it daily, but there is one thing I wish it had like Windows, and that is when I plug is a USB plug to use Arduino it would be nice to get a pop-up on the screen to tell me the port I am using, but I don't know how to set it up? Love your channel very helpful thanks Bob in the UK

    I could use some more slightly complicated examples - for example "wine" - in reading the reviews it says to go to the web site and download the latest version for mint 21 - then there are Installation notes discussing "apt keys ? What are these keys? Is there some sort of registry (like windows)

    • @kneekoo
      @kneekoo 7 месяцев назад

      Everything you install through the Mint Software Manager will receive updates through the Update Manager as soon as they become available. So unlike in Windows, there's no need to manually update every program you installed - everything gets updated through the Update Manager. Of course, if you manually install a package by downloading it from some website, you can only get automatic updates if the program itself has such a feature, like Firefox for example. Generally it's a good idea to use the Software Manager to install stuff, so you don't have to worry about updates.

    Hi i'm running windows 10 because i mostly use my computer for CyberLink PowerDVD to play my Bluray movies. Is Linux good with Bluray movies or will my PowerDVD software still work with Linux.

      Good question. A quick Google search showed me Blu ray playing isn't as straight-forward with Linux, I'm afraid, but I found this, maybe it will be helpful: www.howtogeek.com/240487/how-to-play-dvds-and-blu-rays-on-linux/
